February 24th came quicker than Katya had expected. Even Harry, who Katya wasn't fully sure knew what he was going to do, uneasy about what it was that was going to happen. Katy's worst fear came true when she didn't see Hemione once as she walked down to the lake with Fred and George. Her theory was all but confirmed when neither Hermione or Ron showed up minutes before the task.
Fred and George went up to the lowest seat they could find as Katya parted their way to meet Viktor on the deck. He turned to her looking worried, but Katya gave him a reassuring smile as she stopped in front of him.
"You're going to be great, just remember what you've been working on these past few days." She said holding her coat to her chest. It was freezing and she had no idea how any of them were standing there in swimming shirts and shorts.
"Where is Hermione?" He asked, looking away from Katya and finding Fred and George in the stands, who waved to him.
"You'll see her soon." Katya said reaching her arms up to give Viktor one last hug. "Good luck." She said before nodding to Karkaroff and making her way back up to the stands where Fred as saving her a seat between him and George. Katya sat there, one hand grasped to Fred's and the other linked through Georges arm trying to stay as warm as possible. Though from a cold climate she still couldn't stand the cold, especially when her brother was about to dive head first into the icy water below them.
The whistle blew making Katya jump as she lent forward to see Viktor muttering a chant and diving into the water.
"Damn fool!" Katya said watching as only Viktor's head transformed.
"Atlas he'll still be able to breath." Fred said. Katya nodded in agreement, but it still worried her because she didn't know if he was going to be able to push through the cold.
The lake was enchanted so the viewers could see straight through the usually mercy water to see where everyone was and what they were doing. Katya watched as Viktor went out too far, Harry battled the Grindylows, Cedric went the wrong way. Fleur was soon being attacked by the now even angrier demon creatures and soon was forced to retreat where she was pulled up by her Headmistress, who instantly started wrapping the wet girl in a pile of blankets.
Katya looked down again seeing Cedric battle the Grindylows and then Viktor who was close behind him. Harry was already at the spot where four people were strung, floating in the water. Katya covered her mouth as she how fixed her eyes on Hermione, Ron, another Hogwarts student and a girl who looked much smaller than the rest with silvery blonde hair swayed.
"What is he doing!" George shouted, his teeth chattering slightly.
"He doesn't know who to take." Katya said through her scarf.
Soon Cedric was entering the center of the Merpeoples city and sent sparks that cut the rope of the Hogwarts student Katya didnt recognize and soon they were breaking surface trying to catch their breath. Dumbledores voice boomed through the stadium to let everyone know what had just happened. Katya caught her breath as he shark headed brother came zooming into the clearing, snatched Hermione's rope, breaking it with his new sharp teeth, then swam to the top where as soon as he broke water his face transfigured back to normal. Katya jumped up screaming and clapping half for Viktor and half for Hermione, who she was more worried about then Viktor.
"Doesn't Harry know Fleur is already out?" Said Fred as he took Katya's hand once again as she sat.
"How could he? He couldn't have seen her get pulled up." George said shaking his shivering legs.
"Im going down there. Ill meet you two after." Katya said kissing Freds cheek before hurting down to the dock where Karkaroff let her pass so she could get to Viktor.
Katya pulled Viktor into a hug first and then Hermione, who quickly let go and crouched to her knees, followed by Katya, as if getting closer to the water would cause Harry to come up faster. Katya held her breath as a bunch of bubbles came from over the underwater city. There was dead silence waiting to see what was going to happen then suddenly, so sudden that it scared Katya, Harry's head broke surface along with Ron and the silver haired girl.
From behind her Fleur started screaming and crying at the girl who everyone now knew was her little sister. Katya let out a hand for Ron as Hermione helped Harry and soon everyone was out of the water and Katya could finally breath again. Standing by Viktor they all waited for the scores, and even though they pinned Viktor third she couldn't care less. All that mattered as he and all of Katyas friends were safe and they got to move on from the lake.
Karkaroff was furious that they pinned Harry second, and although everyone agreed with Dumbledore and though staying behind and making sure everyone got up was very noble and deserved the extra points it didnt stop Karkaroff from going off on anyone who disagreed with him.
Harry and Viktor stayed behind to talk to the judges as Katya walked the four very wet people back up to the castle, dropping off the silver haired girl off with her sisters classmates. They had entered the Great hall where food was already placed along the long tables. As they ate, Katya couldn't help but start to worry at how long it was taking Harry and Viktor to get back to the castle. Cedric and Fleur had already made it back and after listening to Fleur thank Ron over and over for helping bring her sister to the doc Katya stood.
"Where are you going?" Hermione said moving her spoon around her soup.
"Im going to go find Viktor."
Katya walked back out towards the lake when she saw Harry running towards her. Harry didnt seem to see Katya but Katya saw where it was he was running from and her eyes widened when she saw her brother, who was turned towards Harry fall instantly. Katya broke to a run and flew down the hill, panting as she reached her brother who laid on the hard grown unconscious. It was obvious to her that Harry didnt cause his unconsciousness, but something had. Katya looked wide eyed around the darkening forest for any sign of movement but nothing was catching her eye.
She lifted the eyelid of one of Viktor's eyes and instantly recognized it as her brother was stunned. Katya looked around frantically trying to figure a plan. He was too heavy to carry back to the ship, but maybe if she yelled loud enough either Hagrid or the Beauxbatons Headmistress would hear and come out. Before she could get a deep enough great to start screaming she saw Harry returning with Dumbledore swiftly making their way back to where Katya kneeled with Viktors head on her thigh.
"What happened!" Dumbledore said, his icy blue eyes turning wide with shock. Harry stood behind him now looking just as confused.
"I came out to find Viktor and Harry and when I came out of the castle Harry was running up, I spotted Viktor and then he fell a few seconds after Harry had passed me. I think he was attacked, but I don't see anyone or anything. He's stunned Professor."
Dumbledore looked sternly as Katya and then turned when Snape and another Hogwarts professor approached.
"Katya, if you would, please return to the feast. Your brother will be fine, but right now I need to hear something from Harry that needs to be only heard buy us. Please." He said, his hand now stretched out to encourage Katya to go back inside the castle.
Once back into the hall Katya paced after telling her friends what had happened. Katya couldn't relax long enough to sit and eat. She could tell people were starting to stare but she didn't care. It wasn't until Viktor walked into the hall looking very confused did she stop pacing, but it was only to run up to her brother and pull him into a hung. She held on tight, as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Im okay, its okay. Harry will be coming up soon." He said holding the back of Katya's head.
"What happened?" Katya asked in a low voice, as they walked out into the entrance of the school and sat on a set of stairs.
"Harry and I were talking about Hermione when a man from their Ministry came walking over. He was babbling and look sickly. He kept talking to the trees and eventually he started shouting at us to get Dumbledore, so Harry ran up to get him since he knows where to find him and then someone stunned me from behind. When Harry got back the man I was watching was gone." He said in a low tone, pausing a lot as the students passing by listened. Katya almost told him he didn't need to be so secretive since none understood Bulgarian, but decided against it.
Katya had no questions, so silently they walked back into the Great Hall and sat with the remainder of their friends (Ron and Hermione had made their way to their rooms so they could get warm) and soon Harry was joining them. He sat their quietly eating quickly. Katya wanted to tell him to slow down cause it was making her nervous but there was no point. Harry must had been so shaken up.
