This was my second conlang. It was much better than Irýmmðë, but still pretty bad. More

Quick Overview:

Name: Old Devīshc

Years Created: [[Years]]

Morphological Type: Agglutinative

Orthography:  Deivishan Alphabet (It is called [[WIP]] in their language)

Orthography Type: Alphabet

Orthography Relation: This alphabet was originally created for this language. It is phonetic.

Romanization: Exists, phonetic.

Romanization Characteristics: Adapted Latin alphabet, contains diacritics and digraphs, and counts them as letters, so that they may match the original Deivishan letters.

Relevance: High - It is like the Latin language in our world. Its alphabet has been adapted to many nearby languages, and they borrow many loanwords from it. This is the old version of the language from around when it arose. Unlike Latin, it is still in natural use by the time of industrialization, albeit in its more modern form. I will make that language some time in the future.

Introduction:

Well, here I am, starting a second language. This one will be much better (according to my taste) than Irýmmðë.

[[Language Name]] Will be an alphabet this time. It will have digraphs and more variety in sounds.

It will actually have new "foreign" sounds instead of just being American English minus a bunch of sounds (Irýmmðë didn't have z, ch, English j, ng, ts or dz clustering, the [ç] sound in "human," glottal stop, and a bunch of other sounds).

It will also have more diacritics than are present on your average US-International keyboard setup.

This book will be set up a little differently than the Irýmmðë one, hopefully to help teach the language better.

This will also have its own alphabet. This alphabet will be like the Latin alphabet in that it becomes adapted to many other languages of its world.

This is the earliest form of the language, so there will be mild idiosyncrasies in grammar and the writing system will be perfectly phonetic. As the language evolves, it will have more exceptions (though I won't let it get out of hand like English). So don't worry that it looks just a bit too perfect and artificial. The language is young and the orthography even younger.

Inspirations:

Polish and Japanese inspired the phonology, while Finnish inspired the agglutinative grammar.
