Hell Froze Over

Chapter 1. The Flight

As I put my ear buds in I can hear the plane engines fire up as we take off. Me and my best friend are going to Alaska to find some object of great power and I am already for it to be over. Jack tapped my shoulder and I pulled out an ear bud "So I was thinking maybe we could rent a cabin instead of being with Ralph its only three miles away" Jack said as I rolled my eyes "No we are going to stick with the plans besides the money we have of for emergencies only" I said as he let out and unearthly groan. "Anyway Ralph has the supplies we need unless you want to freeze half to death" I said giving him a reassuring nod as he gave out a disappointed sigh. The plane landed in Quebec, Canada for refueling and I started to ponder what lies in those woods which have haunted me as a child, as we boarded the plane once again Jack butted in on my thinking and said "Better than Iraq right Matt" as he nudged my sholder jokely I laughed "yeah if you switch the boiling heat for the freezing cold. " We meet in the military where we became good friends. I started briefing Jack to make sure he got it "We are going to find some cave that holds sort of object of power correct? " I paused for a minute to let him process it and then he nodded " it's just another payday for me though." I continued. "The woods is actually near where I grew up as a kid unrolled I moved to the continental US." I thought for a moment about when I was little how I felt watched expecially during the pitch black darkness; but I was a kid back then, I know there's nothing back there beside half the woods burned down in a fire last summer
