The stranger takes Nala into a clump of trees and I tend to Kazi. A while later Patty bursts through a different glathering of trees, with a girl. He runs up to me. "Why did Nala scream?" He asks. "A guy threw her over his shoulder and took her into the trees." He gawks at me like I'm crazy. "You just let a stranger take Nala? What's this guys name?" I shrug. "I don't know. He just appeared out of nowhere holding Kazi's bag. Nala said he was there the whole time, but I didn't see him."
"Who's she?" I ask through the link.
"Jenna." He grins.
I smile too. "I'm happy for you."
"That sounds like Samael." Jenna says to him. "Who is he?" Patty inquires of her. "The Grim Reaper." She answers. My heart freezes and my lungs close up, stopping all oxygen. I look down at Kazi. "Pat, before you chased me, Samael had said that the man lying here is dying, fast." I hear Jenna whisper. My head whips around to her.
"He's not dying!" I snap at her and she hides behind Patty. "Don't bark at my mate." Patty growls at me. His words don't register though, all my attention gets drawn to Kazi when his heart rate speeds up and he rolls over, coughing up blood. Edmund hurry your butt up! He lays on his back again and I feel his forehead. "He's burning up. Patty get some water."
"That won't be necessary." The voice of the only vampire that comes close to me trusting states and I stand. He tips his head to me. "Birayn."
I nod. "Edmund."
He stands next to Kazi. "Him?" I nod again. "Him." His nostrils flare and disgust takes his features. "Leopard. The only thing worse than wolf." I cross my arms. "What's that supposed to mean?" He crouches down, lifting Kazi into his arms. "Drinking from him will be morbid." His fangs seep into Kazi's neck.
My wolf takes over and I shoot forward to get the threat away from our mate, but someone holds me back. Growling, I glare over my shoulder at Patty. "You'll thank me later." He assures me. I snarl, knowing he's right. "Don't touch my brother!" Nala yells running in, just as Edmund is extracting his fangs. He lays Kazi down. "This isn't a guarantee on his life." He informs me. "My debt is payed." Then he vanishes and I rush to Kazi's side.
Come on, Kazi. Come back to me.
Hoping he hears my silent plea, I kiss him softly and lay my head on his chest. Everything is dead quiet as I wait. His heart beat speeds up then stops.
"Kazi?" I sit up, tears threatening to spill, taking his face in my hands. "Kazi!" I pound his chest, pissed that he thinks he can leave me.
His eyes fly open and snap to mine, bright silver.
I sigh, relieved he's still alive, but gasp when his hands shoot up and bring my face to his. Kissing me like I'm the one who just came back from the dead. I run my fingers through his hair and he purrs. I break away laughing.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to that." I cough out. "You'll have plenty of time to." His voice is so husky and playfull, yet serious that my laughter dies. "Only if you don't get killed again." I round on him, standing up. "Why didn't you tell me a vampire bit you? Do you have any idea what I would do if you died?" He sits up, but I don't give him a chance to answer and continue. "I'd murder anything in sight before someone put me out of my misery! I'd go crazy with blood ra..."
"Has anyone ever told you, you're hot when you're mad?" Kazi interrupts. A smirk plastered on his face. I gape at him, not knowing if I'm angry that he's not listening, or flattered by his statement. Deciding neither will do, my eyes narrow. "Are you okay?" I ask. "Not really. I'm feeling rather hot and bothered. And I'm dying to jump you right now." What's scary is he gets to his feet, looking quiet severe. I move back and his eyes flash like a predator about to give chase.
"Kazi!" Nala flings her arms around him. However, his gaze doesn't waver from mine. The wind kicks up, shoving his scent in my face. My mouth waters and heat pools in the lower part of my abdomen. G-D, his scent is intoxicating. "He smells dilecious." Jenna murmurs my thoughts. "Stay away from him." Patty and I both growl. "Birayn, what's going on with Kazi?" Nala asks, taking her arms away from him. "I don't know."
"He's in swelter."
Everyone, except Kazi and I, turn to Samael. "What do you mean?" I inquire. "Swelter is the male version of a heat. It rarely occurs, but when it does it's..." He clears his throat. "Let's just say, if he can get you into a bed, you won't be leaving that bed for a week." I choke on air. Then a thought comes to me. "Is he... with. . . another woman?" Tears sting my eyes at the image. "Will he want to mate with another woman during this time?" He guesses. I nod and Kazi scowls. "No. He won't. His beast wouldn't allow it. Women will be drawn to him though." Samael explains. I growl.
"No female is getting near him." Meleyndah snarls. My eyes slowly meet Kazi's straight on. "Will it go away?"
"Not without your help."
I bite my lip, Kazi's gaze flickers to the movement."His animal won't let him force you either, no need to worry about that." Samael adds. Kazi moves forward, stopping toe to toe with me. "Why is it happening to him and not me?" I wonder aloud as Kazi moves my hair from my face. "Because you're of higher rank." Nala says on a gasp. "Precisely." The Reaper confirms. "Comfort him." Meleyndah whispers. "I will not loose my virginity out of wedlock! Let alone in the woods!"
"I didn't say to jump him! But look at him. See what I see." She takes over, showing me a man who is being torn apart inside, wanting to love, respect, pleasure and cherish his mate. My heart hurts with a good pain at seeing how much he wants just his mate. Only me.
With my heart soaring, I thread my fingers in his hair, stand on my toes and kiss him. His arms instantly wrap around my waist, pulling me tight against is rock hard chest. He begs for entrance, nipping and licking my bottom lip. I stay closed, not wanting to get to carried away.
Next thing I know, my legs are around his hips and my back's against a tree. He pinches my upper thigh, making me gasp and he plunges his tongue in, hungrily exploring. I moan, our hips grind together and he deepens the kiss, purring lightly. I can't bring myself to laugh this time. Truth is, it's kind of a turn on. The way his chest vibrates mine, creates a coil of heat at my core. His downstairs buddy wakes up, rubbing hard on me and I give another moan.
"Rainy!"
I break my lips away, Kazi trails to my neck with open kisses. "What?" I bark at Patty. Then our situation floods into my sexually clouded mind and I attempt to push Kazi away a little. He refuses to budge and tightens his hold on my thighs. "Kazi, move." I growl, putting more strength into this shove.
He does as I tell him to and steps back, taking me with him. Holding me like a father would his child. "Put me down! I'm not a kid!" I yell, struggling to disentangle myself from him. He drops my legs, but other than that, I'm stuck to him like glue. "What am I going to do with him? He won't even let me go." I sigh.
His cell rings. Perfect! "Kazi, you need to get your phone. I'll give you some space." I try to remove my body from his, however he can't have any of that, so he clutches me closer. I grit my teeth as he awkwardly hands me the blasted communication device. "Hello?" I answer.
"Birayn?" Amanda's voice asks. "That's my name." I exhale. "Where are you guys? Axel and I reached the house a while ago." She says, concern lacing her words. "We got held back. We're in Saeva Woods." I glare at Kazi. "Stay there. Axel just got back from talking to the guard, she's not here. B or your sister. They got moved yesterday." A low growl slips out. "Did he say where to?" She repeats the question to Axel.
"R's house."
I pull out my cell from my pocket. "What's the address?" She spells it out and I jot it down. "Okay, we'll meet you there. Bye." I hand the phone back to Kazi. "Liylah got moved. She's at the R's main house now." Kazi rubs my back soothingly and kisses my hair.
"R? As in Richard Rhett Roberts? That R?" Samael raises a brow. "How the heck would I know what his full name is? All I know is this b*stard has my baby sis and I'm getting her back." I snarl. "Show me the address?" I hold out my phone. His eyes scan over it then he laughs. "Stop. It's not funny!" Nala whispers harshly and smacks him. "Actual-ly it is." He sobers at her glare. "The guy you're dealing with is Ryan Ronald Rake. The only thing harmful about him, is his love for his wife. If you so much as bump into her, you'll be in the cells before you can whimper 'I'm sorry'."
"That's it? I had the idea he was like the boogie man. What's so special about his wife anyway." Nala wonders tilting her head. "Love for a woman is all it takes for a man to loose his mind, Nala." Kazi says, staring at me. I roll my eyes, heat rising to my face, but can't stop a smile.
"That's true. However, his wife is a little special." Samael continues. "She's the last female genie to have a mate, which also makes her the last one that can get pregnant. For the past ten years Ryan has been trying to find a way for his wife to be set free from the contract a genie has with their 'master'. Last I heard he finally found a cure, but he..." He stops talking and looks at Nala with hard eyes.
"What did I do?" She snaps at him. "He needs the blood of the strongest bird, a Phoenix and the pure heart of an Angel." He finishes. Nala looks confused for a minute, then her eyes go wide and her whole body freezes. "I'm a little confused. What does this have to do with Nala?" I ask. "Nala is the Angel." Samael tells me. "No, Nala's a witch."
"No, she's not." Kazi whispers shaking his head. "You knew!?" Nala screams pointing at him. "Only that you weren't a witch. I had no clue you're an Angel." Kazi explains. "Why didn't you tell me?!" She comes over and starts hitting him. "I didn't want you to think you're a freak or something." He positions his body to where I don't get hit by accident. "Is that what you see me as? A freak?" She stops her hands, tears welling in her eyes.
"What? No! No, that's not what I meant!" He removes a hand from me and wipes her tears. "Then what?!" She slaps his hand away. "Nala, I love you. I would never think of you as a freak or anything like that. But you tend to jump to conclusions, thats why I didn't tell you, because I was scared you would think of yourself as a freak." He sighs pinching the bridge of his nose. "You pompous! I'm a big girl! I can handle the truth!" She smacks the back of his head. "I know that now. So stop hitting me."
"Never." She smacks him again then sits on a stump. "Okay. Kazi, can you let go please? I really need a little space." I pry my body away from his and two seconds later I'm in his arms again.
"Never." He uses his sisters words.
I growl, becoming exasperated and knock Kazi to the ground, straddling his waist. "I, need, space." I snarl slowly and jerk away from him. Running a hand down my face, I sigh. "Alpha, when your mate touches you, do you feel sparks?" Samael questions me. "What?" I look at him weird. "Sparks, shocks, anything?" I shake my head. "No. Why?"
"I feel sparks with Jenna." Patty says looking at me. "So? Why are sparks so special?" My face scrunches up. "Is there a need to satisfy your mates desires?" Samael inquires. "Yes. What's with the interrogation?" I demand. "How strong? One to ten. Ten being, your wolf is demanding you bed him now."
"Probably an eight or nine. Why does it matter?" I throw my hands up. "Rainy." I turn to Patty. "You should be feeling an eleven or twelve. Nothing lower." I growl. "You people are talking in riddles! Just spit it out!" I bark. "I want to be back in Kazi's arms." Meleyndah whimpers. "I do too. But I can't think when he's touching me."
"I don't give a dang! Go to him!" She snaps.
"It's showing." Patty nudges Samael. "I can see that." He replies dryly. "Don't touch me." He steps away from Patty. Meleyndah keeps pushing me to Kazi, Patty and The Reaper are talking in riddles. I start gasping. I'm going crazy. "Shut up everyone! Just shut up!" I yell covering my ears. A slight pain tears at my chest and I whimper. It immedately goes away when strong arms engulf my shaking frame, holding me in a tight embrace. I bury my face in Kazi's chest, snaking my arms around his waist, breathing in his scent.
"What am I going to do? I can't think straight." I grumble into his shirt. "Go get a marriage certifiacate." Jenna's voice penetrates my thoughts. My head snaps up. "My brother got one without having a ceremony. It doesn't take that long." She says. "That's not a bad idea. Maybe we can get one too." Patty adds, wiggling his brows. Jenna blushes and pushes him. I look up at Kazi. Why didn't I think of that? I smile and his eyes light up.
"Wanna get married?" I ask.
He grins and captures my mouth, hot and slow.
