"Ophelia has a good feeling about work she found. It's at a diner just around the corner, she'll be close to home and won't have to go far. That eased my mind, a lot. Not only is she going to be out of the house making a life for herself, but she can help with money. I still haven't told her I need help, that's not something I was ever told how to deal with. Back when I was a normal guy, the men supported the family. I know times have changed, but O is my only family, and I should be able to support her. But she seems to happy now that she has this job; when she actually got the position, she did something... adorable?
She made dinner, bought champagne. Dinner was... it was awful. But her bright smile, the laugh evident in her voice, I didn't care about the food. I just cared about her, about her happiness. Even though I can't get drunk (especially off of champagne, I hate the stuff), we drank, we laughed, we had fun. For the first time, the very first time, we were at home, we were a couple, we were settling in to these roles that we didn't really know were placed upon us. O didn't get drunk, with what of the serum she has in her it would take more than a bottle of champagne to get her drunk, but she was getting there.
She asked me to teach her how to dance.
I am rusty, to say the least, and I should apologize to anyone living below us - if there is anyone. But I'd do anything to keep that smile on her face, especially if it requires me holding her close. It's like she put a spell on me all those years ago when we first met. Ever since I first laid eyes on her, I knew that I wanted to protect her. She had this way of being so innocent, deserving of protection, and yet I know she can protect herself. It's that reminder I need constantly; she can go out into the world and be safe. She can probably keep herself safer than I can keep her, but she can rest well knowing that I don't intend on going anywhere, ever.
Every day, my feelings for her grow stronger.
I know how I feel, I just don't know how to say it."
