I plugged the aux chord into my phone and pressed shuffle before starting up the car and beginning to drive. One of my all time favourite tunes started blasting through the car’s interior speakers and I started bobbing my head along to the familiar chords that I recognized as the start of tell me i’m a wreck by every avenue.
I began shouting the lyrics like there was no tomorrow.

I laughed as the song ended and I hummed quietly along to the other songs which came on along the way home.
Soon enough I arrived at the familiar apartment.
I parked the car before hopping out; locking it behind me and walking up the footsteps before going inside.
It seemed fairly quiet, which was pretty suspicious. I mean generally Luke would be strumming his guitar, singing, watching tv, or blasting music, the shower wasn’t running either.
“LUKEEEEEE?” I called out; my voice echoing throughout the almost uncomfortably silenced apartment.
Was he still here? He would’ve at least texted if he was going to leave?
I bit my lip nervously, pulling my phone out of my pocket and pressing the home button to see no notifications what so ever.
Well then.
I walked into the bedroom, deciding I would do some song writing, since I hadn’t actually done any ever since I arrived in Sydney.
My jaw almost dropped as I saw what was on the bed.
It was a jaw-dropping black dress, with a long see through, flowing skirt to it. It was gorgeous.
Beside it was a stunning pair of cherry red high heels.
Oh my God.
There was also a letter.
Dear Daniella,
I have a little surprise for you.
I apologize if you don’t like the dress, Alex was out with Michael so I had to find one myself.
I swear, as soon as I saw it I knew it would look beautiful on you.
It had your name written all over it, as did the shoes.
Put the dress and the shoes on and be ready by 6:30pm, Ashton will be picking you up.

I felt my insides overwhelming with butterflies and a sweet tingling sensation that made me radiate with happiness. As cheesy and stupid as it may sound, it felt like I was in one of those bittersweet cliche movies where the boy is utterly perfect and treats the girl like a princess, takes her on surprise dates, sends her on scavenger hunts, and the movie ends happily ever after. The kind of movies that leave girls with their expectations so high that reality always lets them down.
But this time around, reality was more than I could ever expect.
I couldn’t get the smile off my face as I went into the bathroom, and considering I had a shower earlier on in the day I decided to just get changed.
I began with my make up, and painting my nails.
I then slipped on the dress and used my straightener to give my hair a messy, yet elegantly wavy look. I then teased the ends.
I placed a few gorgeous gold necklaces on my neck that once belonged to my nan.
I checked the time which read 6:20pm.
I slipped on my heels which were a little struggle to get on, yet once they were on they fit perfectly.

I went over my red lipstick and eye liner before packing a small red handbag and unwrapping a piece of mint gum and chewing it as I walked towards the front door and waited for a knock at the door which eventually came.
I opened the door to reveal Ashton dressed as Robin. I laughed.
“You look great Dans, Luke will be all over you” he winked.
I laughed as he escorted me to the car and we started driving to wherever we were going.
“Where are we goinggg?” I whined,
“Not telling!” he laughed, making me frown like a little two year old not getting their way.
Suddenly Stacey’s mum started playing and I smiled.
“turn it upppp” I begged,
“On it” he laughed, before we both started screaming the lyrics.
I was really grateful to have such good friends here, such as Ashton (of course with great music taste too).

After a shit load of jams in the car that took up an entire hour, we eventually arrived at this secret destination.
I looked out the window on my side of the car and saw a breathtaking beach.
We both got out of the car and walking inside a gorgeous looking hotel with several levels.
Ashton lead me towards the reception desk where a lady that had very familiar features to Ashton looked up and smiled warmly, greeting Ashton and myself.
“You must be Daniella?!” she smiled, I nodded as she took me in for an embrace.
“I’m Anne Marie, Ashton’s mum! A close family friend of ours owns the hotel and I also work here; I’ll be taking you from here and showing you where Luke awaits!” she explained.
“Oh wow! the place seems lovely! Thank you” I smiled.
“Bye Dans” Ashton smiled, hugging me, “Bye Ash, thanks for driving me!” I exclaimed,
“Anytime! Have a good night” he smiled.
“Will do” I smiled back.
Anne Marie and I fell easily into conversation, she seemed like such a lovely and genuine person, no wonder where Ashton got it from.
She took us into the elevator and clicked the button which lead us to the roof top.
The elevator dinged,
“There’s arrows on the floor, follow those! Have fun, I’ll see you soon sweetie” she instructed,
“Bye! Thank you!” I replied, before stepping out of the elevator and following the post-it notes shaped as arrows. As I went past the last arrow I looked up to see a gorgeous set up, there was a cute little table with a cherry red table cloth, candles lit up around the perimeter of the roof top, a rose bouquet centre piece on the table, a small speaker in the corner of of the rooftop, a guitar on it’s stand, a stunning view of the beach and the waves crashing ashore, and a breathtaking Luke Hemmings holding a single rose standing in front of the table. He was wearing his trademark black skinny jeans and a cherry red button up, with black business shoes. His hair was gelled in a perfectly sculpted quiff.
Goddammit that boy was so unearthly perfect it made me want to cry.
“Daniella, you look stunning” he breathed out,
“You look very handsome Luke,” I winked; “Luke this is- wow. I - I don’t know what to say, you must’ve gone to so much trouble, I - It’s beautiful, thank you” I blurted out.
“Anything for you princess,” he smiled.
I embraced him in a tight hug, his arms going around my waist and mine around his neck, as I rested my head on his chest and listened to the sound of his heartbeat; breathing in his amazing scent.
He pulled my chair out for me as I sat down, before he walked around the other side of the table and sat down himself.
Suddenly a familiar boy dressed in a Captain America shirt came out and handed us menu’s. Calum.
“Nice outfit Cal,” I teased. “Who’s Calum? I’m Captain America!” he exclaimed, making Luke and myself burst out laughing.
“So, what can I get this lovely couple for dinner?” he asked.
I scanned the menu as did Luke.
“Can I please have the steak with chips? Oh and a lemonade please” I ordered,
“Same with me, except a coke please” Luke said.
“Your drinks will be here sooooooooon” Calum said, before running off with his cape flowing, making Luke and I laugh again.
“So did you fix things with your dad?” Luke asked.
“I did, yeah. I missed him so much! He looked terrible when he opened the door, I felt really bad. We had a really good conversation and we’re back to normal. I talked to him about the tour and he’s fine with it, as long as I call him whenever I can” I explained,
“That’s fantastic Dans, I’m really happy for you babe” he admitted.
“Thanks Lukey” I smiled, not long after our drinks arrived, soon followed by our meals.

“That was soooooo good” I hummed,
“I know, best steak and chips I’ve ever had” Luke agreed, before he stood up, grabbed his guitar and sat back down.
“So Dans, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but you’ve changed my life. I’ve only known you for such a short time it’s unbelievable how fast I’ve fallen for you. The point is, I just want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me in such a short time, I don’t know what I’d do without you now, honestly. You’ve changed me for the better and I can’t thank you enough for that. I hope you know how happy you make me Dans. I love you a lot, and I may have kind of wrote this song about you.”
