Doomed

By AgathaChristieLover

I am your Josephine, the one you always loved.

We parted ways, but the passion was not diluted

You loved me, whether married or divorced.

“France, army, head of army and Josephine”

I am your Cleopatra, the doomed Egyptian Queen

Loving you led me to immortalisation and death

By the hands of deadly asp, a snake befitting my royal rank

And only in death could we ever be free

I am your Juliet, of youth ever flourishing

Loving you was never an easy path

To see you poisoned, I plunged the sword

Into my heart, that was slowly breaking

I am your Guinevere, I never was your wife

Your damsel in distress for my death penalty

Adulterous relationship, meant no more happiness

You are a hermit, I a nun that is the life we must lead

I am your Thisbe, trapped in Roman mythology

The wall through which we did converse

You thought me dead by lions blood thirst

Fell upon sword, of which I soon joined you in death

I am your Iseult, though I see no flaw of deception

To your mentor, King Mark, I was betrothed

Not known if our love was through mind or potion

It was true, I loved you ‘till our death

To Napoleon and Josephine

To Antony and Cleopatra

To Romeo and Juliet

To Lancelot and Guinevere

To Pyramus and Thisbe

To Tristan and Iseult

We are doomed

For love did not conquer all.
