|| "Ugh." I yawned and grabbed my phone off my bedside table. My eyes widened when I looked at the screen.
89 NEW MESSAGES, 54 MISSED CALLS
I considered the idea that I could have missed something but then I remembered. It was Ariel trying to get me back. I sighed, put my phone back and laid on my side. I smirked to myself, closed my eyes and extended out my hand to feel Dory's back, yet I found nothing. I opened my eyes to figure out she was gone. I quickly leaned up and looked around.
We had fallen asleep in the same bed, I know that for a fact. Maybe she just got up to use the rest room?
I got up and out of the bed just to find a sticky note right next to where I had placed my phone. I picked up the note and as I read it, I smiled.
I had to get up and get ready for work. I hope you have a wonderfully fantastic day!

I then thought to myself. I grinned a little bit more before getting dressed.
... Around thirty minutes later
|| "Yeah, I'm so sorry I had to leave so soon. I just try to come in early so Jeremy doesn't have to be alone..." I listened to her closely, my eyes slightly wide as I leaned against a shelf and stuffed my hands into my pockets. I smiled. After listening to all the voice mails Ariel had left me I needed some light and happiness to cheer me up. Lucky for me, Dory just so happened to be filled to the brim with sunshine and was cheering me up already.
"Alone? Is...Jeremy the first person to come in?" She nodded and smiled at me.
"He's the head manager actually. He's worked here for a long time...He has problems with insomnia so I usually come in and help him open up early. He would if it was me so why not!" I laughed a little and nodded. Her eyes then widened as she gasped and grabbed onto my arms. "Do you know what today is?" I slowly began to laugh as I looked down at her.
"I-I don't think so...What's today?" she smiled brightly.
"It's the day before Christmas Eve, silly!" I began to grin.
"I almost forgot. You know, I think my family reunion is tomorrow or the day after..." I checked my watch. "I guess I'll have to fly down there soon. I'm guessing you have family to visit too?"
"Oh, no. No family." she chirped and shook her head. I frowned.
"You...don't have any family to visit?"
"Oh no. Not at all, none. All of my extended family lives too far away." I raised my eyebrows. I was intrigued instantly.
"W-what about your mom and dad?"
"Oh well mom I... I don't know where my mom is and my dad, well. My dad's dead but that's not the point. The point is we got so much Christmas stuff, soooo much Christmas stuff. It's like winter wonderland with bubbles I can not stress this to you enough." she leaned in very close to me and whispered. "It is the best thing I've ever seen." usually I'd chuckle and let her show me around, yet at this moment I couldn't be more serious.
"...You're dad's dead?" she nodded.
"He died a long time ago. But seriously, we got like six new bubble bars..." as if hearing about the death of Dory's father wasn't enough to make me feel unsettled, I felt a tap on my shoulder that made me get goosebumps. I turned to see the last person I wanted to see. Ariel.
"I knew you'd call me back." Ariel whispered before slamming her lips onto mine. My eyes widened as I pulled away quickly and pushed her off me. I turned towards Dory as I could hear her quietly gasp.
"U-um..." Dory stammered as I began to breathe in and out heavily. My palms got sweaty and my mouth felt dry, I was beginning to panic as Dory slowly backed away. Ariel then huffed and pulled on my arm.
"Hey! You called me! Aren't you going to confront me?" I shook my head.
"I-I-I...I...d-don't..." Ariel sighed and shook her head.
"I knew it. Have a nice life." she then turned and walked away. Not knowing what to say, I turned to Dory and pulled her into my arms.
"Whoa!" she gasped as I kept breathing quickly. She slowly put her hands on my shoulders. "Calm...down. Are you alright?" I pulled away and looked at her, yet I still could barely speak.
"Um, dude. Are you okay?" Jeremy asked as he then walked over.
"Uh..." Dory spoke up as she looked at the both of us. I was still panicking, unsure of what to say or do. Yet of course, she knew exactly what to do. "He's fine he's just...a little...flustered. Do you mind if I have today off?" he raised both his eyebrows.
"Really?" I felt slightly more calm as I watched her. I couldn't help but smile a little as I then witnessed the first time I ever had gotten to see Dory be sassy.
"I work tomorrow and three days straight after that. I'm pretty sure I have earned at least one day off..." Jeremy sighed and nodded.
"Go ahead."
... Thirty five minutes later
|| "So, you did break up with her." I sighed as she sat down on my bed, sitting across from me. I felt a little bit better now, but I knew trying to explain the situation to Dory would be difficult. She didn't seem to know a lot about relationships.
"Yes I did but she keeps stalking me and telling me that she wants me back."
"So why don't you just go back to her? Why not give her a second chance?"
"Because. I already gave her several second chances and she was mean to me repeatedly."
"Yes well anything can be forgiven--"
"And I'm in love with someone else." I blurted it out for the sake of stopping her from lecturing me about forgiveness, yet as soon as I said it I was almost positive she'd get the truth out of me. I was doomed already.
"Oh! Who is it!" she got on her hands and knees and leaned in close towards me, the tips of our noses touching. I laughed and slowly pushed her away by her shoulder.
"I can't say. You know them...I'm afraid the secret will get out to them if I say."
"Oh really? I know them?" I nodded and smirked a little.
"Mhm."
"Can I have a hint?" I bit down on my bottom lip.
"S-sure..."
"Is it...someone whom you assume is single?" I began to blush.
"I-I think the person is single...I don't know. They haven't told me a lot about their love life..."
"...Do they work at Lush?" I began to slowly chuckle.
"Yes...Yes they do work at Lush..."
"Huh..." she then sat back and sat Indian style. She thought about it for a few moments then gasped. "I GOT IT! I KNOW WHO IT IS!" I raised a eyebrow.
"O-oh?" she leaned in towards me again. Yet this time, she was dangerously close. Close enough for me to kiss her if I wanted to...Yet I listened closely as she spoke.
"I don't know why I didn't see it before. It was so obvious this whole time! I know who it is...they're the one reason why you come into the store everyday, just so you can listen to the person talk and say funny things. The person has very strong opinion about things and you just find them absolutely adorable. Am I right?" I smiled more and more with every word she spoke.
"Yes...It's true. Dory I--"
"Oh man, I'm so happy!" she then laughed like a child as she laid down on her belly and began to kick her feet. I watched her closely and went to put my arms around her, yet she sat up and giggled. "I'm so happy for you! Gosh, I wouldn't have ever guessed that you're like that!" I then slowly frowned.
"Like what?"
"You're gay." my eyes widened.
"W-what?" I tilted my head and scratched the back of my neck.
"It's Jeremy! You like him! He's gotta be!" my eyes widened. "I mean...I don't think he's gay but he certainly is single..." I chuckled a little as she spoke. I shook my head. I was now fully calm as I got up off the bed and stood.
"I'm not gay, and I don't like Jeremy. And I don't want to talk about it... But what I do want to do," I then held out my hand towards her and smiled. "Is watch the rest of Finding Nemo with you." she smiled back and took my hand. She got up and grinned at me. I turned and began to lead her to the living room yet she then stopped me.
"Wait. I want to hug you real quick." I turned to her, raised a eyebrow and laughed.
"Okay..." I went to hug her yet she this time put her hand on my chest.
"No...wait. I want to hug you the right way." she began to jump up and down in the slightest. "Like...around your neck?" I slowly nodded.
"Here, come here. I'll just hold you up by your legs okay?" she raised both of her eyebrows.
"Are you sure you won't drop me?"
"I am very sure." I then reached down a little to touch the back of her knees. "Just jump up and hold onto me when I tell you too, okay?" she seemed unsure, but then she slowly nodded. "Okay. One. Two. Three." I then picked her up off the ground as she squealed and held onto me. I laughed as she wrapped her arms around me and held me tightly. I sighed and rested my chin on her shoulder as I made sure to keep a good grip on her legs. I closed my eyes and smiled against her skin. As she wrapped her legs around my waist I couldn't help but grin.
"If you only knew how nice this feels..."
"Huh?" I didn't realize I was talking out loud until it was too late.
"Oh, nothing. Sorry...M-my apologies." she chuckled and pulled away. She kept her arms around my neck as she smiled.
"No problem. Now, if I don't find Nemo, I swear I'm gonna die." I bursted out into laughter before putting her back down on the ground again.
