in the
beginning
we trees
roamed
until earth
grounded us
to grow green
and make
healing air so
humans would
come. we didn't
mind at first. it felt
good to have our
roots spread and
grow. humans came
and lived carefully
knowing their breath
was ours. but that
was long ago.
now humans
have anchored
down on our
roots. our breath
is short. we are
getting ready
to roam
again
