You sit down on a cold bench not too far from your house. You wipe your eyes roughly. You were not going to be seen in public crying. You pull your knees up to your chest and wrap your arms around your legs letting out a sigh. Getting out of that sad room was a good idea.
Your grandfather was dying and you couldn't just sit there are watch him as he deteriorated right in front of your eyes.
You begin to sob once more, tears streamed down your face. You were pretty close to your grandfather, he was like a Dad that you never had.
"Get a hold of yourself (y/n)!" You sob, pressing your eyes into your knees to control the tears.
"Are you okay?" A voice says quietly.
You look up at the boy that was standing before you.
"Uh" You wipe the tears away quickly and take a deep breath. "I'm fine"
"Well you certainly don't look fine" He states, sitting down beside you. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"Thanks, but I don't really want to talk about my personal problems to a stranger"
"Do you live around here?" He questions.
"Just over there" You point to a house just down the street.
He laughs slightly, "I just moved across the road from you"
"Looks like I will be seeing you around"
"It does"
We sit in silence for a few minutes before he breaks the silence, "Do you want to go get a coffee or something?" He asks, looking over at you.
You pause. It would be nice; another try at getting your mind off of things.
"Is it a date?"
"Sure as hell is."
It's impossibly hard to keep your mouth under control from the smile that dares to forth come. But you smile and nod.
"I'd love to" You both stand up.
"I'm Aiden, by the way" He smiles.
