And with that last statement, her claws pushed through her belly that Amanda gave out a painful cry
And that was all until Savanna let out a darkly scream
A scream so dark that she finally felt free
Free that all she felt was the hunger for blood
Chapter Nineteen (unedited)
Savanna had never felt so alive until she felt herself change, and not into her wolf but something different, something demonic as she saw Amanda's limp body fall into the ground with a thud. Her golden locks fell against her pale cheeks as she looked at those white colored eyes of her. Those blue specks long gone but watched her with noting
Her hands shook from the energy she felt coursing through her veins. The way her eyes were now more pronounced and sharper. She watched Vashka who watched her transformation in excitement. How her eyes lit up as Savanna began to change into her own creation
"yes" She breath at the sight before her "yes! Embrace It Xiuhcoatl!" the ground began to shake but Savanna didn't care. Her hatred for this woman was too much that she couldn't even think but want to tear her apart.
And she let out a deafening screech
"fuck!" Lucas thought as he tore the ghoul apart with his teeth. His eyes wild in irritation as more Ghouls came out of nowhere. Just as he turned, He was caught by surprise when one pounce at him. They both fell just when Lucas tripped and went rolling down the stairs, bringing the creature with him. They fought and fought until he felt a searing pain against his leg. Looking down, he saw one who bit him. He legs started to kick until he's foot connected through his weak skull. But with his attention from the one who clung unto his legs, He didn't have time to prepare when the other clawed his him so deep that Lucas gave out a roar. Suddenly the weight was long gone and the next thing he saw was a Brown wolf above the ghoul who clawed him, The creature began to wriggle out free until it stopped when the wolf bit down hard. Slowly his head turned and watched him with he's golden eyes before he up and left
HE was about to stand when he heard a loud screech but this was more louder then the ghouls that made he's ears bled. Every one stopped even the creatures who wailed loudly before it began to retreat back to the dark. The wolves whimpered against the sound that didn't stop. Even Lucas had tried covering his ears but failed until he turn back into his human form without his consent . His groan filled with the others who did the same as Lucas
He's eyes found Alester who was in the same position him. His hands on each side of his head to cover his ears, kneeling in weakness
Everyone was too busy cowering from the pain when Lucas had notice it. The screech, the one that held pain in them and she knew the voice. He knew the voice too well that he didn't hesitate to sprint towards the sound, not bothering to cover his bleeding ears
Panic gripped him, He felt his heart squeeze for what he knew was hurt. The thought and image of Savanna in pain brought him to run faster and turn into his wolf once again. He just knew, that if he ever see her dead, then he wouldn't live again. Not when He finally couldn't hold himself and try to express his attraction to her.
finally he came into a stop at what his eyes saw
Amanda lay motionless on the ground and Savanna who screamed in agony and pain. Her back towards to him but what really caught his attention was the witch whose eyes found him with a bloodthirsty grin
Her hand holding Savannas head tightly as she chuckled lowly
"Look what we have here?" She mused but Lucas only growled when she pressed her hand harder
"Lucas the Lionhearted, Savior of Oscar, Defeater of the dark witch. So many names to even remember, but a handsome face like yours?" she chuckled once again " I can never forget a man like you Lucas. Especially when you look dashing when you wear your emotions"
"VAshka" He growled and took a step forward but stop when he saw Savanna's black veins, sprouting towards every direction like virus and it was flowing fast
"What did you do!" He roared
For the second time, He felt frightened. The second time to actually feel desperate from losing her
"Its surprising how Xiuhcoatl looks exactly like Honoria" She suddenly stated, Her eyes roamed her face in amusement before she looked back at him. "Poor Honoria, What would she think when She finds out that your actually in love with a woman like her?"
"Don't" He warned but she didn't listen, instead she continued
"And what will Savanna think when she finds out that...." A low growl came through his chest as he watched Vashka in despise. She laughed
"Oh my my! Savanna doesn't know!" she turned back to Savanna who looked worn out but this time Lucas' eyes widen when he realize that Savanna was no longer on the ground
Her feet just above the ground as she floated. Vashka's hand supporting her
"Oh you bad bad wolf" She taunted him. Lucas' Anger was wearing thin and if she opens her mouth once again, He wouldn't be able to hold himself any longer
"This is very interesting" This came out of a whisper until Vashka finally let Savanna go, she fell lifeless on the ground while Lucas didn't think to run toward her. His arms snake through her as he held on her tightly like she was going to disappear any moment
his eyes locked at her eyes, instead of tears that spilled against her Blue eyes, He saw blood instead. How her lips were parted and her breathing labored. Lucas could feel her heartbeat but it was weak and slow that this made him hate himself
"you're pathetic you know that" the hair behind his neck stood at the close proximity of her voice
"Stop this" his didn't mean for it to sound strangled but he knew he couldn't do anything after that. Vashka won again and he failed once more
"Remember Lucas, You brought war toward this. When will you ever admit your failure"
and then she was gone
leaving Lucas to his own pain

The sun began to slowly rise as Lucas watched with no emotions. His hand with a Glass as he took big gulps of alcohol to numb the pain
For the first time, he didn't know what to do
He heard his phone vibrate on top of the table where he left it, Raphael's name was displayed in front and he quickly turned. Seeing his brothers name brought guilt towards him
Such twisted emotion that could turn love one into enemies, and that's what he was afraid off
He didn't want Raphael to blame him
He had blamed people for his doings, blamed Savanna for god know why and now everything was going back to hit him in the face
Raphael had been constantly calling, asking numerous questions on why his mate wouldn't answer his calls, how he texted and called everyone's phone including Savanna who still laid on the bed unconscious- making him the only on to deal with His brother
He continued to watch aimlessly until he heard a distinct knock against The door when a guards
head poked out and cleared his throat
"She has awoken sir"
In a flash, Lucas came running. Pushing people aside so he could still know- could still see that she is alive and walking
Without knocking, he barged in the room. Savanna's head whipped And face him a startled look. Sheepishly he slowed and close the door gently as he cleared his throat
"Hi" he's voice was hoarse but he really didn't care. The only thing he could feel was relief when he saw her eyes open and looking at him oddly
"What happe-" then as if everything came back to her, she frantically searched the room only to see it was only them before she watched him brokenly
"Amanda" she begged
Looking down he murmured "in coma"
Then she let out a big sigh of relief before she spoke again
"I thought she would die" it sounded strangled that Lucas couldn't help but walk to her Side and hugged her fiercely
"Vashka wasn't aiming for Amanda's death" Savanna froze at his statement but let him continue
"She was aiming for her babe"
This time, Savanna turned but flinched when her head began to spin but she asked anyway
"She was carrying a child ?"
He nodded
"Turns out Amanda hid her scent well" he murmured "and I really don't have a clue why she did it or if Raphael ever knew about it"
"Where is she now" She said in hesitation
"She with the packs doctor, Looks like we might need to find shelter then"
"What do you mean?"
Lucas contemplated if he should bring this topic only to make her worry more but then sighed when he realize, Savanna is suborn so he said
"A lot have died in the attack, It seems like Vashka's soldiers were focus on the north side of Ostar, Now the elders wants us to leave their land"
"Those cowards" She hissed then asked again "How about the alphas?"
"Most of them Agreed to help but this time the Elders want out" He bit back a curse. He knew those cowards didn't want to lose members, How they could hide when their world would go down while their people suffered
"What are we going to then? And- and Raphael? Does he know his wife is hurt?"
"It's fine" He's throat constricted "We'll just have to go back to my kingdom. A cousin of mine Is their Alpha"
It was the only placed and the only relative both Raphael and him had who lived for centuries
'And for Raphael" he trailed off and saw Savanna looking at him intensely
" He doesn't know"
"He what?"
"He doesn't know" He said it louder this time
"Lucas, That's her wife in the other side of the room" Savanna said plainly while Lucas could only flinch at her tone. She wasn't mad, or sad, nor happy about it either. She was neutral
And it made him flinch again
"I can't"
"I cant answer his call cause if I do then I don't know what to do" He looked up and Savanna was surprise when she saw the vulnerability that was etched in his handsome face
"I don't want to see the betrayal when he knows that I didn't protect her, When he realized I forgotten about her when I promised him"
"I promised him Savanna but all I thought was you or What would happen to you if I was too late"
"Lucas" It was the only things she said and now he felt guilty
"Call Him"
And for the first time, Savanna saw the little boy in him. The boy who learned to be a man in a very young age
The boy who fought for his kingdom only to fall in failure
This boy, the boy who fought his hardest to save her
And so she couldn't help but feel herself opening to this lost boy
