Mira-Belle's P.O.V

Oh my god, how much longer. I shift my glance over to the clock sitting on the wall. Today is the very last day of school for me, ever. My name is Mira-Belle, I am eighteen and in the twelfth grade of high school. But at the moment it seriously looked like the second hand on the clock isn't even moving, then I hear the soft chanting, barely louder than a whisper.

29, 28, 27, 26-

I turn around slightly in my desk to see that most of the class are also staring at the clock in anticipation. I must admit the sight was hilarious. The countdown got to ten and I decided to join in.

...6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

*Ring

"WHOO!" everyone cheered. Papers and textbooks went flying around the room, teens jumped up on top of their desks and partied like wild animals. I too got up and threw my maths book into the air letting its contents spill about the classroom floor. I stepped up onto my table and danced about like a maniac, letting my hair fall out around my shoulders.

When I was close to pooped I got off of the desk and picked up my belongings that I had thrown around. I had been careful to hang on to my assignment though, I didn't want to lose that. I pushed my way through the still noisy partying crowd in the room and made my way to the teachers desk. She was sitting there with crooked glasses staring in astonishment at the class.

"Um, hello," I snapped my fingers in her face. She blinked a few times then looked up at me from where she was sitting.

"Y-y-yes," she stuttered. I rolled my eyes then smiled at her.

"Here's my assignment," I say loudly over the crowd and slap the eleven page document on her desk then walked straight out of the room before she could say anything.

I found my friends in the mess hall standing around our table, the table we had been eating at for the past three years. The boys were there too.

"Mira!" my three bestest friends in the whole wide world called to me. I ran up to them and leapt right into their open arms.

"Oh my gosh, can you believe it. It's the last day of school," Kelsey squealed in excitement, jumping up and down.

"Whoa, whoa, calm down there sugar buns," Caden said to her holding down her arms.

By the way, Kelsey and Caden are twins. They both have dark brown hair and round faces. Caden is slightly shorter and darker then Kelsey and also thinner. Harley is the tom-boy out of the group, she took engineering as an elective for the whole of high school. Harley has long blonde hair and is very thin even though she's probably the strongest out of all of us, even some of the boys.

"Haha, don't get too excited Kelsey. You haven't even gotten your report yet," Jacob laughed.

"Shut up, I don't care about that at the moment. Right now it's time to partaaay."

Kelsey grabbed her sister's arm and pulled her suddenly towards the front doors of the school. I laughed at the scene and grabbed Harley's arm. She groaned once and rolled her eyes but allowed herself to be pulled along. The boys followed close behind us.

Our group weaved in and out of the crowded hallway to the front of the school. There were even people making out against the lockers. I see the doors right in front of me and with Harley's help, we kick the doors wide open on impact. I ran down the stairs taking them in two, while Harley just jumped the whole lot all together and landed then rolled. We all sprawled ourselves on the grass lawn, out of breath. Jacob, Kyle, Matt and Will joined us.

The eight of us just lay there, watching in contentment as the students spilled about the area. If you were wondering, the boys aren't our boyfriends. We have all been close friends since 7th grade.

"What a sight," Kyle breathed out heavily. "If you ask me they look like headless chickens," Harley stated, she was always sarcastic and witty like that.

"I gotta admit, we had some pretty good times here," Will said turning his head to face us. "Oh yeah, remember that time that the janitor caught you making out with Courtney in her locker cause you both fell out. How the hell did you two even fit in that thing," Matt laughed at his friend and Will's face went red as he turned away from us.

"Anyway," Caden interrupted looking at Matt. "We have ten minutes 'till the bus leaves, anyone you guys gotta say goodbye to," she questioned. We shook our heads.

"Nah, not really. Besides we'll be seeing everyone again tonight."

We started talking about all of the fun things we did in high school together and all the fun things we have to look forward to. So before knew it, the time had come get on the bus for the last time.

The yellow vehicle pulled into the parking lot and screeched to a halt, the door slid open revealing the man sitting in the drivers seat. According to Harley, he reminded her of the bus driver off the Simpsons. I guess he did look like him a little with his dark curly hair hanging around his shoulders.

"Hey Otto," she called to him. The man turned to look at her and laughed. He knew that she thought he looked like the Simpsons character. I climbed on after her together we raced to the back of the bus. She whirled around and flung herself into the middle seat at the same time I lunged for it,but instead I fall on her.

"What the actual fuck," she laughed pushing me off her, plonking me into the seat to her right. I was laughing so much I almost slid off, but she held me there still laughing. Kelsey and Caden also raced to take the remaining seats next to Harley. They too fell on her when the flew towards the same spot.

"Oh lord, you guys are a nightmare, I swear," she yelled out attracting the attention of those climbing on the bus after us.

"Whoops," she whispered under her breath in the way that she does making me burst into fits of laughter all over again.

My friends stared at me blankly as I continued my laughing fest for another three minutes. The boys boarded as well and took the two rows of seats in front us. When I finally settled down we were pulling out of the parking lot. Us four girls turned to look through the back window at the school as it disappeared around the tall bushes that marked the entry to the school.

Kelsey started sniffing then cried, it was a very emotional afternoon for all of us. Her sister and Harley put their arms around in a comforting way. The boys turned around in there seats to face us. Kyle reached over from his seat in front of Kelsey and wrapped his arms around her body in a tight embrace. The two of them stayed there for a while as he whispered soothing words into her ear. When she finally pulled back from him she sniffed a few times then laughed.

"Sorry," she croaked.

"Don't be," Caden blurted. "We're all sad. But just remember, we have our whole lives ahead of us. How fun is that gonna be."

Kelsey smiled at her sister. Harley leaned over to whisper to me.

"I wonder what she's feeling at the moment. You know, how Kyle hugged her." I thought for a moment then, finally got it. I burst out into another laughing fit.

"Oh god," Harley sighed burying her face in her hands, shaking her head. This made me laugh even more. Everyone stared at me. I seriously could not stop this time. Kelsey then started laughing with me, then Caden joined in and finally Harley. The boys just looked at us with shock as we rolled around in our seats. Soon the whole bus was laughing and no one knew why.

Eventually the bus stopped at my street. I hugged my all friends goodbye then turned and walked down the aisle to the door. I hopped off and watched as the bus pulled away onto the street again. My three friends got on their knees on their seats and waved at me from the window, I smiled and raised my hand to return the gesture. I watched until I could no longer see the bus, I turned and started down my street towards my house which was at the very end in the cul-de-sack.

I walked up the path to my front door and fished around in my backpack for the keys. I suddenly worried that I might've left them at school, until I hear a metallic sound jingling at the bottom of my bag. I grabbed the ring and swung the individual keys around until I found the right one. I shoved it into the keyhole and had to use a bit of strength to turn it as key and lock had both become rusty over the years.

I pushed open my wooden door and felt a chill run down my spine as the warmth of the sun left my back. I closed the door and lock it then kicked off my shoes and threw them down the hallway in the direction of my bedroom. I walked into the kitchen and dropped my bag on the marble counter.

"I'm hungry," I huffed to no one in particular. So turning around in a 360 I faced the fridge. I pulled open the heavy food-filled door and a waft of cold air hit my body making me shiver. I wish I had someone to cuddle up to, then I thought of my crush that I'd had for two years and blushed uncontrollably, thank god I was at home where no one could see me. I quickly dismissed the thought before I started fantasizing anything and grabbed a bowl of pasta from the shelf and swung the door shut again.

I walked over to the living room and plonked myself down on the uncomfortable leather couch. I stared up at the blank T.V wishing for it to turn on, but it obviously doesn't. I see the remote on the coffee table not even two feet away from me. I glare at it as if it was mocking me and then sigh.

"Screw it, I'll just eat," I say out loud, because I'm way to lazy to pick up the remote.

Ding

I look down at my phone to see I have a message from Caden.

"What are you wearing tonight"

Oh shit, it's graduation tonight

Jumping up from the couch, not even bothering to grab my phone, I run past the kitchen and as gently as possible I put the bowl down while running past. I dash into the bathroom and have a long warm shower.

********

As I step out of the hot steamy room I shuffled my way towards my bedroom with a towel wrapped around my body.

"Hi Sweetie, how was your last day," Mum suddenly appeared around the corner scaring the crap out of me.

"I was good," I say. "When do you want to leave."

"How about in twenty minutes so you can dry yourself properly and get dressed."

"Sounds good. Thanks Mum." And she disappears into the living room.

I enter my bedroom and close the door behind me, then I wipe my wet feet on the carpet and go to my closet. As I open the door I can see my graduation dress that I bought a few weeks ago. I smiled at the sight. It had filly turquoise blue top attached to a white lace skirt that stopped just above the knees, it was beautiful.

I quickly change into it then apply my makeup. First concealer then foundation, then bronzer and blush, then eyeliner and mascara. I put on a rose coloured lip gloss that tastes like strawberries and I'm done.

"Mum. Are you ready to go," I call out as I put my brushes back in their bag.

I hear her reply, "I'll be waiting in the car."

Before I leave I stand in front of my tall mirror and give myself a little pep talk.

"Okay Mira. You go rock this thing."
