It was a bright summer morning in London. A contempt sigh could be heard in one of the long corridors in Scotland Yard. A young woman, the age of twenty, sat under a window, lost in thought. Her hair was long, light brown, and curly, reaching to her shoulders. Her eyes were a bright, emerald green, and she was actually, a bit on the short side. She wore a frilly pink button up dress with black lacings along with white and black victorian boots. A pink bow was tied in her hair, and a silver owl necklace was hanging from her neck. (Basically, the girl above)
She was unaware of the small, fat man speaking to her until he all but yelled her name.
"Detective Constable Bordon, are you paying attention?!"
"Ah!" She shrieked, falling off of her seat, only now being pulled out of her thoughts. She stood up, rubbing her rump.
"Sorry, Deputy Commissioner, I was lost in thought. It's such a beautiful day outside, I couldn't help but get lost in the scenery. It must be a good sign, it being my first day and all!" The young woman, by the name of Elizabeth Andrew Bordon, otherwise known as Lizzie, replied happily, in a thick English accent.
"That makes no difference to anything! Maybe if you saw a lucky red bat..." The Deputy Commissioner replied, quite rudely, I might add.
The Deputy Commissioner  was a very short and stout man, with raven black hair in a bowl cut style, as well as a matching mustache. He wore a white shirt under a green, red, and beige sweater, along with dark green pants and black dress shoes. Over all, he wasn't a very "desirable looking" individual.
"Anyways," he continued, "look, you've been assigned to what only can be described as a 'back office.' I wouldn't be at all surprised if it closed down tomorrow, quite frankly."
"Yes, but isn't that the place where all the cases that can't be solved get sent? Where all of the real hard cases get cracked wide open?" Lizzie said, a smile gracing her lips and determination sparkling in her eyes.
Another man stepped up to the two, one who was defiantly older in age. He was short as well, and had whitish-grey hair, as well as a mustache and a small beard. He wore a light and dark purple jacket over a black shirt, and wore black pants as well as black dress shoes. He had rosy cheeks and an over all jolly and wise demeanor about him.
"Quite so, Detective Constable Bordon. Don't let Deputy Commissioner Chan put you off. I'm sure you'll do very well there." The approacher said, in an attempt to calm the girl's nerves.
"Thank you, Commissioner!" Lizzie replied with a smile.
The Deputy Commissioner, however, was not as pleased.
"You'll have to work very hard to prove yourself, Bordon, considering your performance up to now." The Deputy Commissioner pointed out.
This made Lizzie quite embarrassed. "I know that I did particularly bad in my exams, but it was only because I had a bit of bad Balti the night before!" She claimed, her cheeks turning a bright scarlet.
"Ha ha ha. Don't worry, DC Bordon. I've put you with a very special Inspector. He won't let you put a foot wrong. And there's not an officer in the force that can match his powers of deduction." The Commissioner said with a smile.
"Oh? I'm working with someone that good?" Lizzie asked, intrigued. A smile graced her lips.
"Oh, yes. In fact, I doubt there's a mystery he couldn't solve if he put his mind to it."
This ignited something in Lizzie, making her very excited.
"That's just grand! I'll go and introduce myself right away, then!" She said, running off to the designated room.
The Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner watched as the young woman ran off, slowing to a walk as she got a distance away.
"Are you sure about this, Commissioner?" The Deputy Commissioner asked, crossing his arms. "He's so unstable, you could be putting her in danger."
"We just have to have faith." The Commissioner replied."For all his faults, I still believe in Alfendi Layton.

Lizzie slowed down, and smirked to herself, walking a a moderate pace. She hummed a small tune, quite happy with it.
"Lizzie Bordon took an ax, and gave her mother forty whacks~,
And when she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one~!"
She giggled, and fingered the owl necklace which hung around her neck. "Not a case he couldn't solve, huh? We'll just see about that."
