"I left my life for you!" Nate stood on the cliff's edge, backed away from his older brother.
"Nate, I-I..." Sam's voice trailed off, eyes fixed to the ground, afraid to look at his brother.
"Boo-hoo. Now, aren't we all sad." Rafe scowled.
"I only need one of you to find the treasure. So who will it be?" Rafe smugly said.
"No. You're not laying a hand on my brother." Nate stood his ground.
No matter how Sam's lie had torn him apart, he loved him, and he was family. Apart from Elena, Sam was the only person he had in his life.
"Well, you're half right. I can just kill you instead." Rafe turned his attention to Nate.
Rafe raised his gun, pointing it directly at Nate's heart. He cocked it, finger placed on the trigger.
And he shot.
Everything seemed to move in slow motion. Sam leapt in front of his brother, blocking off the shot as it embedded itself into his own shoulder.
Nate left his life for Sam.
And Sam did the same.
