• Telling friends you are a therian/otherkin •
So you want to tell your close friends you are a therian/otherkin? That's good, but make sure you feel ready to tell them about it first. Because the first thing you have to be doing when telling your friends that you are a therian/otherkin is for you to be comfortable with talking with them. And if it's not today, then it can wait for another time. You don't have to rush things. Take your time.
The second part is to go slow on them. Maybe ask them a few questions first. Like if they believe in spirit animals or if they meditate or interested in anything else? If they have heard of what therianthropy/otherkinity is. If their comment was negative about not believing in it or that it is stupid, don't reply with hate. Understand that everyone has their choice. You can tell them more about it to see if it changes their mind of view about them. If they still come out negative, let them be. Their negativity and insults should not let you get involved. If they are curious about therianthropy/otherkinity, you can tell them more of what it is about and show them videos or show them other people who can explain them and answer their questions. Third you must slowly approach them with signs. Maybe if they are accepting enough to make you comfortable, you can start wearing gear around them. When the time comes, you can tell them that you are a therian/otherkin and that you are beautifully made that way. Note: 1) Being a therian/otherkin isn't a way to say that you are proven to be better and more different than everyone else. You are still human and that even when you are different, other people are different like you. 2) Some friends will be more accepting that others. Some will be comfortable and then some will not. The definition of a true friend is one that is loyal to you, tells you the truth, and that will stick by your back always. If they can't accept you being you, why stay? As a friend, they must learn to accept the differences and to learn and embrace them. There won't be a change about it and they can't do anything thing about it. Remember that you are beautiful, unique, creative, intelligent, and many more that other people don't understand. If one or more friends leave you because of you being a therian/otherkin, then they weren't true from the beginning. Remember that you aren't alone and that there are more people out there who will accept you for you and that will always stay by your side! And I am here also if anyone wants to talk!
