I panted, breathless with excitement, as I sprinted myself as fast as I could back home. A huge grin plastered onto my face as I thought of my older cousin visiting my house today, I couldn't wait to see her! She could show me new things today, like flowers and what it feels like to be a grown up. I quickly reached my small house and threw open the door smiling like a big fool, and ran through the dining room.
"I'm home!" I childishly exclaimed, as I jumped up and down. Hearing the footstep of my parents and cousins run down the stairs, I shrugged off my backpack and sat down on a chair.
"Hello, my baby girl. How was school?" My mother gently asked, as she smacked a huge wet kiss on my forehead. Ew! I internally shivered at the wet feeling of lip gloss remaining onto my forehead. I quickly frowned at my mothers words.
"Hey! I am not a baby, I am almost eleven years old! I am a big girl now, like Akiya. Right, nee-chan?" I asked with childlike wonder slipping out into my question. Akiya gracefully smiled and sank to her knees, reaching out for a hug.
"I hope you don't grow up too fast. Besides, I am only 16 years old ya know? I am not that old." She delicately answered, as she was wearing a cautious smile. I was beginning to wonder why Akiya was acting so quiet today, maybe her younger sister was being mean again. I brightly smiled at my favorite cousin, who was like a sister.
"I want to be just like you when I grow up!" I cheerfully responded, and didn't realize the look of sadness and pain flashing in her eyes. Akiya cleared her throat and tightly hugged me.
"Will you always love me? No matter what?" She whispered tight with a foreign emotion that I couldn't recognize. Still a little unsure, I smiled just for her and whispered right back into her ear.
"I will always love you, because you are just like my sister. No matter what, believe it!" I made a silent joke with the catchphrase of the show, Naruto. I felt Akiya stiffen, and felt dread leak into my stomach, did I say the wrong thing? I slowly felt relief when I saw my sister like figure wear a smile. But why was it so sad, I questioned. I felt Akiya chuckle at our silent joke as I saw my parents confused facial expressions, and I soon cracked a grin as well. Pulling away from our hug, I saw Akiya slowly back away, almost like she was trying to preserve this moment. I shrugged it off, I would ask her later.
"Honey, how come you came home so late?" My father questioned with a fatherly tone, as his eyebrow was raised in a form of disbelief. I was slightly confused, and look at the clock hanging on the wall next to the door. It was already 5:30, I guess I took too long coming home. I glanced at my father, while I casually shrugged. Hearing his reluctant sigh, I felt my lips slowly pull up into a smirk.
"Baby, why don't you do homework in your bedroom while I make dinner?" My mother gently ordered me. Shooting her a playful glare, I slowly trudged towards the stairs towards my room. I opened my bedroom door only to be greeted by the familiar scent of apples and mango's. I sauntered towards my desk and pulled my homework out of my bag. I sometimes despised being in advanced class, I didn't want to learn about pre-algebra while i'm 9 years old! I carefully moved my Naruto action figures to the edges of my desk, so that they wouldn't get in the way of my load of homework. Silently heaving to myself, I felt my body wanting to rest. Glancing at the clock one more time, I decided that it wouldn't hurt if I took a small power nap and with that I closed my eyes.
What I didn't know was that when I woke up, everything would change.
--------------------------------
I yawned slowly, as I gradually stretched my body from the awkward position I had slept in. Peering over to the side, I noticed that I slept for five hours! It was already ten, I got out of my chair and pushed the door open. Immediately, I could tell something was wrong. It was too quiet, and the lights were still on. Feeling the fear starting to sludge through my veins like ice, I quickly went down the stairs to check if my family was downstairs. I wasn't prepared for what I saw next. My mother was laid face down on the floor with a huge gash down her back, and multiple stab wounds littered her body. It looked as though she was trying to crawl away, I was felt frozen. This couldn't be possible, my child like mind was trying to reason. But it was all too real, it wasn't a sick dream that I had just made up. I quickly called out for my father and Akiya. The desperation was all too clear in my voice as I walked around the living room looking for another dreaded corpse. Walking into the dining room, I saw my father leaning back in his chair, neck slit across for all to see. The blood was exactly like a curtain covering his neck and dripping down his ice cold body. All I had left was Akiya, I regretfully thought.
"Akiya!" I called out into the too silent house, and stumbled across a shadowed figure in the kitchen. I was about to drop in relief until I saw the bloodied knife in her hands. I wore a look of terror on my young face. Dropping to my knees, I felt despair wrap itself around my heart and felt ready to vomit. Akiya had killed my family, she had killed my parents. My cousin, my sister like figure had killed them. No! I couldn't believe it, I had to ask.
"Why?" I miserably croaked, as I felt fat, hot tears stream down my face in a steady flow. She turned around to face me. I swore for a second I saw pity flash through her eyes, until an insane smile spread across her face and a sharp gleam shone in her eyes.
"They were disgusting, they don't deserve to carry the last name, Kagehoshi. They were a miserable example of our bloodline, so someone had to end them." She sweetly responded, looking straight into my eyes. I felt a hot surge of anger to her reasoning and snapped.
"You killed them because you didn't think that they were worthy enough?!" I screamed at her, outrage clearly defined by my tone. She nodded casually as though we were talking about the weather. I sprung up to my feet and tried to kick her, but it ended up in vain. Feeling a tight grip on my ankle, she swung me around and through me roughly against the wall, making my body go limp for a few seconds.
"Oh Hisae, what should I do to you?" She asked playfully until she clapped her hands like an excited child. I felt sickened by this displayed act. "I know! I'll tell you about our family background!" She excitedly informed me with a somewhat bigger smile than the last.
"We're ninjas, just like in the Naruto world! We are also very distant cousins with the Uchiha clan! Can't you believe it? Isn't it exciting?" She questioned left and right. Disbelief formed onto my face, the Naruto world is only an anime. She truly is insane. Akiya observing my facial features and got the picture I didn't believe her, which made her wear a small pout onto her face. Going at an incredibly fast rate with her hands, she started to create familiar symbols that I recognized. She was doing a jutsu, I couldn't believe it.
"Summoning technique!" Akiya shouted into the deafening silence, and a large spider appeared. The spider greeted her , and then was quickly summoned back into her dwelling. I was in shock, things were going to fast for me to comprehend and I could just barely keep up. I looked into her eyes which began to shine an unnatural golden color. Akiya wore a teasing smirk, and eyed me saying the words that I would probably remember for a long time.
"Ready for an adventure, "sister"? Whenever you smile, just think of me!"
Coming with those last words, the world started to shine with different shades of greens, reds, and yellows. But, I couldn't see Akiya, that disgusting monster of a person. With those last thoughts, I slowly closed my eyes waiting for the light show to be over. It went by sooner than I thought, and I hesitantly peeked though one eye. All I saw was the crystal blue sky, and the great green trees swinging with the wind. I slowly got up to my feet, and walked over to a small puddle to look into my reflection. I saw that I had an extremely dark shade of indigo colored eyes, the color could almost be misinterpreted as onyx from a distance. My hair was a shade of dark burgundy and was cut to make my bangs longer than the rest of my fair. Almost like a fashionable bob, but what I certainly did catch was that I looked like a six year old and that my clothes were torn and bloodied. I slowly walked towards the dirt path, merely trying to figure out where I was. I looked down to my feet bored of the same view nature had provided, and didn't stop until I felt a huge shadow loom over me. Slowly tailing my gaze to the source, I stood in front of the two familiar doors to my favorite show, Naruto. I was standing right in front of the Konoha gates. I almost felt a smile stretch upon my face until I remembered that monsters words, and simply scowled instead.
I noticed that instead of Izumo and Kotetsu guarding the gate, only one ninja stood watch. Maybe I didn't catch them on their shift, I analyzed to myself and saw the guard look at me. His eyes went large with shock, but soon recovered and quickly walked over to me.
"Are you from the Kagehoshi clan?" He seriously asked as I numbly nodded my head yes to his question. "I need to get you to Lord Hokage right away, hold on tight." He ordered and swooped me up onto his arms and leaped his way to the looming Hokage tower. I was cradled to his warm chest, and felt the relaxing breeze roll across my skin. Suddenly, the ninja stopped moving.
"We have arrived." He announced as he softly dropped my to by little feet, and I walked behind him to the Hokages office. Knocking on the old wood twice, I heard a muffled voice answer.
"Come in" The voice tiredly responded, and with that the ninja pushed through the doors bringing me with him. Not able to get a clear view of the Hokage, I stood emotionless as the ninja reported his sighting.
"Lord Hokage, I have found the missing survivor. She wasn't captured, instead she was found in the woods. I am sorry to say, that she is the only one that wasn't killed in her clan. As you already know, the criminal Akiya massacred her clan only leaving her small cousin behind." The ninja reported to his leader, and the only response was a heavy, sad sigh.
"Can I see her?" A male voice asked. The ninja politely moved out of the way and I could clearly see the Hokage. I silently gasped, it wasn't Lord third. Instead of an old man, one of the legendary hero's sat on top of a leather chair. It was Kakashi.
