**Sophia’s POV**

I was sitting up in the top of the tree. A huge, beautiful oak tree. I wasn’t afraid of heights, so I sat there watching the guards fail miserably at climbing the tree from below. I sighed, they were kind of pathetic. I remembered what Demin had told me.

“We have no time to explain. Wait here and whatever you do, don’t move,” he dropped my off on the top of this tree and disappeared. I had been in the middle of a totally wicked battle. I never remembered training for swordsmanship, but it felt like I definitely had. No one got past me, I was way too quick and skilled. I moved so fast,  couldn’t even see the sword. And my hand disappeared at some points. All I remember was slowly loosing sight of my friends. I studied my sword. Well, I certainly hoped they were all okay. They were, right? Of course. I felt like I’d totally missed out. But, hey, I was doing great here.

No matter what you do, don’t move. I narrowed my eyes as his voice echoed through my head.

Why? Why couldn’t I? I should be able to help! If I got in trouble I could be gone in a blink of the eye. I smiled. Yes! I could go! I’d be fine!

I was down and out of the tree so fast, they didn’t even notice I was gone.

“Hey, idiots!!” I called from behind them. They spun around, and looked at me. I crossed my eyes and stuck out my tongue, I was gone before they could do anything else.

I didn’t pay attention to the world spinning around me. I focused on finding Demin and everyone else. When I found that cave again, I spotted guards pilling in. Gun shots were firing off like mad.

“Demin!” I heard Natasha cry, “We need to run!”

“No!” Demin spat, “Not with the chance they find the others!”

So, they did need my help! Well, help had come! I was all in powerful, they could never catch me!

I sliced and hacked so fast, it took minutes and -50 guards to realize they had another enemy.

Guards that hadn’t yet entered the cave, all were looking at the dead guards. They looked purely dumb-founded. I stopped running. There’s eyes looked they were going to pop out of their heads.

“Oh, that’s right!” I smiled a huge, cheesy smile, “I’m too fast for you!!” They jumped at me, but I was already at the entrance, destroying more. They ran that way, I bolted right through the middle, slicing some in half.

“Who’s next?” I was smiling evilly from on top of the waterfall. They gathered together,

“Split up!” I heard one hiss. I rolled my eyes, my legs dangling down the cliff. Splitting up wouldn’t make a difference. But, they did so. When Seth hired his army, he thought of strength not brains. Brains are more important. Charging head first, even with a gun, did nothing against someone who could move at the speed of light.

I froze. Wait a minute… Hadn’t I lost my powers? Wasn’t I supposed to not be able to run, because of that stuff that was on the bomb?

While I was thinking, one guard got to his senses and shot at me. My eyes widened, and a bullet dug into my shoulder. Pain seared through me, making me dizzy. I started to fall, but quickly jolted backwards. I was still fast, I could stand the pain to help Demin and Natasha. I was going to rush to cause more destruction, but I found hands holding my wrists down,

“Not this time you little stinker,”

Crap, I was caught. This is the last thing I expected to happen. Maybe I should’ve listened to Demin after all. I didn’t cry out though, it would make him disappointed. I just hung my head.

I tried to lash out, but I was on the verge of passing out from the amount of blood loss.

The guard kicked me, forcing me to move. It didn’t take long until he stopped. I finally stopped starring at my feet, we were outside of the school. A jolt of shock went through me, I didn’t know we were that close to the school!

He opened the door, and led me inside. He wasn’t gentle, my wrists were acing.

10 men were following us from behind, one stepped forward now. He had a key. He lifted the front door matt and clicked it open. Inside was a flight of stairs, too obviously leading to the underground tunnel.

I shook my head sadly at the memories, and walking in. I really should’ve listened to Demin….

-------20 minutes later-----

I watched as they slammed the cellar door closed, and locked it. I sat back in the corner, and smacked my head on the wall.

Sophia? Natasha? Oh, so I had a mind link with a Trowley, too. Did we all? Maybe it was like a package that came with the powers.

Natasha?

You’re still in the tree, right?

Well, are you guys alright?

Fighting to the death. Are. You. In. The. Tree?

I bit my lip. I didn’t want them to worry, but then again, what if I got killed? I remembered the last time I was here, they didn’t kill me immediately. I hadn’t seen Seth in a while, either, maybe they were trying to capture the others. I didn’t reply for a while. I shook my head sadly

Yes.

Good.

I looked around thoughtfully. So, they couldn’t hear all our thoughts, just what we intestinally meant for them to hear? Strange, yet useful. If she could hear all my thoughts that would mean she would know about me not being in the tree, which added extra worry. If they knew where I really was, they would come to rescue me. And I didn’t want that.

I rolled my shoulders, I would get out eventually, right?

**Silver’s POV**

I heard a evil laugh behind me,

“Found you!”

My wrists were grabbed onto, and I was locked. Not able to move. Before anyone could react, Anna, and Will were caught too. One of the guards picked up Sol.

“Should we just kill this one now?”

He directed this at the man behind me. I wanted to knee him between the legs at the moment, really fricken badly.

“Bah. Let him live. Or suffer. For now.”

I flinched. Harsh. At least they weren’t going to kill him, there was a chance he could survive. But, then again, I knew where they were taking us. It was obvious. I looked at Will. He met my gaze, I found deep sorrow there. Seth was dead, and all we had to do was rid of the rest of the guards, and we all get captured. It was almost over, but started again.

I knew exactly why he was sad.

In every action movie I’d ever seen, you kill the main guy and everything else dies down. A chill ran up me. Another thing that was totally backwards. Maybe my life was meant to be ike this, anything but normal.

Demin!  I cried to him, remembering the mind link.

Sorry, Silver, in the middle of almost dying here, he grunted back.

Ok, get back to me when you’re done. You’ll probably find me in the cellar.

WHAT?! I heard the disbelief and panic in his voice. I flinched as the guard kicked me, forcing me to move forward and focus on what was going on around me. At least the guard with Will walked by me. Woop! One upside in the whole thing!

Yea, they kind of found us.

He let out a deep breath, as if calming himself. Making sure he didn’t explode. Well, where are you?

No idea whatsoever.

That helps.

Sorry.

Well, I’ll have Sophia help or something. She has her speed back somehow.

Really? So, that stuff wears off?

Not from what I’ve learned. But apparently so.

I didn’t reply. He would have to figure this whole thing out with Sophia, and he probably needed to focus on fighting guards.

We walked. All I did was focus on the ground, on my feet. I shivered. For some reason I felt like I’d done this before. Marched with someone holding my hands behind my back, staring at the ground. We walked for a long time, way longer then it seemed we should’ve. My feet ached incredibly. I finally looked up. I thought we were going to the school, I was wrong. We were in the middle of some deserted place. It was still cold, the ground was covered in frost. I watched the sun along the horizon. Deer God, had all of that only happened in a day? And when was the last time I’d slept?

It felt like forever ago. Though, was it really that long ago? I couldn’t even remember.

I locked gazes with Will. He smiled. But it was half-hearted. I could tell how scared he was. I wish I could just cuddle up with him and vanish from the world. Too bad, that stuff just isn’t possible.

I mentally slapped myself for thinking that. A month ago I would’ve thought powers were impossible. OH HO HO! Look at me now!

Before I could really think about it, my feet gave away under me. I didn’t actual mean to, but if I was trying to escape it worked. The guard flipped over me, and face planted. He let me go too. My feet were working just fine now. I shivered, it had felt like someone was controlling me.

Honestly Demin muttered Did you even try to escape?!

WOE WOE WOE!!! Wait, you can control me?!

Why, yes, I can. But I usually won’t. And don’t just sit there like an idiot, help your friends!!

I got up. My brain was fuzzy, did my powers still work? I looked at my palms. Nope. I flapped my wings. Well, that’s something. I smiled at my claws, and used them as a weapon of mass destruction.

“Run!!” I told Will. Naturally, I saved him first. I lashed out at the guard holding Anna. He fell to the ground, not unconscious or anything. But that didn’t matter. I spun to face the last one so fast, I knocked him out with my tail anyway.

Now, I had to be careful here. If I wasn’t, I could kill Sol too. With that arrow in his back, if he flipping over and landed the wrong way, it goes straight through him and he dies. Almost instantly. Nobody had ran like I wanted them too. Both Anna and Will were still standing, a safe distance away.

“Go!” I said, “I’ll be right after you!”

Anna nodded, “Good luck!” she ran.

Will didn’t move.

“Please!” I called, “It won’t take me that long…”

He didn’t move. I sighed, and gave up. Carefully, I gained on the guard. I was trying to think on how to approach this, when he randomly pulled out a knife, and pressed it against Sols neck. I stopped moving,

“You move any closer,” he spat, “He dies,” His voice was low and angry, but I could feel doubt and faint fear in it. He was afraid of me. I rolled my eyes,

“Ok. Then you die too,”

He glared, “I’m not afraid of death,”

“Oh? What about torture?” Sure, it was a threat, but not a worthy one. I could never torture someone. I could only kill because I had too at this point. And I made sure to do it quickly. How could I ever torture someone?

“Y-yea right,” His voice shook slightly. I smiled evilly. His brain had obviously went, “Threat notified,”

He snapped out of the fear.

“No,” he spat, “I don’t care. I stand before Seth’s memory. I will never back down. I will never be afraid!”

I lifted an eyebrow, he sounded like a little kid! Wait a minute… I looked closer at his facial features. He was a little kid! Well, almost. He looked like 13. How the heck…? I stared at him, dumb-founded.

He laughed at me, “What? Too cheesy,”

“You jerk!” I punched his arm. He laughed, and chucked the plastic knife aside,

“Just got to keep you on your toes!”

Will ran over to us, “Excuse me,” he said, “But what just happened? One moment you look like you’re going to kill each other, the next you’re laughing like old time buddies?!”

Demin rolled his eyes. In a flash he was himself again. Well, his human self.

Will blinked.

“Well,” I said, “What I don’t understand is how you managed to get here so fast and unnoticed by us?”

“Are you kidding? I’m surprised you didn’t hear me knock out that guard and replace myself with him! I have to admit, I got that transformation spell pretty dang good though! What do you say?”

Me and Will exchanged a glance, and shrugged.

“Well,” I said, “I say we go get Anna and Sophia and-”

I froze.

Will immediately looked concerned, “What?”

“What about Jacob?”

Demin sighed, “Don’t worry. He’s with a well-known US solider we know,” he winked.

“My dad?” I yelped excitedly, “He’s here?”

Demin nodded.

I smiled hugely, “Fantastic! Can we finish killing these guards now?!”

Demin sighed, “Ok. I’ll go through the trouble to move every good guy out of the way, so I can totally burn the guards. Litteraly,”

I couldn’t tell whether or not he was being sarcastic, “Wait, you serious?”

“No! You know how hard that would be? We have a lot of people fighting with us,”

“Then, let’s go kick a-”

Will held up his hand, “Wait!” We starred at him. He blinked, “Silver, your dad is in the army?”

I nodded. He frowned, “Wow, I didn’t know that.”

I shrugged, and started off the direction where Anna had disappeared. I was still trying to fully process what had just happened. Somehow, it didn’t make sense. And I had a feeling I shouldn’t trust Demin.

I thought of something.

Demin?

Yes?

Where are you?

Fighting guards, why?

Whoever that guy was, he didn’t study. I spun around. They were gone. Yes, they. Will was too. And Sol. All. Gone.

I ran the way Anna had left.

I trekked for a long time, running as fast as I could. It wasn’t like she would go anywhere but straight, and not that far either. She’d been unwilling to leave in the first place. I’d be surprised if she went that far at all. I was surprised she didn’t immediately come back.

I never found her. No matter how long I looked. It was obvious she was gone, just like that. And I knew where she was, it was so obvious. Somehow that guard had gotten her. I shook my head, I had to find them. And fast.

They’re too strong. I heard his voice whisper.

What?

The guards. They’ve gotten stronger. You and Will are the only ones left. All the rest of us are in the cellar now.

Even Andrea? What I had thought was she was somewhere causing mass destruction.

Yes.

Wait, Will isn’t there?

No… Isn’t he with you?

No. No. No!!

I threw my head back and cried, “Will?!”
