He watched her with a fascination. He loved the way her body would bend as she danced, the way her expression was always one of ferocious concentration, the way her face would light up whenever she got a dance move correct.
He knew everything about her. Like how her favourite take out place was KFC, or how she preferred to listen to My Chemical Romance rather than Arianna Grande, like other girls her age. He knew she liked her hair long, and that she wanted to dye her hair a lilac colour. He knew that she wanted multiple piercings, including snakebites. He knew that she wanted a tattoo on her right shoulder blade. He knew everything. He was, of course, her closest friend.
And that's why he must keep his facination with her to himself. Not one person can know about it.
He loves her, yes, but he loves her company too much, that if he were to ask her out, and she rejected him, he would be too broken up to ever look at her ever again. So he ignored his stupid crush, and continued being her best friend, forcing a smile whenever she got a new boyfriend.
He loves her, but he cannot have her. And he's okay with that.
