DJ'S POV
" Our quarterly sales compared to last year were up by fourty five percent. I would also like to commend the whole team for a great effort on lowering down their food costs and labor costs. Good job guys! Let's just be more consistent and aim higher.. On our next meeting I want you to prepare your own marketing strategies on how you are going to increase the sales of your stores, starting from factors affecting sales and your action plans. Are there any more concerns so far?..... Alright since all topics were already tackled, thank you all for coming and meeting adjourn. "
This was my third conference meeting at DC Global. It has been three months since I started as a Junior Executive of our company. So far it was a great experience. Sales was doing good. I can also see that our people are happy with their job. That's actually my number one priority, to see that our people are happy with what they are doing so that they will be more motivated to go to work and be more efficient and be more productive.
Knock Knock
I was now alone seated on my office as I was about to call Kath when there was a knock on my door.
" Come in.. "
My assistant entered the room carrying the reports that needed my signature. She's not yet even near me but I can already smell her strong perfume. Her name is Abby. She has been on this company for three years now. Because of her hardwork she has been assigned to become my personal assistant. She's also bright and she has a cheery personality. Her look?.. Well she's a fine one I actually heard that there are few guys here in the office who wanted to date her.
Abby: Excuse me Sir.. Where do you want me to put this?
" Just put it there on the side table Abby...Thank You. "
As I resume typing on my laptop
" By the way Abby how's your mom? "
Abby: Oh.. She's fine now Sir. She just had an Asthma attack the other day. But nothing serious.
" That's good. Hope she gets better. "
Abby: Thank you Sir. Do you want some coffee Sir?
" Hmmm.. I already have my two cups of coffee this morning. Can you just get me an orange juice perhaps. Thank you. "
She left and close the door. I was about to run my hands on the paper that she brought when my sight landed on the picture frame that I placed on top of my side table. It's a picture of us when we were at the beach. Whenever I think about the memories that we shared on that day it always makes me smile. It was our happiest stage.
God I missed her. We were both quite busy now. She's still finishing her internship on a well known high class hotel. I wonder what she's doing. I'll probably give her a call.
After three ring she answered her phone.
Hi Babe...
" Hello Love... How are you? "
I'm good.. I am actually on my break. Chef Mark told me to go earlier
I heard that name again. From what I am observing, that guy has been giving her special treatment ever since she started working there. It's just that she's too naive to notice his intensions.
Babe?.. Are you still there?
" Yes I'm here.. "
How was your day? How did the meeting go?
"It was fine.. The operations were actually doing great. "
Abby entered the room carrying a tray with orange juice and a crackers.
Abby: Excuse me Sir, is there anything else that you need?..
" Just a sec Love.. "
" No Abby.. That's all for now. I'll just call you when I need something from you. Thank you again for the snack "
Abby: No problem Sir..
As she left and closed the door. I resume talking to Kath on the phone
" Love... "
I'll call you when I need something...
She just mimicked my voice..
" And what's with that attitude?.. "
You're so nice..
" Of course I am.. You know that. "
As in extra super nice..
" She's my assistant and she has been doing good on her job."
Yeah right ..
As I heard her muttered to herself.
" Wait .. Wait.. Am I right? My girlfriend sounds jealous?...
Huh! Me jealous?! Of course not! Dream on mister.. Tell me why should I be jealous of her? You're actually spending the whole day with her. You're with her wherever you go. She even call you when you're at home....
Oh yes .. She's right. She's not jealous.
" Love.. Why are we having this conversation? I don't want to talk about her. I called because I missed you. A lot. "
There was a long silence on the other end of the line. As I heard her sigh
Sorry.. It's just that I missed you too and you are stuck there with your assistant instead of me.
There was sudden voice who spoke on the same background with her.
Kath .. Ohhh.. Sorry I didn't know you're on the phone. Anyway, I just want to give you this sample cake that I baked. Perhaps you want to try it..
Thanks Chef Mark. I'm sure this tastes good.. Just leave it there.

" Tell me you didn't accept that cake?"
What?..
" Give him the cake back. Tell him you're full and that you can't eat too much sweets! "
What are you saying. This looks good.. You should actually taste some of his pastries, they were really good!
" The hell I care. You should stop accepting foods from him "
Babe.. It's just a cake and he wanted me to taste this so I could give him my feedback.
" That's not the point! That guy wants to be in your pants! "
Are we back to that again?! He was just trying to help.. You're being childish now.
" I am not! Swear to God he better has his intention clean or else.... "
Then come over here and see for yourself! I've been wanting the two of you meet and he wants to hang out, but you're always declining his invitation!
" It's because I am busy and I don't know if I can squeezed him in on my schedule "
You know what, I have to go. This conversation is getting out of hand. Call me if you've cooled down.
I pinched the bridge of my nose after she hang up on me.
" Stubborn woman! "
I didn't want our conversation to end that way. Ever since she started her internship on that hotel, she has been too busy. Yes I still get to see her but it's not the same as before that we can go out any time and any where. I admit even my schedule got to busy because of my work. Probably that's why I am getting frustrated because I missed her damn much!
I was interrupted by the ringing of my phone. Thinking that it was her again who called me back, I hurriedly answered without looking on who the caller was...
" You missed me that fast?.. "
I heard the caller laugh on the other line.
I guess?..
Wait.. This is not Kath's voice.. But her voice sounds familiar.
" Who is this? "
Now you hurt my poor heart.. How could you forget your beautiful geek?...
There's only one person whom I call by that name.. It made me smile
" How can I forget you.How are you? "
Now your memories are back. I've been good. Guess where I am?
" In your happy place?... "
Hmmmm.. Maybe... but you better hurry and pick me up.
" What do you mean?Where are you? "
As I stand abruptly from where I was sitting.
I am here at Ninoy Aquino International Airport! Come on hurry I want to see you!
I immidiately grabbed for my car key and headed out of my office
" Seriously?! Wait for me there. I'll pick you up. "
