~Marcel~
Nearly tripping down the steps, I took off toward my house. I was running blind as I had lost my glasses when I turned a corner. I wasn't about to stop to grab them and let Ember see me like this.
Tears down my face.
Yes, tears fell from my eyes as soon as I saw the two kiss.
My heart broke.
The boy that tormented me for years, and this girl. This girl who was my best friend, and whom I thought I really liked.
There was no reason to stay and let them see the tears fall from my eyes. Or have to explain to them how much my heart hurt.
I knew that Ember was following me. I could hear the tell-tale slaps of her flipflops on the floor behind me. Once I got outside I hid behind the dumpster and waited for her to pass. She stood outside on the stoop and looked around for me, even called out my name a few times.
Soon Jimmy appeared behind her and gave her a comforting pat on the shoulder. I didn't watch what happened next, but I did hear them get into his car and drive away.
Only then I knew it was safe to walk home.
I had told Mrs. Slovak to not pick me up because I was probably going to walk home with Ember, but I guess that was out of the question.
I walked home, wiping furiously at the tears that would form in my eyes everytime I thought about that kiss. It should have been me she was kissing. Her bestfriend. I could treat her like a princess that she is. Never would I hurt her. Ever.
Two blocks passed by and I arrived home. I swung open the front door and Mrs. Slovak turned around to smile at me. That smile quickly disappeared once she saw my tear streaked face and red rimmed eyes.
"Marcel?" She asked getting up from the couch and coming to shut the door. She put her arm around me and looked into my face.
I let loose. Tears freely flowing again.
"Okay, okay. Come here." Mrs. Slovak guided me towards the couch. She pointed the remote at the TV and it snapped off. "Tell me."
"Well, I-I was supposed to be with E-ember after s-school, but she was kissing her boyf-friend." I stuttered and buried my face in her arms.
"I knew that Ember was bad, Marcel." She rubbed my back.
For the first time, I didn't tell her she was wrong.
