"So, only seven days left? Huh?" Lucy pondered after Natsu just finished explaining everything to her. They sat in her apartment, just sitting on the couch while Happy was laying in Lucy's lap.
She was absentmindely petting the top of his head, thinking everything over. When the two first showed up at her doorstep, she was a bit skeptical at letting them in. Then they proceeded to tell her the story of the curse, which had made her more uneasy, but it slowly made sense.
And now Lucy was a bit anxious due to the fact that there was only seven days remaining, and she felt like they were no where near breaking it. Lucy let out a sigh, getting up after sliding Happy off her lap. Natsu and Happy looked up and watched her as she moved to put on her shoes and walk towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Natsu spoke.
"To the store. I'm in the mood for homemade sundaes. You can come if you want." she stated calmly.
Happy hopped up, wings appearing and flying towards Lucy. "Yay! Ice cream!"
"Guess I'll go too!" Natsu said. She smiled at them as they head out after locking up the apartment. They walked to the nearby grocery store, enjoying the warm weather after last week's storm.
When they got to the store, Lucy filled her basket with cherries, whipped cream, hot fudge, caramel sauce, sprinkles, and chocolate chips since Natsu insisted.
"Strawberry. Vanilla. Strawberry. Vanilla." Lucy mumbled, eyes flickering back and forth between the two flavors. "This is the most difficult decision I've ever had to make."
"Why not get that one?" Natsu asked. He pointed towards the neapolitan ice cream flavor. Lucy looked at it and shook her head.
"No. I don't want the chocolate, so that would be a waste."
"Then I'll eat the chocolate and you can have the strawberry and vanilla all to yourself."
Lucy stood straight, turned towards him, and put her small hands on his broad shoulders. "Where have you been all my life?"
Natsu gave her a confused look. "Uh..."
"She doesn't mean it literally, Natsu." Happy whispered to his buddy.
"I knew that!"
"Okay, let's the ice cream and go back to my place and make sundaes!" Cheered Lucy as she placed a tub of the ice cream in her basket. They paid for their things and walked back to the apartment.
Upon arriving, Happy decided to take his leave and head towards the guild. Although Lucy protested, insisting he had his sundae before leaving, the exceed denied. She pouted but shrugged it off as she began to set things out on her kitchen table.
"Natsu, grab the bowls." she instructed the dragon slayer. He gave her a swift nod before reaching into the cabinet and pulling out two bowls.
"Okay! It's sundae time!"
The two made their sundaes, piling each of their bowls high with both ice cream and toppings.
"I can't believe you ate a whole bag of chocolate chips!" Lucy said, while trying to tie her cherry stem into a knot.
"I got carried away." Natsu rolled his eyes. He was also in the middle of trying to tie the stem into a knot.
"Hey, Natsu."
"Hm?"
"I bet I can tie mine faster than you." Lucy snickered.
"Oh, you wanna bet?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Winner gets to draw a smiley face on the other's stomach with the left over caramel sauce."
Natsu thought it over, before letting a grin spread across his face. "Alright!"
"Ready, set, go!" Natsu and Lucy sat in the middle of her living room floor, facing each other with concentrated looks on their face.
They looked into each other's eyes in a competitive manner, yet Natsu found himself getting lost in her big brown ones. He actually lost focus as he saw how cute her face filled with determination looked. He didn't snap out of his trance until she pulled the stem out with a tight tied knot.
"I win!" she stuck ber tongue out at him.
"Man, my stomach is gonna get all sticky with the sauce." he whined.
"You mean your abs?"
"Checking me out now, are we?" he smirked.
Lucy blushed as she got up. "I didn't realize I said it out loud."
Natsu laughed. She grabbed the caramel sauce and the whipped cream before heading back over to him.
"Ready?"
"I guess." He let out sigh, shrugging out of his vest and folding his scarf. He leaned over to put the folded scarf on her couch.
"Okay, lay down."
"I can't believe you're making me do this. You better be a good artist."
"Hey! I am a great artist. I'll have you know that I recently took a face painting job and was fantastic at it." Lucy defended.
"Yeah, you used my face to paint on."
"I did?"
"Mhm." he nodded, closing his eyes.
"Oh. Interesting." she mused. Lucy opened the bottle caramel sauce. Leaning over a bit to begin her drawing. After five minutes later, a big smiley face of caramel lived on Natsu's torso.
"Aw, I did a great job." she giggled.
Natsu flick an eyelid open and looked down. "Good job." His eyes then moved over to the can of whipped cream that rested near his left hand. He smiled to himself as he grabbed a hold of it and silently pushed the cap off.
"Thank you. I told you I am an artist." Lucy smiled proudly, sitting back with her eyes closed. Natsu slowly sat up and playfully tackled her, pinning her surprised figure to the floor.
"Natsu! What are you doing?!" she squeled.
He chuckled before bringing the can up to her mouth and spraying the whipped cream. She quickly swallowed the contents before fighting with him over the can.
"That was a dirty trick!" she protested, after finally retrieving the can and getting out of his grasp. He laughed before running in to the kitchen and grabbing the bottle of hot fudge.
"This means war!"
"You're such a child!"
And so, the two had a massive food fight with the left over contents that were supposed to be used for their sundaes. Natsu still had the caramel smiley face on him, but Lucy had added whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and the colorful sprinkles lived in his hair.
Lucy was now covered with the remainding strawberry ice cream, chocolate fudge, smashed cherries, and also a few sprinkles in her hair.
They both looked messy, but the kitchen looked worse.
"You look ridiculous!" the two said while pointing at each other. Theh both fell into a fit of laughter. After calming down, they both looked back at each other.
"Hey Lucy." Natsu said, breaking the silence.
"Hmm?"
"You know what they say about people who can tie cherry stems with just their mouths right?" he questioned. She looked at him curiously.
"No. What?"
"They're great kissers." he smirked.
Lucy looked at him blankly, before smiling slyly. "Wanna try it out?"
"I would be honored." Natsu grinned and pulled her towards him. He planted his lips on hers, feeling her smile against his lips. He bit her bottom lip, making her gasp in response.
His tongue roamed the inside of her mouth, making her moan in pleasure.
"Aw man! I was hoping I could make it back in time for a sundae before there was nothing left." Happy complained from the window.
Lucy and Natsu pulled apart, both breathless. Happy looked over at them, smiling deviously.
"Oh, sorry for interrupting." he snickered.
"Um, it's okay." Lucy whispered, still breathless from the kiss.
"Nice matching smiley faces." Happy noted.
The two looked down to see the caramel smiley face living on the both of them. Lucy laughed slightly, before falling into a laughing fit. Natsu followed suit, admiring her as she laughed.
He still couldn't believe that he was lucky enough to love someone as amazing as her.
