(Circe's P.O.V)

For the next few days I am quite pleased to be able to say that my temper was one to rival Obsidians.
I stormed around the ship, snapping at anyone that got in my way and when I wasn't rampaging, I holed myself up in my room. I was doing a great job of acting as though everything was fine.

Not.

"Circe! Come on, let me in!" Lacy yelled for the second time that morning, her fists pounding on the door.

On the other-side of said door, I was lying on my back on my bed, staring up at the underside of Lacy's bed above me.

"Go away!" I yelled. "Go and keep Leo company." I regretted saying it as soon as the words came out of my mouth. It wasn't fair on her, I knew.

"I'm sick of Leo!" She yelled back. "I don't want him anymore!"

This answer almost caused my lips to twitch into a smile but I caught myself just in time.

Suddenly a much deeper male voice was speaking outside the door.

"Circe," Colby whined. "Come out and play with me."

His voice was so wheedling that I couldn't help but laugh. I practically heard him smile from the other side of the door.

"I'm sorry that I've been hogging Lacy!" Shouted another rather muffled male voice, that I recognized to be Leonardo and my heart melted. It wasn't his fault that he just so happened to be at the center of my anger today.

I sighed and fiddled with my fingers, unwilling to get up and open the door. No doubt I would be dragged out on to the main deck for more training in front of him and to be perfectly honest that idea wasn't the most appealing one.

I felt his gaze burning into me where-ever I went but I refused to acknowledge him and when I did have to talk to him I kept my answers short.
I knew that everyone was aware that we had had a fight of some sort, but they were all too scared to ask what it was about. Most had just presumed it was over what had happened in Obsidians quarters the day he had been possessed by his Father and I was fine with that.
It wasn't like I could tell anyone that I had kissed the Captain in more than just a friendly fashion and then he had decided that it would be okay to alter my memory, causing me to believe that it was his brother that I had kissed instead.

There was a loud scuffling noise from outside the door and I sat up quickly. What were they doing now?

"No YOU go away, let me deal with her, go and ... and-"

"Don't you tell me what to do Cobalt Bones!"

There was more of the scuffling noise and a few bangs and grunts and then Leonardo's raised voice rang out.

"Right that's enough, Lacy, we are going out onto the main deck. Circe will come out when she's ready. Come on."

"But-" Lacy started to protest but was abruptly cut off by Leo murmuring something that I couldn't quite hear, followed by a surprised "Oh!"

I glared at the door suspiciously as everything fell quiet.

A soft rap sounded on the door. "Circe, it's just me now." Cobalt said, his voice quiet, but firm, "Come on Sweetheart, let me in."

The corners of my eyes felt hot. Had he been in on the whole removing my memory thing as well? Had he seen it as a chance to get closer to me?

He couldn't have, my heart whispered. He was surprised when you kissed him, if he had known then he would have been a better actor.

Grudgingly, I got to my feet and padded over to the door, turning the lock and cracking the door open. Cobalts worried face peered through the gap and I couldn't help but think of Obsidian as I looked at his features, my face burning hot with shame.

Cobalt pushed the door open wider and entered the room, pulling me into his arms and giving me a strong hug. "What's with that expression hmm?"

I buried my face in his shirt, "I'm sorry," I said, my voice muffled by the fabric.

I felt him sigh, and then he pulled me with him, sitting us down on the bed and tucking me under his arm. "You have nothing to be sorry for," he said, squeezing my shoulder.

I leaned against him, soaking in his warmth as I stared down at my hands. If he knew the truth, would he still say that? I was so embarrassed, but he did deserve to know.
However, the aftermath of him finding out, I did not particularly want to witness. He would confront Obsidian. There was not doubt in my mind.

"You know you can tell me anything," Cobalt said seriously.

I turned to look at him and his silver eyes stared sincerely down at me. I offered him a small smile and wipe the corners of my eyes.
"I know," I replied thickly, "I know, it's just ...it's just hard."

He nodded slowly before tactfully changing the subject, "we are nearly there now you know, Hobbs said it would only be about three more days."

I looked at him in surprise. Only three more days till we arrived and I still didn't know where we were going. Had that much time really passed?

We had entered the lily sea two days back and there had been no problems so far as we glided through the magical flowers. Hobbs and I had had to dive into the ocean the night before we reached it to make sure that the ship would clear the reef that loomed below the sparkling waters. It had been tight but we had just managed to scrape over the top, the crew members who knew our secret had been rowing furiously on the oars and a great cheer had gone up as we swum to the surface to announce that we were over.

"Only three more days?" I whispered.

"Yes."

"And you still aren't going to tell me where we are going?"

Colby chuckled. "Nope." He sent me a grin, "But I promise you will love it Princess."

I wondered about that statement. Would it be true? Would I love where-ever it was we were going? How could he be so sure?

Cobalts pressed a rough kiss into my hair, "Come on now, enough moping in your room. If there is something that has happened, that you don't want to tell me, fine. But what are you going to do about it?"

His words sunk in slowly and I flushed again. He was right, what was I going to do about it?

My eyes landed on the piano that was gathering dust in the corner. With everything that had happened, I had completely forgotten about it but now was as good as time as any to ask and so I did.

"Colby?"

"Mmm?"

"Who put the piano in my room?"

He chuckled, "I was wondering when you were going to ask about that. Obsidian brought it for you."

My eyes widened in amazement. "Obsidian did?" I asked incredulously.

I felt Colby's head nod. "Yes, he had the men bring it on the ship and place it in your room. It was a right squeeze I tell you, we had to screw the legs off to fit it through the door."

"But why?"

"Well because he thought it might remind you of home and help you not to miss your family so much. I was quite surprised he thought of it to be honest." He said grudgingly.

I opened my mouth back no words came out. I didn't know what to say. I was still angry. And although this beautiful gift didn't excuse his actions, I felt myself giving in slightly.

"You know," Colby began, "as much as I dislike my brother, you shouldn't blame him for what happened in his room the other day. He doesn't have any control over it Circe, it happens randomly," Cobalt smiled gently, "He didn't mean to hurt you and although he doesn't show it, I know that he is upset that you are ignoring him."

The guilt intensified at his words. Did Obsidian think that I was ignoring him for the same reasons that everyone else did? When I thought about it, I realized that that could very well be true. My fists clenched. But I couldn't go back to pretending everything was normal! He had tried to steal my memories from me!

Cobalt felt my tension and began rubbing my arms again. "Obsidian isn't very nice at times Circe, but he rarely does things for no reason. There is always something behind his actions that is worth listening to."

I jumped slightly feeling as though he had just read my mind. Twisting my head around I looked up at studied his eyes. Could he know? Did he know?

His eyes gave nothing away as he squeezed my shoulder firmly. "Come on, come with me. It's time you stopped moping and started training again."

I huffed and turned away. "I don't want to." I said stubbornly. "It's stupid. The only thing I can do is hand wrestling, the swords are too heavy and I can't even throw a dagger straight!"

Cobalt laughed at my outburst, causing my scowl to deepen. "I didn't take you for a quitter." He teased, nudging me playfully.

"I'm not a quitter." I grumbled.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

"I'm not!" I protested. "I just ... don't want to do it anymore."

"Such a quitter." He scoffed.

"Say that one more time." I growled. "Go on, I dare you."

Cobalt's lips twitched and his eyes twinkled mischievously.

And then his mouth opened.

"QUITTER!" He roared as he leaped up, tossing me back onto the bed before sprinting from my room, cackling manically.

"Get back here!" I yelled, racing after him. "Face me like a man!"

"Q-u-i-t-t-e-r!" He sang, opening the door at the end of the hall and slamming it behind him.

Reaching the door handle I tugged at it but it wouldn't open and when I heard a gleeful laugh from the other-side of the door I knew he was holding it closed.

"Cobalt let me though!"

"Are you going to quit yet?" He teased, his tone playful.

Letting go of the door I folded my arms crossly. How I hated him at the moment. Stupid Pirates and their immatureness.

"Fine." I grumbled. "I get your point, no more quitting."

"Finally!" He cried, flinging the door open and tugging me into his arms. "Come on Princess, let's go train my way."

* * * *

"So I've noticed that you aren't exactly comfortable;e with a sword are you?"

"No Colby," I said sarcastically. "I'm completely fine with swinging around a large sharp object that has the capability to hack peoples heads off."

Colby frowned at me and managed to smirk at the same time. "Now, now, sarcasm will get you no-where, I was merely stating a fact."

I sighed. It wasn't his fault I was feeling rather nervous and a certain gaze that was burning holes in my back from up on the top deck wasn't helping either.

Cobalt appeared right in front of me, demanding my attention.

"Ignore him." He commanded softly and my eyes moved up to meet his piercing silver ones. "Keep your eyes on me. Do not look away."

I did as he asked, feeling slight tingles run through me at the sudden and surprising tension that was between as, brought on by the ferocity in his gaze. His hand reaches up to brush a strand on my hair behind my ear, his fingers lingering slightly longer than necessary. Slowly he took a step back, putting distance between us again and I let out a breath that I didn't realize I had been holding.

Cobalts mouth twitched up into a smirk although the serious expression in his eyes remained.

"Right, now Circe, I want you to tell me what you are the least experienced with at the moment. A sword," He flicked out his sword from his scabbard and held it up, "a dagger," A dagger suddenly appeared from no-where, gleaming in his right hand, "or a knife."

I raised my hand cheekily. "Question!"

He grinned and pointed his sword towards me. "Yes, the pretty lady at the front."

"What is the difference between a dagger and a knife?"

I heard a few rumbling chuckles in the air around me and when I looked around I noticed that as usual, my training sessions had attracted a few extra hands.

"Eyes on me Princess." Colby reprimanded and I snapped my gaze back to him. "In answer to your question, a dagger is a lot smaller and also requires different handling." He said, expertly twirling the small weapon around between his tanned fingers. He suddenly threw it in the air and bent quickly, drawing out a long silver knife from his boot, his sword still in his other hand. I gasped as the dagger began to descend but quick as a wink, the knife was in Cobalts mouth and the small dagger, was once again, twirling its way around his fingers.

He winked at me and I scowled, but couldn't help joining in the laughter that bounced around the deck at his actions.

"You are such a showoff." I teased and he grinned around the knife still clenched inbetween his teeth.

Lifting the dagger, he threw it with skillful precision, smack bang into the center of the mast, burying it all the way up to the hilt. The sword followed, embedding into the wood slightly lower down, the blade wobbling back and forth.

Taking the knife out of his mouth, Cobalt advanced towards me, one eyebrow quirked.

"So which one shall it be?"

I thought for a minute before pointing to the knife in his hand. "I haven't even thought about using one of those before, so I guess that would be the one that I have the least experience with, but if I can't even handle a dagger I can't see myself being any better with this."

He nodded and handed me the large knife. "We will worry about that later."

I took the weapon from him reluctantly, weighing it in my hand. It was rather heavy and about as long as my forearm. The blade was wide and polished, I could see myself staring back through it, my blue eyes were wide and my cheeks slightly flushed.

I shifted it to my other hand, feeling slightly uncomfortable. "Now what do I do?"

Cobalt studied me carefully. "You are going to carry it with you. Everywhere."

I raised my eyebrows. "Everywhere?" I asked slowly.

He nodded, still holding my gaze. "You will take it with you everywhere, everywhere you go on this ship, I expect to see you holding onto that knife. You will not put it down, you will even take it to bed with you. Your going to carry it with you until we reach our destination. And only then will I begin to teach you how to use it properly."

I gaped at him. "You want me to carry a knife around for three days?" I said incredulously. "What is this going to achieve exactly?"

Colby rocked back on his heels, his expression still serious. If it wasn't for that I would have told him to pull the other one.

"It will help you to become more comfortable with the weapon you are wielding. Your problem is that you are too nervous when you are training, because of the obvious danger factor. You need to relax around your weapons so you can become more vigilant with them and learn how to use them as an extension of your body."

I was quite impressed with this speech and decided to withdraw my decision that Cobalt had gone temporarily insane.

"So that's all I have to do? Just carry it around?" I asked, suddenly suspicious. Apart from the fact I was being forced to lug around a gigantic knife, the task seemed almost too easy.

"Well you aren't getting away with it that easy of course."

I groaned. "No of course not."

He grinned that devilish grin at me. "If it was up to you, you would just go back to your room and wait for the three days to be over, would you not?"

I tried to protest, but he was suddenly close to me again, one hand sneaking around my back, holding me steady.

"Would you not?" He repeated, staring at me in amusement.

Refusing to give him the satisfaction of an answer I merely crossed my arms over my chest, still awkwardly holding the knife and glared at him stubbornly.

He chuckled. "That's what I thought."

He turned and started for the mast, yanking out his sword and sliding it back in its scabbard. He then proceeded to pull out the dagger, twirling it around in his fingers as he looked back at me and winked.

"Let's play follow the leader."

* * * *

"I can't do it!"

"Well you are already more than halfway up the bloody thing, you can't very well back down now."

"Stop laughing at me!"

"Who said I was laughing?"

Glaring up at him I clearly caught the obvious amusement in his face before his expression straightened out and he had the gall to look sheepish.

Cobalts game of 'Follow the Leader' had very quickly turned into a game of 'Let's find as many different ways in which Circe could possibly kill herself whilst brandishing a large weapon'.

I had dutifully followed him all over the ship, almost dying a couple of times I might add, but this was the last straw. When he had lead me back out on the deck and proceeded to scale the large mast, all the way up to the crows nest, my first reaction was to think that he was joking.

Naturally, he wasn't.

And now, halfway up the giant mast and balancing on nothing but two and a half feet of rounded wood, I was seriously regretting ever getting out of bed this morning. And the stupid knife wasn't helping the matter, I felt so dangerous holding it, like I had to monitor my every movement.

"Come on Circe!" He called, yet again.

I tried to merge myself into the main mast as I looked down at the very solid looking wooden deck that would act as my landing pad if I, (God forbid), were to fall. There were no nets to catch me, nothing. This was insanity.

"I can't!" I wailed, tears pricking at the corner of my eyes. I wasn't ready for this, he was going too fast! And now I was going to die ...

"Circe, the whole point of this exercise is for you to figure out how to get yourself out of difficult situations, using the weapon provided."

I looked up at him imploringly. "I can't, please Colby, if you could just-"

He rolled his eyes. "Don't look at me like that, how do you ever expect to get any better if you don't push yourself?"

"But this is too hard!" I protested, hating how the smooth wood of the mast was making it hard to hold on, it didn't help that I was no-where close to being able to wrap my arms around it in the first place.

"No it's not," He scoffed, "if Lacy can do it, then so can you."

As if on cue, a small squeaky voice floated up from below. "Come on Circe! You can do it!"

I chanced a glance down and instantly felt dizzy but still managed to pick out Lacy's form standing directly below me. Oh God she looked so small from all the way up here. My eyes drifted around the deck and I noticed that my little audience was still present, Samson and Jacob even had a thick tarp spread out beside them and I snorted. Their lack of confidence in me was insulting, but then again, I wasn't feeling particularly confident at the moment so I decided to take it as a compliment that they wanted me to come out of the exercise alive. I deliberately avoided looking towards the ships wheel. He was still standing there, I just knew it, his suffocating gaze was overwhelming. In an effort to distract myself from my golden eyed thoughts, I tired to focus on what Lacy was screaming at me.

"He wants you to use the knife as a climbing tool!" She cried out and I looked up in time to catch Cobalts frown.

"She was supposed to figure that out on her own!" He yelled, sounding rather put out.

Climbing tool, climbing tool ... I looked upwards studying my options and feeling slightly stupid as it became clear as to what Cobalt had wanted me to do all along.

If I could stab my knife deep enough into the mast, I could use it to pull myself up to reach the rigging that lead to the crows nest.

Attempting to get the knife in deep enough however, proved to be more of a challenge than anticipated. It was hard, with the small amount of space I was allowed and also my lack of balance, to pull back my arm far enough and drive the blade into the wood with enough force to make it stick. I realized now, that a dagger would have been a more appropriate choice and I tucked the information away into my mind for next time.

Finally, I managed to dig the knife in, enough that I was satisfied that it wouldn't budge and I gripped the handle, preparing to heave myself up to the rope that was only inches out of my reach.

My first mistake was not testing my weight on the knife before I put the weight of my life on it.

My second mistake was actually believing that, for a second, someone like me, someone who hasn't gone through more than a week of pathetic 'Pirate training' could actually pull a move like this off.

Of course the knife wasn't in the mast properly. I am an amateur, what did you expect? It only held for two seconds before I was suddenly free falling through the air, my arms reaching back up towards Cobalt who had a look of absolute terror on his face as he reached back for me, his fingers grabbing thin air.

Well this would teach him.
