The Hospital

By LizzibeeSkoler

The hospital walls are closing in

I’m not used to the whirring, beeping din

My parents’ voices create a safe space

But I’d rather run, for this isn’t my place

My place is outdoors, with all-natural scents

Twixt flowers and birds, not in this putrid stench

No, these sterile white walls feast on my fear

Though I know thru windows, outdoors is most painfully near

But for my grandfather I must be brave

I cannot run screaming, no, I cannot cave

So I’ll stay here until my patients has run dry

Then outdoors I’ll go whimpering, and there I will fly

Free as a bird, singing a lark

I’d run ‘cross the hills until it got dark
