Nothing was there, but I heard a dog. It sounded agitated, and I found myself wondering if it was hearing the same things that I am.
I feel like I should search the house, but I'm not usually one for heroics. I think I'm partially inspired by a video game I played recently. The main character — she's years younger than me — and she would be able to handle it without batting an eyelid, so why can't I?
There's a big distinction, though, between fantasy and reality. And it's a line that shouldn't be crossed — unless you have a death wish.
If that's the case, then I've already signed my sentence.
