8:57 AM

"Wake up, buttercup." Justin mumbled into my cheek, kissing it softly a few times as I groaned.

"Why? Isn't it early?"

"No. It's like nine and I got bored."

"I snuck in here last night only to get woken up in the morning."

"Oh come on. I know you're dying to go outside to the beach and let me pull you into the water with me. All you talked about was having an excuse to see me shirtless."

"Are you kidding? You are right now." I laughed, peeking on eye open and looked over at his chest.

"And you're not. There's something wrong with that."

"No! Stop it!" I laughed as he tickled my sides, holding onto his while he shifted weight so I could breathe, my laughter filling the whole room.

It took me a minute to remember we were alone in the house.

"You're laugh is so cute." He cooed, kissing my cheek.

"Mine? Have you heard yours, it's like..." And I imitated it, seeing his cheeks flush. "See! You're cute!"

"Fine. I'm cute."

"It's such a miracle!" While giggling, I slid my arms around his neck, staring at his lips for a moment before I looked back at him. "Look at your hair."

"Sex hair."

"But it's not."

"It can be."

"Shut up." I took my turn to blush, trying to hide it, but he shook his head, preventing me from tucking mine into his neck and kissed me, making a smile curl on my face for a moment. "Did you already smoke this morning?"

"Maybe..."

"You're quitting."

"Bella-"

"It's bad for you, and I'd like to keep you around for a really long time. You'll get cancer."

"I tried to quit."

"For like a few days."

"How do you think I'm going to quit? Hmm?"

"If I had an idea, would you do it?"

"Depends..." He winked, letting himself hover over me. "What'd you have in mind?"

"You'll just have to see, won't you?"

"I guess I will."

"Where are they?" I ducked under his arm, standing myself up and rested my hands on my hips, raising an eyebrow as he watched me.

"Why?"

"Because I want to know. Where are they?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Fine." I walked over to his jacket, reaching in the pocket and pulled them out. "Say bye."

"Bella, Bella no-"

"Bye." I grinned, running out of the room and down the stairs where I heard him coming after me.

"Bella no! Those are mine!"

"You sound five."

"Give them back!"

"No." I said flatly, holding them to my chest while he tried to reach over and snatch them.

"This isn't funny."

"I'll give them back on one condition."

"What?"

"You have to give me one."

"Fuck no."

"And why not?"

"Because you don't need one and you're not getting one." He hooked on arm around my waist, pulling me back against him, but I held the box out, waving my arm around while he tried to catch it.

"I will get one if I have to. If you're going to smoke them then there has to be something good about them."

"No Bella. You're not-"

I managed to open the box, pulling one out for myself and then sat the box on the counter by us, managing to get out of his grip and ran back upstairs, finding his lighter and in the process burnt my thumb, but I lit the cigarette.

"Isabelle Rose Knowle! I said no!"

"Too late!" I smirked, taking it and went out on the balcony, sticking it between my lips.

"You're honestly pissing me off, give me that right now."

"No," I coughed, catching a wiff of smoke - remembering why it was such a turn off in the first place.

"See? You're not getting started on this stuff." He took it from me, snatching one of his shoes by the door and through it down, smashing it with the shoe.

"You don't need to stay on it. It's gross. Would you like to kiss me now?"

"No."

"Exactly. Before we go to the beach, we're going to the convenience store and you're quitting."

"Or what?"

"I won't kiss you anymore."

"That would leave us with a couple of very frustrating weeks, wouldn't it princess?" He smirked, tilting his head as he looked at me.

"For you. My needs haven't really kicked in." I shrugged, pushing past him and went to my bathroom, finding my toothpaste to cover up the smoke I had just inhaled.

"You and I both know that's bullshit." Justin appeared in the doorway, his hands tucked in his pockets.

"No it's not."

"We'll see about that." And then he walked away.

What the hell.

_______________

"What'd you get?" Justin asked, eyeing me as I walked out of the store from where he stood waiting.

"Here." I had already opened up the bag of DumDums, holding them out for him. "Pick one, and every time you want your cigarette, you'll have one of these instead."

"That's it? You're just going to give me a lollipop?"

"Maybe," I shrugged, watching him stick his hand in the bag and pull one out. "Should I slip a hand full in my bag? Hmmm?"

"If you want to." He mumbled, trying to hide his excitement as we walked back down the road and I held onto his free arm.

"I will." I giggled, kissing his cheek, grabbing a handful and slipped them in my bag, putting the candy inside the house while he waited for me on the path, taking my hand when I came back.

"Jackie was right, I'm drooling."

I rolled my eyes, smiling as he took a break from the lollipop and kissed my temple, walking out to a non-crowded beach, because it was all people's houses.

"This is nice. I'm not going to have to punch someone in the face for staring at you."

"Nope." Giggling, I shook my head, skipping out onto the sand and dropped my bag. "If it's cold I'm-"

"You're getting in. I'll drag you."

"Justin-"

"We both know I'll do it."

"Hold on. I have to take my shorts off. Chill." I smiled again, doing that little dance to get them off, then Justin snatched me up, holding my legs under my thighs and walked towards the water. "No! It's going to be cold!"

"Oh no it's not, and if anything you can cuddle up to me. I'm not letting you lay out in the sun the whole time and leave me alone."

"I wouldn't do that! I wasn't going to!"

"Sure princess, sure."

"I wasn't!"

"You're really funny." He grinned, kissing my forehead. "Want to go to the boardwalk for lunch?"

"Sure. I love it there. They have a Ferris wheel and stuff, if we want to go one night."

"Yeah, that sounds fun. We can go maybe tomorrow for a date."

"Really?"

"Of course. It's summer, and I want to take my baby out a few times while we're here."

"Aw, I think I should be allowed to take you out. I know the town."

"So? I like taking you out."

"You're so sweet." I cooed, holding onto his face, the tips of my toes in the water.

"Can I put you down? My shoulders starting to hurt."

"Of course. Don't hurt yourself." I let him sit my down, waist in the water with his hands catching my hips, holding me against him.

"I like you in blue."

"That's because it's a bathing suit."

"But not just any bathing suit. A bikini."

"Shut up." I rolled my eyes, ruffling his hair and stood up on my tiptoes.

"I don't have to. I've seen everything."

"Stop it!" I whined, letting go of him and crossed my arms over my chest.

"You stop, there is no need for that. I like it. I like it a lot."

"M-hm." I nodded once, laughing as he wrapped my arms back around his neck by my wrists, planting kisses from my cheek down to my neck.

"I love everything about you."

"Is that so?"

I only felt him nod, his hands giving me a gentle hug.

"I would like to remind you we aren't behind closed doors and my mother has neighbors." I mumbled, pulling myself back a little.

"Screw them."

"It's also illegal and I'm not going to jail for that when you can just learn patience."

"I don't want to be patient."

"Sorry baby." I grinned, pecking his lips, turning to look out at the water.

"I love you." He smiled back, pecking my cheek and made me step farther with him out into the ocean.

"I love you too."

"Ready?"

"Ready for what?" I raised my eyebrow, but he picked me up again, this time by my thighs, wrapping them around his torso and threw us into the wave ahead, my arms tightening around his neck so I could press my face into it, hearing his laughter as we came up for air. "I hate you!"

"No you don't, you just you loved me. I know you love me." He was laughing at me, repeatedly kissing my cheek.

"Not right now."

"Hey! Yes you do, be nice. We're having fun."

"You made me wet."

"I don't understand why you girls love the beach so much but don't like the water."

"Instinct." I mumbled, fixing his hair.

"You're like a cat."

"How is that?"

"You're feisty and don't like water."

"I'm feisty?"

"Mhm. Like when you raise your eyebrow like that and put your hands on your hips with your head tilted to the side. Yup, you're like a cat."

"I never realized how observant you are."

"You can call me Sherlock."

"No." I giggled, shaking my head and kissed him with a smirk on my face.

"Anything?" I asked into the phone, pacing with a towel wrapped around my waist, my voice lowered to keep Bella from hearing me where she was a few feet away in the shower.

"No. I'm looking though. We haven't heard anything else, and nothing else is weird around here besides the usual. Don't worry yet."

"Of course I'm fucking worrying. I don't need her to find out that he's still on the move. Not now while she's so happy and thinks she's safe. I told you I'm not breaking that promise."

"I told you I'd take care of it. We're all watching here. If anything we point them towards California. He's going to figure out that you're both gone at some point. We'll send him there."

"I don't know what to do. I can't -"

"Man, enjoy your vacation. Take her out, go to the beach, have sex or whatever you guys are doing, but stop worrying. That's only going to make you miserable and you're supposed to be having fun."

"I am having fun."

"Not enough fun. Where is she anyway?"

"Shower."

"See! That's fun! Go! I'll call you later!" And with that the line went dead.

I ran my hands through my hair, letting my phone fall onto the bed beside us and lifted up my head as the door opened from the bathroom.

"I forgot my clothes." She blushed, her towel wrapped around her with damp hair a little ways below her shoulders.

"Forgot them, hmm?"

"Shut up."

"No, come back." I tugged her back by her waist, brushing my lips against her ear. "Do you still want to go out for lunch?"

"If you want."

"I asked if you wanted to."

"Justin-"

"Bella, I mean it! Stop! Do you still want to go?"

"Yeah, I want to go."

"Then - you know I should say get dressed, but I don't want you to."

"You're not even dressed. What were you doing?"

"I was on the phone with Hunter." I shrugged, kissing her cheek again.

"Again?"

"Mhm. He's my buddy."

"I know...just - you're sure nothing's going on?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Alright."

"You got a little tan." I grinned again, still holding her back on me with my hands on her hips, trailing my lips down from her cheek.

"So did you. Your hair is going to practically blonde by the end of the summer."

"Basically." I nodded, pecking her shoulder, looking up to see her eyes closed.

"We should get dressed. I won't be long." She pulled away, squeezing my hands and ducked out of the room, leaving me standing there with my eyebrows frowed and my mouth hung open.

What the hell?

"You're sure you're ok?" Justin asked from beside me, lifting up a French fry, grazing my arm with the back of his hand.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired I guess." I shrugged, meeting his eyes for a moment before I took a sip of my drink, staring back out into the ocean ahead.

"Okay..."

I had been pretty quiet, but I was just thinking, trying to decide if I had done the right thing after all. Maybe asking him to come with me was selfish - but he was supposed to come with me anyway.

I just felt weird, now that I could be added to the list of girls. I don't want to be another girl, and in a way I'm not.

But the fact that I wasn't his first time bothered me - a lot. That I didn't know how many girls it had been. He was basically my first everything in that sense, but that wasn't the case for him.

I know I was different, but I still felt weird; like I was just another girl.

I didn't regret it, I...I didn't really know what I thought.

Yes, it was one of the best nights of my life, but I did it because I loved him, and I know he loved me - but he's a guy. I knew how their minds worked.

"Smile princess." He whispered, pecking my temple, sliding his hand around my waist and tugged me closer.

I did, mainly from the kiss, nibbling on the inside of my lip and picked up a fry, doing anything to distract him from asking me what was wrong - again.

I didn't want to talk about it here, or now - at all even.

Then he'd probably get mad at me eventually.

"Now keep it." He didn't let go of me, his food gone with mine close, but a little way through I started thinking again after I had stopped. "Do you have anymore lollipops?"

"Yeah," I nodded, opening up my bag and handed him one. "I'm surprised you asked for one."

"Well if you don't want me to smoke anymore that badly I'll try it. It's working so far."

"Good." I smiled at him for real this time, holding onto his cheek farthest from me and kissed him. "You'll taste sweeter."

"Hmmm, I guess so."

"You're getting stubbly. I kind of like it, it'll just start to tickle a bit."

"You like it? I don't know if I could stand not having a clean shave for too long. I was supposed to yesterday, but we were on a train."

"Whoops." I laughed, pecking his cheek.

"You done? We can walk some more."

"Yeah, I'm done." I nodded, picking up my basket and his, walking over to the trash can and emptied them out, then sat them on the shelf, finding him behind me with our drinks in his hands and handed me mine, taking my hand from my side.

"You look so pretty."

"Thank you." I smiled at him, resting my head on his shoulder for a minute, my eyes flickering up to the stick of the lollipop that hung from his mouth.

"You're welcome princess."

"How's your lollipop?"

"Appley."

"Sounds tasty."

He winked, making me blush and quickly looked away, biting down on my lip as we walked the boardwalk, feeling a slight breeze make its way through my tank top.

I didn't know what else to say then, so I found myself thinking - again.

How many girls had it been? How many other girls had felt his lips like that, felt the same thing I did - I mean yes it was different, but at then again it isn't.

I was so inexperienced, and then he wasn't. I felt like an idiot. I want to know - but then again, did I?

Clearly earlier he was implying it, asking if I was still hungry, holding me like that. I knew.

That's when he started asking what was wrong.

"I have to make sure it's ok with your mom I take you out tomorrow."

"I'm sure she'll be fine with it."

"Alright," He threw away his drink, pulling me off to the side by an empty bench with one of those looks in his face. "Stop telling me nothing is wrong when something is."

"Justin-"

"Bella, I'm not stupid what is it."

"Nothing." I mumbled, pulling away my hand to fiddle with my fingers, turning to look up the boardwalk.

"Stop it." He grasped my face, forcing me to look at him. "You know you can tell me anything Bella."

"Not here. Later, ok?"

"Later? Not when you're acting weird like that."

"Its nothing."

"Bella, you're honestly starting to piss me off. What is it?"

"Just drop it then." I snapped back, standing up and went over to the trashcan, throwing away my drink and crossed my arms over my chest, raising my eyebrows to see him still sitting on the bench with his arm draped across it.

"Sit down."

"No. I don't want to talk about it right now."

"Then when are we going to talk about it?" He threw up his hand, letting it fall back on his lap.

"I don't know."

"Stop being so effing stubborn and come talk to me."

"For the last time, not here."

"Why not?!" He grunted, clearly irritated - but I wasn't talking about this here where people could here. I didn't really want to talk about it at all."

"Because I'm not talking about it in public."

"Then let's go on the beach and talk."

"Alright." I sighed, giving up as he stuck the lollipop back in his mouth, slipping his hand back in mine and tightly held onto it like I was going to run away, leading me off the board walk and onto the sand. It was still crowded, especially at the boardwalk, and at my house it was just me and Justin - plus a few neighbors, but they weren't tourists that came out everyday.

So he led my under the pier away from everyone, plopping down in the sand and pulled me down in front of him, wiggling it in the sand so it stood up on its own, then held onto both of my hands, moving the padding of his thumb along my skin.

"Now tell me what's wrong, please. Is it because we left? Do you want to go home?"

"No, that's not it." I shook my head, nibbling on the corner of my lip. I knew I'd probably just have to blurt it out. "How many girls have you slept with?"

"That's what this is about?"

"It's important."

"Why?"

"What do you mean why? I'm your girlfriend, and I deserve to know. That's why."

"I've told you before I don't really know." He shrugged, looking down at the ground. "More than I wish, and by that I mean every single one of them but you."

I looked down, ducking my head so my hair fell in to the sides of my face, hiding the reaction I had.

"Bella, come on, talk to me. What's really wrong? As much as I wish I could, I can't read your mind."

"But I know I'm being stupid and irrational. I - I don't really know how to explain it."

"Then try your best, I'm listening."

"Okay...I'm just psyching myself out I guess. I don't want to be another girl Justin, and I know this is different, but still. I've just been thinking about it. I know it was different, but I just keep thinking about it. It bothers me that I wasn't your first time too, and I know it shouldn't, but I do. You were my first a lot of things, and yet there are other girls out there that can say the same thing I can."

"It bothers me too," He admitted, giving my hands a gentle squeeze. "But you know, in a way it was my first time. It used to be no strings attatched, but with you it was completely different. Now I get to show you I love you the right way, and I've never done that. Before it was just sex, and now I'm making love with you. Nobody else can say that."

"Yeah, that's true."

"And nobody else can say that they love me like you do, and have run away with me, have slept in my bed, have gotten me to go to a dance without alcohol, or even been out on a romantic date with me. So no matter what you think, you're my first for a lot of things too, and I want you to be my last."

"You forgot cute. You said the word cute a few weeks ago too."

"Oh knock it off." He laughed, scooting closer and wrapped my arms around him, making me laugh as he kissed my lips a few times. "Just talk to me next time."

"I will. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you."

"It's ok. Don't worry about it."

I kissed him again, holding onto his face in my palms, fighting the urge to bit his lip and tug at his hair, but we were in public. I had to keep it PG. Unless...

"Do you want to go home?" I pulled back, raising my eyebrow while biting at my lip again, watching a grin curl up on his lips.

"Why?"

"Yes or no."

"Yes."

"Ok, let's go."

2:36 PM

"When is your mom going to be home?" Lifting my arms behind my head, I looked at Bella who laid beside me, her head rested at the top of my chest.

"I don't know. I think about two hours. Why?"

"What do you m ean why?" I chuckled, letting one hand fall on her arm and moved it back and forth, kissing the top of her head. "We need to get dressed."

"Not yet."

"I knew you liked it."

"Shut up!" She smacked my chest, blushing quickly into my neck.

"You're so cute. I don't even care if I'm saying cute. You are." I laughed, now hugging her to me, planting kisses all over her face.

"You're cute. Even with your badass tattoos. What would you do if I got one?"

"You getting a tattoo?" I scoffed, looking up at the ceiling as I ran my hand down to her waist. "It would depend where and what - but I don't think you could handle it."

"I've probably been through worse."

I pursed my lips, keeping my eyes locked on the ceiling.

I wanted to kill that son of a bitch so bad. I wanted to know where he was, leave her here so I know she'd be safe, and just take care of the problem. He wasn't getting away with it - but I couldn't just throw myself back into that mess. I was just getting out, Bella was going to start school soon, her dad hated me - Once we went back to reality, we'd have a lot of figuring out to do, but I didn't mind staying here for a couple of weeks to escape it. She deserved it. She deserved to feel safe and normal, to stay away from all that shit happening back in D.C. and just enjoy growing up. I wanted to spend every second I had with her this summer. Who knows what this upcoming school year would bring.

She was going to New York City for crying out loud. There are eight million people there, and I'm sure there are some great looking guys in the mix. One that would find Bella just as beautiful as I do, and I saw how they all looked at her, but when she was there, most of the time I'd be here. I wouldn't be able to stop anything - and if somebody could give Bella a normal realationship...

No. What the hell am I saying. She's mine and if I heard of anybody trying to get with her I'd drive up there an d hunt them down to give them a little message so they knew she wasn't available.

My Bella.

"Hello? Jusitn?" She asked, waving her hand in front of my face.

"Huh?"

"I said I'd get a music note, right here." Bella showed me her wrist, pointing to the middle of it, causing a smile to form along my lips.

"That wouldn't be so bad."

"Maybe I'll get it for my birthday. That wouldn't be so bad. I could sign for myself."

"Yeah, you could." I laughed at her, pulling back her hair and kissed her shoulder right where the cut was almost healed, trailing up to her neck. "We really need to get dressed."

"But I don't want to. I'm so comfortable. Just a few more minutes."

"You know what we're going to have to do if we lay here for a few more minutes?"

"What?" She asked, biting down on her lip again like she had done earlier today, tracing patterns on my chest with her finger.

"Kiss a lot more than we are now." With a final chuckle, I pulled her as close as I could, sliding my hand to her neck as our lips met, rolling back on top of her.

She was my Bella.
