Chapter 38
Aiden’s POV
I wanted to tell Ana how I felt about her but knew that it was way too soon and not under the right circumstances, it was taking everything I had not to blurt it out though. When I left the hospital so that Ana could get some rest I went back to my hotel room seeing that it was already really late and I decided to go to bed. I cursed myself when I remembered that I had forgotten to show Ana all the pictures I had taken at the job site and had to make a mental note to show her tomorrow. I lay in bed watching TV till I was finally able to shut my brain off long enough to go to sleep. Sleeping a dreamless sleep I woke up refreshed and ready to start my day. I took a shower and got dressed and ready to make my way to the police station to let them know what I had remembered and discovered. Once I got there thankfully I remembered the name of the officer I had talked to and he was already at the front desk when I arrived. We went to the interrogation room again and I gave him all the new information I had including her name, where she worked, her description and where I thought she lived. The officer was more polite this time and was very grateful for the information I had given him, he told me they would bring her in for questioning and they would let me know when they found out anything else. I felt lighter leaving the police station feeling like we had really accomplished something this time; I certainly didn’t want to leave any leaf unturned if there was someone out there that wanted to hurt Ana.
I went by a local coffee shop on my way to the hospital and got me a coffee and Ana a hot chocolate since she doesn’t like coffee and picked up a muffin and a bagel not sure which one she would want. I was bouncing with energy this morning so excited to see her that I felt myself almost sprinting into the hospital, I had to concentrate really hard to make myself walk to her room instead of running but I just couldn’t help myself, I missed her. I quickly made my way into Ana’s room to find her sitting up in bed dressed and looking like the angel she was. I made my way to her handed her cup of hot chocolate and the bag with the treats in it and kissed her on the cheek. “Good morning beautiful how are you feeling this morning?” I asked her with a bright smile on my face, so happy to see her. “I’m great, I get to get out of here today, how are you this morning?” “I’m wonderful, I slept great, got up and took care of some business, picked us up breakfast and came to see you, couldn’t get much better.” She smiled that big beautiful smile at me, “would it be better if I asked you if you to get me out of here and take me wherever you want?” She was laughing when she finished and I couldn’t help but join in. “I would love nothing more than to whisk you away, have the doctors released you yet?” “Yep the doctor just left right before you came in and said I was good to go, I am waiting on them to bring the papers in for me to sign and then I’m free, and I don’t even have to do the physical therapy I just have to be checked out by a doctor in two weeks but I am on restricted activity.” “That’s great where would you like me to take you, back to your hotel?” She sat there looking deep in thought while I was also trying to think of where we could go I knew we could go to my parents’ house or my hotel but I wasn’t sure what she wanted.
Ana’s mother came in while we were waiting on the paperwork for her release and trying to decide where she wanted to go. “Ana in order for me to leave there is something that I would like to request. I have talked to Aiden’s dad and he has agreed to let you and Liam stay at his house which is close to the job site, I would like you there that way I know that you are being taken care of and fed. Please agree to this because if not I’m not leaving.” You could tell that Ana was not happy with her mother’s ultimatum but she also knew that she would need someone to help take care of her for a while longer. We all sat in silence for a while I suppose everyone just thinking about everything and Ana trying to figure out how to handle her mother. “Mother I understand your concern and normally I would argue with you about this that I am a grown woman but I have to agree that I do need some help in some areas so I will give in on this one under one condition.” “What’s that?” “You have to go home and make sure everything is in order, keep all the bills and employees paid, making sure James hasn’t killed anyone, only come back when I call you to and when you do bring your boyfriend.” Ana finished with a smile obviously not mad at her mother for making her stay at mom and dads. Mrs. McGill burst out laughing and walked over to Ana and gave her a big hug and kiss. She told us she would book her flight and help her get her settled into my parents before she went home but that she would make sure she did everything that she asked of her. I didn’t think Liam would mind staying at my parents and helping Ana and of course I would be there and do anything that she needs as well.
It was a few hours later before all the papers were signed and Ana was ready to go. She was so excited she was almost bouncing in her wheel chair when we stepped foot outside the doors of the hospital, you could tell she didn’t like being cooped up that long. We decided that Ana would ride with me in my truck since it would be easier for her to get in and out of with her crutches but I wasn’t planning on letting her use those any more than necessary, I was going to carry her. I knew she was going to pitch a fit but when we parked at mom and dads I wasn’t going to give her a choice in the matter I was just going swoop her up in my arms where she belongs. Ana was so happy on the ride there she could barely contain herself, I had given her my phone and told her to look at the pictures of the house I had taken for her and she was beaming with pride over every one of them. “Do you think your brother and his wife are going to like what I have designed for them?” “I know that they are going to love the house, I love the house, mom and dad love the house, everyone loves it, how can they not.” She was pointing out things that she wanted to have gone back over, making comments about things she loved, things she wasn’t sure about and things she would like to change all together. I told her that once we get to her temporary home she can sit on the couch, rest, go through the pictures again and make any notes that she can think of. Liam was going to be there when we got there with all of Ana’s things from her hotel and he was going to help her get settled in.
I had gotten a call from the police department when we were getting Ana settled in the truck to leave and had let it go to voicemail so I knew once I got to mom and dads that I would need to check that message and probably call them back. I was hoping that they had found Katelyn and had brought her in for questioning or something because I swear if that woman does anything else to harm Ana I didn’t know what would keep me from killing her myself. It took us a while to get to my parents since the hospital wasn’t in the same town as their house and glancing over I had noticed that Ana had fallen asleep and was softly snoring propped up against the window. I made sure that my turns were smooth and I went slowly over any bumps but when we got to my parents road and driveway there wasn’t much I could do about a bumpy ride and she slowly woke up. “Ana sweetie we are almost there, Liam is waiting on us to help you get settled, would you like to go the living room and rest on the couch or go to your bedroom and take a nap first?” I wanted to make sure what she wanted to do when we got there because I knew my mother would bombard her and I didn’t want her to get lost in the chaos. “I could probably use a nap, even though I haven’t really done anything I have been so excited about leaving this morning that I have used what little energy I had in me.” She gave me a sheepish look and I smiled at her and let her know it would be fine whatever she wanted to do. I pulled the car to a stop right in front of the door, told her not to move while I came around to her side of the truck. Opening her door instead of letting her step out I stepped in towards her and scooped her up in my arms, obviously with her objecting the entire time, and carried her into the house. As I suspected both my mother and Liam were waiting on us at the door and I had to quickly let them both know that Ana wanted a nap before she was covered with attention. I bypassed both of them and made my way to what would now be Ana’s room, which I made sure was right next to mine, pushed the door open and headed for the large king sized canopy bed. I gently placed her in the middle, pulled the covers up to her chin tucking her in and sat down on the side of the bed. “Ana honey dad has had an intercom put in your room so when you wake up if no one is in here you just press this button and let someone know you need help, do not under any circumstances try to get up on your own ok.” “OK thank you Aiden, you have done so much for me and I don’t know how to repay you.” I leaned down closer to her, smiled my cocky smile and whispered in her ear “I have some ideas.” I pulled away from her ear and pressed my lips gently to hers and got up and left her to her nap.
