I never thought my writing could create such a strong opinion on someone. When I was about 9 I loved writing...
Now, 6 years later, I have my work published and receiving feedback like this is indescribable. So I wanted you to read it too...

Oh my GOODNESS!?! Where do I even get started on this book! There is so much I want to say, so little time to say it and I know for sure my fingers won't have the ability to hold on for that many words! 😋
Popular Nerd was not one of my very first choice of books if I was to be honest. Although my eye had been entranced by its captivating cover, I never actually got the courage to move my finger so I could click the small screen to open it up. (P.S. Everything I do here on Wattpad is from my phone on the app so don't get confused by my weird choice of words)
As the few days passed by, I kept on seeing that a couple of people I follow -for example spixeEisha (hope she doesn't mind me mentioning her)- kept on commenting and voting for this book that had been getting my eye. Finally, after actually getting the courage to open it up, I quickly read the little summary or description (whatever you want to call it) and I remember telling myself, "Huh... Okay. Gonna put it in my library and read it once the baby is sleeping."
Mind you, I babysit my 3 month old niece every morning so that's when I do all my reading and writing. So not even a day later, -I wasn't as busy a month ago as I am now- when February 8th finally came, and when the little girl was finally asleep on my arms, I got comfortable in the couch with a pillow on my back, and I began to read it.
I was instantly hooked by the first paragraph: "Do you think the school nerd would do my homework for me if I ask him out?" My best friend asks from across the lunch table. I laughed out loud, which caused the baby girl in my arms to get scared, which then made me drop my phone so I could get her happy again. STRIKE ONE FOR ME.
When there was peace again, I managed to read about half of the chapters that were posted, before the baby woke again because of my movement, as I tried to hold my crying bladder because I didn't want to stop reading. STRIKE TWO.
I wasn't really a very good person on commenting back then. You see, I had only been on the Wattpad group for about three months, only doing silent reading. No votes, no comments. I don't remember exactly which book/books were the one that broke my "comment/vote" virginity, but I do know Popular Nerd was one of my firsts.
After again feeding, changing, burping, rocking and getting myself something to eat, I got very comfortable with a sheet, snuggled with a pillow and continued with my adventure. I was getting to a good part an hour later when the front door slammed open, startling me which caused me to close out the app. 😑 STRIKE THREE AND IM OUT!
Frustrated, I took the baby to the second floor with me, snuggled up in my bed and finally after a very needed 2 hours, I managed to catch up. I was very proud of myself for finally accomplishing it, but mad that it took me so long. Mad that I had so many distractions, I would have finished the book in a matter of 2 hours instead of the 8 that it took me. Mad that I hadn't picked it up before that day so I could be part of the group that said "Hey! I am reading this amazing book called 'Popular Nerd' and I can't believe this is happening!" And then talk about all the ups and downs of the book.........
Speaking of ups and downs, let's actually talk about the book. Okay so first of all, if this ever gets posted up so anyone can see it, I have to say this first:......... SPOILER ALERT!! DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU WANT THIS BOOK TO BE RUINED!?! CONTINUE ON YOUR OWN RISK OR UNTIL YOU SEE ***********!!!! Alright, now that that is over with, let's continue.
Paige:
She reminds me of me -like every other main female character in any novel 😉. From what Random_Teenager has published so far, I can tell that Paige is a very loving person, and would do anything for the people she loves/likes even if it involves her happiness.
From the beginning, she was set against in calling Nathan -another character I'll get to on later- a nerd. She saw him all by himself and actually wanted to talk to him, even though they were practically on the opposite side of the popular charts. Based on what we read on the description, -and what went on later of course- we know that she meets him and then he turns into a popular person, hence for the title "Popular Nerd." Throughout her friendship with Nathan, she endures a terrible relationship with Josh -another character I'll describe later- while slowly having feelings for Nathan. She manages to break up with him, only to go back once Josh threatens to take Nathan's popularity. Of course, Paige being the nice person she is, she doesn't want Nathan to lose his popularity -because being popular brought out the real him which only she sees- so she forced herself to continue on with that unwanted relationship. When all hell breaks loose and Nathan is forced to leave, she takes a drastic decision, breaks up with Josh -and this time, I hope it actually stays like that lol- and tries to go for the boy she truly likes. But it's too late.... Well at least that's what it looks like since it's not finished yet.... Which I must say BOOOOOO!!!! 😋
Nathan:
Sweet, normal guy who pretended to be a nerd in the presence of his school mates, but magically transforms into a Greek God outside in the world. With the help of Paige, he gets almost everything he wanted and then turns the tables on her. Yeah there were some moments throughout the book where I just wanted to grab a knife and stab this boy. But the real, cute moments he had with Paige made it worth it. Well almost..... All the way up until he decides to leave. All I have for that is one word:
WHY!!!!? Why did you have to leave!?!! Paige was only doing that to protect you!!! But noooo. You just had to run, right??? Ugh I hope you grow some balls and actually show the true feelings I know you have to that poor girl. She is actually acting like a man while you go and hide from your feelings like a girl.... Wow..... 😔 *shakes head*
Okay that wasn't just one word. I sorta just let my fingers go with the flow and I typed that. But I hope you get the point 😁
Josh:
Well he can rot in the deepest parts of hell for all I care. I have never in my entire life hated a character that was not real. I know MANY readers out there will agree with me 100 percent when I say all of this: Josh. You can just disappear with your negativity and jealousy attitude and leave Paige and Nathan alone. No one wants you!!!? *insert middle finger here*

There are many other characters included in Popular Nerd, but they are not as important as these three. Trust me when I say if I start to list off all the characters and what I think of them, we will be here all day or night. 😆
Popular Nerd is left with a cliffhanger on all of its chapters. I HATE cliffhangers, but the funny thing is that I LOVE doing them to my readers lol Call me weird, but I understand why everyone does that. Makes your readers stand on their tiptoes as they frustratingly yank out their hair while they wait for the next update.... ☺️ You can tell I love a book when I am online and the second the author/writer posts up a new Chapter I'm there, clicking the little star and reading my eyes out. I'm not saying that I do that to all of my favorite stories, but I do tend to try and finish them before I start a new one. It starts to get very confusing if you have twenty unfinished stories in your library and you're reading them all at the same time. (Ugh I can already feel the migraine of just thinking about my library.... )
So to all of you authors out there that I said I would read your story, don't worry because I will. Just give me time, and patience because as you can tell, I don't have a lot of time in my hands.
So far, Popular Nerd has been the book that has made me interact with Wattpad more. I had never before -in my entire life I should add as well- done any sort of contest or any such thing. When Random_Teenager made hers, I was like, "Heck, why not? Just get it over with already." So I entered. I ended up writing, editing, (sort of lol) and sending it all in the same day that I decided to do it. (Checking back, it was February 9) It's not that I didn't try, it's just that I focused on that 1000 or so word long chapter more than I have ever focused on in my life. Long story short, I ended up getting third place on my first contest! I was so happy that day, if I remember correctly my family thought I was weird and not myself.... 😜 But I didn't give two darns. I was proud of myself and I couldn't have done any better for my first contest!
If I only had 10 words to say something about Popular Nerd it would be this:
Go read this book. It will be worth your TIME!!?!
Victoria, you're an amazing writer and don't you dare stop writing. You have discovered a talent that many people have yet to discover, and use it to your advantage! So far, Popular Nerd has been great and I don't regret ever picking it up. Thank you for taking your time into writing it, and I will be sad when the time comes for you to end it. (Which I hope isn't soon!!) Thank you for everything, and I can't wait to read your future writings!!
