Movie Summary:
Mike has always been the smallest in his school. In the beginning he is seen as a tiny green monster with braces that no one likes, he goes on a school trip to Monsters Inc. There he meets a scarer that tells him of the university he went to, and how it has the best scarer program. That monster gives Mike his MU baseball hat. Mike puts it on and sneaks into a humans bedroom to see how the monster scares. In that moment Mike realizes he wants to be a scarer. Mike goes through school, being the best in his studies to make it into Monsters University. Mike gets in and into the scaring program. His roommate is Randall.
They go to their first class, and the other classmates laugh at how theses two little monsters got into this program. Mike is ready for class with his books, but then James. P. Sullivan arrives late with nothing. Everyone is impressed though because his dad was a legendary scarerer. During that class they meet the head of the program a grouchy monster who is obsessed with her can of scream. She tells them there will be an upcoming exam that will either allow them to pursue the program or be kicked out.
The following night there is party and Randy is going in hopes to make friends and join a group. Mike encourages him to ditch his nerdy glasses which makes him squint to see. While Mike studies for the exam Sulley comes running into his room from the window with a pig. The pig is a school mascot for a rival University. Mike and Sulley chase the pig and Mike ends up catching the pig. Sulley however is praised for the capture of the pig and one of the biggest scaring groups invites him to join in.
It isn’t until the exams that Sulley’s group takes back his jacket. They tell them he can join in if he beats Mike in the exam.
Come exams Mike and Sulley start fighting and hit the heads record scream can. She comes obviously furious but holds it back, she tells them their exams are right now, Mike answers correctly but is not scarey enough. Sulley then answers wrongly but is scarey. The two are kicked out of the scaring program. Furious at each other they blame each other for their mistakes.
One day Mike goes to the sign up for the scaring games but is unable to find a group to join, he then joins the O.K group, a group of misfits. They however are down a member so Mike asks Randy, but he has already joined the popular group that Sulley was kicked out of because of his powers to turn invisible. Just then when Mike’s team seems hopeless Sulley decides to join the group.
Mike and Sulley move into their new dorms for O.K, it happens to be one of the members, Squishy’s mom’s house. The other members are happy to have them. Art, a hippie styled monster, Terry, and Terri a two headed monster, and an older sales man (who’s name I can’t remember.) Sulley and Mike are forced to share a tiny room, and have many fights and problems.
The first game arrives and they are to run a course but not get hit by swelling round puff balls. Mike and Sulley go crazy to try to beat each other. They manage to get out of the maze but with large parts of them swollen from the balls. However since they didn’t help their other team mates out they end up loosing. Thankfully one other group had protective cream on and were eliminated. Team O.K wins by default!
By the next competition Mike trains the group, Mike and Sulley try to deal with each other. The next game they are to get a flag high up in the school library, if they get caught the crazy librarian will kick them out and they will loose the game.
The group walks tip toeing to the flag, but Sulley finds it is taking too long. He runs to the flag and the other team members help distract the librarian but not getting caught. The team gets the flag and wins!
Later on Mike and Sulley begin to work as a team. For the next challenge they have to scare cardboard children, but not teenagers and adults, the team wins again!
By the second last challenge Mike and Sulley are getting along great, also with O.K they have begun a great friendship. The challenge is to hide from a security guy. O.K wins!
On the last challenge they are to be in a real scare simulator, they are up against the popular team with Randy. As they all scare the simulator, both teams are tied and it is down to the rivals leader and Mike to break the tie. Mike scares the dummy and gets maxes his score. Team O.K wins!!!! Now the whole team is allowed to get into the scare program.
Unfortunately when everyone leaves Mike realizes his setting on the dummy had been on the easiest compared to everyone else. Sulley admits that he changed it so they could win. Feeling betrayed Mike goes off to a classroom where they make doors to scare kids in the human world.
Meanwhile Sulley goes to the head and admits to cheating. Before she can decide on a punishment someone notifies her Mike has gone through a door. They call those yellow guys to stop things (the snail receptionist from Monsters Inc is there to, number one) Sulley manages to run through the door before they disconnect it. He finds Mike upset since he couldn’t scare the girl in the cabin. However they are freaked out since there are tons of kids and cops are coming to investigate the ‘little green guy’ the kids saw. The two are out of the cabin but need to get back. Escaping the police they head back to the cabin and decide they need to get screams to open the door. Sulley is scared to scare the adults but Mike reassures him.
With Mike’s brains and Sulley’s scariness, the two get the cops to scream so much that back in the monster world the cans are all filled up in the room, and brake with so much screams. Mike and Sulley burst through the door, but are expelled for their actions.
The next day the two are leaving the University. Before leaving the Head tells them she believes in the two of them, and that together they can do great.
They two then get a job in the mail room at Monsters Inc. There we see the abominable snow guy from the first part. He says messing with the mail will result in banishment. (Makes sense)
At the end we see a collection of photos in Mike’s locker at Monsters Inc, with his can of wet dog body odour. Besides pictures of his girlfriend, we see how they got where they are in the first movie. Being promoted from mail room, to janitors, to lunch ladies, to finally scaring auditions.
At the absolute ending Mike crosses into the scare room with Sulley. Beginning their scaring lives together. THE END!!!!!!!!!
My Review:
This was the best movie I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love Monsters Inc so when I heard of this movie I knew I had to see it. I went to the theatre to watch this movie, and I was so glad I did, I would so go watch it again. (I was the only teenager in the theatre) I even bought a Mike and Sulley doll, as well as Monsters University cookies, a book mark and stickers. Lol. This movie rocked!! I loved seeing my fave characters come back to life on the big screen. I couldn’t stop smiling while watching this movie.
I was also so in love with all the new characters it was very easy to fall in love with Art and Squishy. I also really loved how they had characters from Monsters Inc in the movie like Randy, the abominable snow guy, the snail lady, and some others that were scarerers in the first part. I don’t know, but something about seeing these characters again was so amazing! I loved this movie so much!!
What I also liked about this movie was how Mike and Sulley started off as enemies and became such good friends like in Monsters Inc. I was also in love with little Mike when he went to go visit Monsters Inc when he had his braces. He was so cute!! I love it, but still Sulley is my all time fave!
I would recommend this movie to everyone!! Especially if you liked Monsters Inc. I love both movies and this movie made me super happy, not at all a disappointment.
