~~Chapter 18~~

Zach walked me downstairs to the ballroom. As we entered, he even made me take his arm. I was nervous touching him. He was nice and warm. The Sheila situation made me nervous, though. He led me to a table to sit at, but not before Sheila saw us with anger in her eyes.

"Zach, get your hands off of her now!" she yelled.

Zach just rolled his eyes.  "Enough, Sheila, you're so annoying." he said. Sheila huffed, then grabbed a glass of punch from a table. She shoved it at me, but Zach quickly hit it midair and sent it flying onto Sheila's pink dress. There were loud gasps, and then She began to cry, running out of the room. Serves her right. Zach and I stared at each other wide eyed for a moment, then started giggling.

"That was amazing." I said, catching my breath.

He laughed, then put his arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I stopped laughing immediately and my heart started racing. Slowly I lifted my arms and hugged him back.

"Have I told you that you look beautiful yet?" I blushed. A lot. And of course he had to notice. "You're so cute when you blush," he said.

I pulled away from him and covered my face with my hands. I was blushing even more now. I made my way over to a table and sat down, still covering my face. He chuckled and sat down next to me. He tried to pull my fingers off my face. Finally I gave up and turned away from him so he couldn't see my face.

"Is that blush for me?" he asked, mocking me. That was embarrassing. I didn't answer. We sat in silence for awhile, then suddenly he grabbed my hand. "Let's dance," he said, pulling me up.

"Oh no, no, no. That's not going to happen" I said, trying to pull away. Unfortunately he was just too strong for me.

"Well it's happening," he said, smirking. As he dragged me to the dance floor, I began to get shaky and nervous. I think Zach can sense this though, because he told me to relax. He put my hands on his shoulders, then put his on my hips.

"Now what?" I asked, nervous and confused at the same time.  He moved closer to me, then leaned in to whisper in my ear.

"I'll show you. But first I need you to calm down. I can feel your heart beating and your hands are shaking so bad that they're practically giving me a shoulder massage."

I shook my head. "you don't understand Zach. I can't just calm down."

"Look, Destiny. I'm not going to hurt you. I promise you that. If I were going to kill you I would do it in a place where no one was around" he joked. He slid one hand up my back and rubbed it up and down a little, trying to comfort me.  "Okay, now follow my lead." he told me as he started moving. It wasn't that bad, he just moved in a small circle. I couldn't bring myself to look him in the eyes, though. I seemed to have become extremely fascinated by his shoulder.

"I'm sorry Zach. You're probably super embarrassed right now." I said.

"Of course not!" he said. "I'd rather be with you than any other of the girls here." he added. My eyes began to water. "Whats wrong?" he asked, alarmed.

I shook my head.  "Nothing," I managed to say. "It's just that that was the sweetest thing that anyone has ever said to me." I told him, putting my face into his shoulder.

He leaned in really close and stoked my cheek with his hand. Then he leaned down and kissed it softly. I blushed as my heart fluttered even faster. "You're just too adorable." he said, chuckling.

I pulled away from him and covered my face again. My face was probably as red as a tomato. "Cut it out," I told him from under my hands.

"What?" he asked, trying to pull my fingers away from my face again. I didn't answer, I just walked back to the table we were sitting at earlier. After I sat down, Zack sat down next to me. We sat in silence for a while, but then I heard Zach laugh softly next to me.

"What?" I asked him.  He turned to me and pointed over to the other side of the room. Sheila was with another guy, and it looked like she was flirting up a storm.

"Wow, she got over her dress pretty easily." I said.

He nodded, chuckling.  "Erm, I'm sorry that I've been hanging around Sheila a lot lately," Zach said. "I know that you hate her and that she can do some pretty nasty things. I guess I was just kind of blinded by her looks." he said.

I shook my head at him. "Don't be sorry. You can talk to whoever you'd like, and you don't have to feel guilty at all. I'm not gonna control what you do." I told him, and he smiled at me. We talked for a few more minutes, then the boy who was talking to Sheila came up to us with drinks in his hands.

"Hey guys, want something to drink?" he asked us. Zach looked at me and then turned back to him.

"Sure, thanks." he said. The boy put a drink in front of me, then Zach.

"Enjoy," he said, winking at me and walking away. I turned to Zach, who was glaring at the guy as he walked away. His eyes flickered down to my drink for a second, then returned to glaring at him again.  Oh well, I thought as I picked up my glass. Quickly Zach snatched it out of my hands.

"Don't drink that," he told me. I gave him a confused look. Zach placed the cups on the other side of the table, out of reach. Then he stood up and walked over to the beverages station. "Two waters please." he told the man. He nodded and gave him two glasses of water. "Thanks," Zach said. He came back over to me and set a glass in front of me. I stared at him, confused. "Just trust me." he said, sipping his water. I nodded and did the same.

"Zach!"  Both of our head snapped in the direction of the voice. Sheila was running towards him in a brand new dress. Ugh. He looked up at her, surprised. "I put on a new dress, Zacky! Isn't it pretty? I know you didn't mean to spill that drink on me earlier, but it's a good thing I have another dress!" she squealed. He just gulped and nodded. "Anyways, let's dance," she said, pulling his hands.

"Sheila I don't think th--"

"It's just one dance, Zachy," she pouted with her lip.

"I'll be right back," he whispered to me. Then he got up and walked away with Sheila. I sipped my drink again and put it down.

"Hey," I heard a familiar voice say. I looked to my left to see the guy who gave us our drinks sitting by me.

"Hi," I told him. He smiled.

"I've been waiting all night for him to leave so I could be alone with you." he told me. I frowned, getting uncomfortable. "No need to be embarrassed, babe. I just like talking to the hot ladies." I blushed, and quickly took a sip of my drink. I turned away from him and saw Zach dancing with Sheila. He was stealing glances at me and this guy. I heard something fall on the ground and looked down. It was a pen. "Mind getting that for me?" the guy asked with a smile.

Slowly I bent down under the table and picked it up. "Thanks," he smiled. "My name's Sean. Yours?"

"Destiny," I said quietly. He chuckled and moved closer to me.

"Nice to meet you babe," he said, snaking his arm around my waist. My breath hitched for a second.

"Stop." I tried to say, but it came out quiet and shy because I was scared.

"Hmm?" He said into my ear.

"She said to stop."

I looked in front of me to see Zach striding towards us, Sheila chasing behind him. Sean pulled away from me and looked over at him. Zach pulled him out of his seat by his shirt and shoved him. I jumped a little at his violence and took another drink of water. Ew. This water was gross. Zach shoved him again, and Sean put his hands up in surrender.

"Whatever" he said, walking away. I looked over to Zach, who was looking angry.

"What's wrong, Zach?" I asked him. His head snapped in my direction and he looked more relaxed.

"Are you okay?" he asked, not bothering to answer my own question. I slowly nodded.

"I'm going to the restroom, Zach" Sheila said and walked away. He didn't even look at her.

"He didn't hurt you did he?" he asked me. I shook my head. Wait, ouch. That made me dizzy. He sat down next to me with a worried expression on his face.  "You look pale." he stated. Suddenly I felt sick to my stomach and became dizzy. I got out of my seat and ran as fast as I could out of the room. I ran to the nearest restroom and walked in. Quickly I turned the faucets and splashed water on my face. It didn't help, and The room was getting darker.

"Hey Destiny," an annoying voice rang out. Sheila walked closer to me and took my head in her hands. Then with a ton of force she threw my head as hard as she could into the wall behind me, causing me to black out completely.
