"ANTHEA PARTHENOPE PARRIS!" My mother cried. Ugh. What did I do now?
My name is pronounced An•thea Par•then•ope Paris. People call me Anne for short. We are French and that's all my mother will speak to me. Anthea means flowery. It's ironic, no ones ever considered me bright and beautiful. Parthenope is the name of the Siren who commited suicide because she failed to lure Odysseus to his death. And we all know Paris, the Trojan prince who started the Trojan War for some stupid crush.
Anyways, I hobbled down the stairs. And looked for my mother.
"Yes, Mère?" I ask.
"Je vous ai dit d'aller à après l'école de oncle parce que je l'ai invités à venir sur! (I told you to go to your uncle's after school because I have guests coming over!)" She exclaimed. My mum always hated it when I was home for a meeting. I'm not sure if it was because I was embarrassing or what, but I honestly didn't care.
"Mère, I always go to his house." I answer. "Just this once, can I stay?" I was 17 now, I think I could handle it.
"Vous n'êtes pas assez vieux. Ce sera trop pour vous." She answered. I rolled my eyes. People talking about sales will kill me. Hilarious.
"Fine, whatever." I walk out and walk a few streets to my uncle's. I don't knock, I just walk in. "Hello?" I ask.
"In here!" My uncle calls from his office. "Your mum having another meeting?" I nod. "She had one a week ago!"
"I know! She keeps saying I'm too young to stay home." I answer, throwing my hands in the air.
"Yeah, well... Don't tell your mom this, but I have a meeting with some guy tonight. He's coming by in-" My uncle gets interrupted by a knock at the door. "That's him." I sit in the chair next his when the guy comes in.
