Your P.O.V
You met up with Crime Sorciere this morning to report nothing out of the ordinary. It seems that whatever was related to Zeref in the past games hasn't resurfaced... yet.
You're now walking to the arena with Evergreen while Bickslow and Freed take up the rear.
"This is exciting. I hope they all made it," Evergreen says.
"They've worked too hard to lose before it even starts," you reply.
You lead them into the arena and through the stands to the Fairy Tail balcony. You say your hello's and greet each of them before the first day officially starts.
"I need to get to work, so I'll see you guys around," you say, waltzing away from the balcony and disappearing in to the crowd of fans. You're stopped a few times for autographs as you look for a better seat that overlooks the arena.
"In eighth place, Team Fairy Tail A!" Mato announces and you smile as they walk out. The crowd boos and you resist glaring at everyone as you stand guard at one of the stadiums' entrances.
Mato continues announcing the guilds in order from Quatro Cerberus, Mermaid Heel, Blue Pegasus, and Lamia Scale, then...
"Team Raven Tail!"
Your eyes widen and your breath hitches in your throat. You run over to the edge of the railing and look down at the field where, surely enough, Raven Tail enters on to the field.
No. How the hell could this happen?!
You look around and see none other than Ivan Dreyar sitting like a stone statute in the stands. You immediately take off toward Fairy Tail's balcony to see Makarov seething with anger.
"(Y/N), did you know about this?!" he demands angrily.
"No! I was going to ask you the same question," you rush leaning over the rock railing next to him.
The commentators announce that Raven Tail has been admitted as a legal guild and the grip you have on the railing begins to crack the rock.
"(Y/N), let go! You're going to break it!" Evergreen scolds, prying your hands away.
You close your eyes as your breathing becomes erratic with rage. You worked so hard to put that scumbag away, and here he in walking back in to your life with his new team. The Thunder God Tribe circle you as dark magic radiates from your body and you can't stop it.
"(Y/N), please come down," Evergreen whispers. "Think about Laxus." The sound of his name causes your muscles to instantly relax and your fists to unclench. Laxus. "Look, here he comes."
You slowly open your eyes and turn around to the stadium. Team Fairy Tail B is entering the arena and you ignore the shocked expressions of Fairy Tail as you gaze down at Laxus, your attention solely focused on him and only him.
The other Fairy Tail team immediately approaches them and they get in to a scuffle of who's going to win. Laxus snaps his eyes straight to yours and he instantly knows something is wrong, and by the sight of Raven Tail, it doesn't take a genius to guess.
He sends you a small nod that says he'll talk to you when he gets a chance and you nod back. It seems that the other team has taken notice of Mystogan (or Jellal) and Laxus quickly covers for him.
The teams soon go to their personal balconies and you lean over the edge of Fairy Tail's until the first event starts called Hidden where participants will be sent to different locations in town filled with clones of their competitors.
Your eyes flick up to Laxus and his are already on you. He subtly tips his head behind him and you nod at the message. You excuse yourself from the guild and make your way out of the stadium and into the hallways of the arena. You've been all around the building to know where to go.
It takes you a few minutes before turning the corner to Team Fairy Tail B's balcony where Laxus is leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. When he notices you, he pushes off the concrete and meets your stride until you're standing in front of each other.
"Your dad's guild is here," you state the obvious, reigning in your feelings.
"Don't call him that," Laxus all but growls. "He's not my dad and he never was."
You soften your gaze. "I know. I just can't believe he's here."
"Do you think he could be involved with Zeref?" Laxus asks as if his father were just some random stranger.
"Maybe. What would you do if he was?" you ask slowly.
Laxus shrugs, but you can see the pain in his eyes. "Leave him to you, I guess." He sighs at the possibility of someone related to him being involved with a person that has caused such devistation in your life.
You watch as regret and sorrow clouds Laxus's vision, and without thinking, you stand on your toes to wrap your arms around his neck and bury your face in the crook of his neck. Laxus doesn't hesitate to loop his arms around your waist and put his face in your hair. A huge wave of comfort and caring pass between the two of you that makes you nearly melt in his arms.
"You're nothing like him and you never will be," you say soothingly, knowing exactly where his thoughts are.
"I almost was. When he got kicked out of Fairy Tail, I almost went with him. I almost threw everything away to become who he wanted me to," Laxus whispers.
"Almost, as in you didn't. That's all in the past. The person you are now is all that matters."
Laxus sighs and nods against you and you realize you're in too deep now. You've fallen too hard for this person. You would do anything for this man. Your feelings keep getting stronger and you can't do anything about it. Every moment you spend together, you keep sinking deeper and deeper in the depths of love.
You slowly pull a part just in time because Gajeel comes out into the hallway. "The first event is over. Juvia came in seventh and the battles are starting," he informs, completely oblivious to the situation.
Laxus nods at him and turns back to you. "Come watch with us. The view is much better up here."
"Okay," you accept and you walk over to the curtain and on to the balcony.
"(Y/N), what are you doing out here?" Jellal asks.
"Just watching from a different angle, Mystogan," you say, walking over to the edge of the railing.
Flare Corona is currently battling Lucy Heartfilia and your eyes are trained on Raven Tail. "Are you keeping an eye out?" you ask Laxus who's standing next to you.
"Yup."
Lucy seems to be getting beat to a pulp until she summons Gemini to duplicate herself. All the guys are drooling over her body, but you focus on Raven Tail's movement although a small voice is telling you to look at Laxus.
Suddenly, Lucy tries a huge spell and executes it perfectly, but it misses. You notice a tiny movement from Obra and brush it off as nothing because that's what it seemed like.
Flare takes the win and the next battle is Ren Akatsuki versus Arana Webb where Ren takes the win. Then it's Warcry versus Orga Nanagear and you groan.
"That's not even fair," you mutter.
"Why?" Mira asks innocently and you send her a 'duh' look.
"Just wait."
You focus back on the battle as black lightning swirls around Orga and he obliterates Warcry with a single move.
"Lightning," Laxus whispers.
"Lightning," you confirm. "A Lightning God Slayer. Powerful, but you're stronger." You look up and Laxus smirks at your compliment.
You roll your eyes as the last battle is announced. "Mystogan versus Jura Neekis!"
Your eyes nearly bulge out of their sockets and you frantically look at Jellal. You rush over and put your mouth to his ear.
"Be careful. You won't beat him if you lose focus or let up on your powers. You can do this."
Jellal nods nervously and hurries to the field. You turn back to the Fairy Tail team and shake your head.
"He can't do this."
"He better win or I'll pound him into the ground," Gajeel says.
A few minutes later, the former Wizard Saint and current Wizard Saint enter the battlefield. They greet each other and the contest begins. Jellal uses the staves for a while against Jura until Jura gets the upper hand. Jellal switches to his Heavenly Body Magic and you nearly bang your head against the rail.
No, Jellal, that won't tip anyone off.
For some reason, Jellal begins to scream and laugh. It takes you a moment to realize Meredy is probably the cause to keep Jellal's secret. Because of this, Jura ends up taking the victory. You sigh in relief while the Fairy Tail team are furious.
"I knew we shouldn't have let him on our team," Gajeel sneers and turns his attention toward you. "What the hell is wrong with him? Did you tell him to throw the battle for your mission?"
You go to defend yourself, but Laxus steps in and glares down at Gajeel. "Back up, ironhead. She wouldn't do that."
Gajeel scoffs and walks away from the group. You lean back against the railing and cross your arms.
This is going to be harder than I thought.
