Yelling fills the room,
she's been protesting it for hours,
but he is as stubborn as an ox,
and vicious too,
finally he grows tired of the screaming,
the opposition,
and now he reaches out his large rough hand,
he strikes her,
and blood gushes from her lip,
she stumbles back having not expected the blow,
her hand rushes to her mouth,
he is outraged,
her father agreed to let him have her as a bride,
though now she is with child and they have not yet been married or laid together,
"you have no say in this you harlot, and i will have you as my bride as promised" he sneers,
unwillingly she dresses and goes with the man she barely knows,
he takes her to a doctor,
her eyes widen at the calmness in the room as he explains to her,
explains that since she has sinned,
the baby does not deserve to be born,
and so,
since a woman can't make her own choice,
her precious baby is taken from her,
along with the possibility of losing any chance of her creating new life in the future,
they wed a few months later,
once the pain of the loss and surgery have subsided,
and on that night,
he claims her as his own,
for the rest of her life she is his,
though not by any choice of her own,
she had found her one true love,
yet her father did not agree,
so this is the man he chose,
a man who treats her terribly,
a man she would never choose for herself,
she purposesly acts badly as a wife,
she doesn't want to please him,
she despises him,
she longs to be with her lover,
but he hasn't been seen in town since their wedding,
she fears she may never see him again,
until one day,
she's walking in the woods alone and hears a noise,
she turns around and there he is,
a smile spreads across her face,
as well as a look of disbelievment,
he walks over to her and touches her face gently,
as lovers do,
and kisses her in the summer sun,
they sit by the flowing river and wind blows through her hair,
soon the light is dissapearing and her husband yells for her,
she turns white at the sound of his voice,
the anger in it,
she knows what will happen if she returns,
and so he takes her by the hand,
and though he isn't wealthy,
as the man her father had chosen for her is,
they're truely in love,
and he cares for her,
treats her wonderfully,
and they run away,
away from that town,
that wretched place full of dismall and gruesome memories,
and start a new life over the vast ocean,
in a land called America.
