Chapter 10BA:
Fall of Viktor
Warthan Goblin Camp
Wartha City
Arlon
Night Time
I am driven furious by this senseless war. For sure my lambkin is slain by these goblins, and there is no way I can claim back her life. Insanity slowly infests my calm mind, gradually transforming me into an unstoppable monster.
My helpless emotion conjured a raging thunderstorm all over Ethaendra, covering the full moon with murky clouds.
"Grant me my final wish," I prayed to the Lightning Rod. "Help me feed my revenge."
"Destined one," it replied. "You are breaking the first decree, yet I sense the agony within thee. Be it what you want, for revenge is the only method to sate thy hunger for justice. Go forth, and avenge that lass you have always loved."
I lurked in the camp for a while, waiting for a victim to interrogate. I paralyzed a lone goblin and questioned him.
"Where does your leader reside?" I angrily asked, then punched the poor goblin in the face.
"Won't tell ye!" replied the goblin. "Yer kingdom ain't match fo---"
I slammed the rod into his face, and it began sparking. I aimed it close to his head.
"Location of Viktor," I threatened. "NOW, before I am forced to take it out of your squishy brain."
"O'right me lad!" cried the goblin. "V-viktor..... H-he...."
I struck a lightning bolt that nearly hit his head, scorching the ground.
"Talk straight," I demanded.
"AYE," cried the goblin in despair. "Our lord Viktor is currently restin' at they Sov'reign Tower! Tis all I know! PLEASE."
"Worthless life," I said.
I forcefully smashed my scepter into his face, deforming his looks, leaving the goblin to suffer until he gradually bleeds out.
I spawned a storm cloud, and set my way to Anthrax, the capital of the Goblin Kingdom.
Viktor, your agony awaits.
The Goblin Kingdom
Dusk
This is a populated and authoritative nation, claiming their technology supreme among the whole world. Every work of architecture or engineering is far better than any civilization can produce.
The goblins possess physical attributes similar to humans. The only differences are their looks and diets. Goblins usually have pointy noses and ears, along with unusually green skin tone, and commonly have a diet of bugs and strange plants, but can eat human food too.
I believe they are naturally selfish, and have hostility towards any other race. They are pleased with what riches and capabilities they have, until Viktor hungered for Ethaendran magic.
The kingdom is adjacent to other empires like the orcs and elves, and together settle on the inhuman continent of Mystika.
Sovereign Tower
Anthrax City
Arlon
Dusk
Anthrax City is a coastal city, and also the capital of the Goblin Kingdom. This is the place where most of the technological warships are produced.
I disembarked at the foot of the tower, sealed with a metallic gate, protected by two goblin guards. I cloaked myself to conceal my identity.
I calmly confronted the two guards, aiming their rifles as I began to approach them.
"Halt," warned the goblin. "Proceed no further, human."
I decided to ignore the warning, and started charging my scepter. I cast a chain lightning sooner, electrocuting both guards and forcing the electrically sealed gate to open, triggering an alarm.
I savagely ascended the tower, bulwarked by an impenetrable static barrier, one-handedly electrocuting multiple guards with fatal lightning bolts.
Hordes of goblins charged at me, having ignorance upon who they are facing. These worthless scums only die, for they are no match against a mortal demigod who manipulates the electrical elements.
I arrived at the peak of the tower, exposing one final room and a balcony. The door seems locked, and I struck a powerful thunderbolt at it, knocking it out of the way. Two goblins stare at me, Viktor Anthrax and Du'Matt the Arch Tinker.
Viktor appears very feeble and old, considering his legs are not present, and he sits on a hovering chair, connected to multiple tubes. His mouth is covered with a mask, attached to a life support tank. His throat has a chip slit right in the middle, forcing him to speak in a robotic voice, output through two small speakers in each side of the chair. His chair is armed with laser beams.
"Bashing in?" taunted Du'Matt, heavily armed with a large rifle.
"Get out of my way," I said. "I am here for your overlord."
"Fool," communicated Viktor. "You do think being a descendant grants you a chance against the goblins?"
"I am oath sworn to protect our sovereign," stated Du'Matt. "Pardon, thou shalt leave my sights."
Du'Matt charges his rifle and projects a deadly beam, penetrating my swiftly cast barrier and knocking me so far away until I hung on to the rails of the balcony, preventing what could have been a fall to my death. Viktor is enjoying the show, not even attacking, assuming I would die from the hands of his archtinker.
I climbed up before I can be hit once again, allowing me to dodge another beam.
"Goblin scums," I taunted.
I followed up with a lightning bolt at the chandelier, causing it to crash at Du'Matt, disarming him off of his laser rifle. I sparked my scepter and aimed it close to his face before he was able to pick up the rifle.
"Like I demanded," I said. "Get out of my way or face your death."
Du'Matt shook in fear as he stared at the luminous sparks of my scepter.
"Never," he replied.
I send out two threads of electricity, lifting him up, while constantly bringing voltage to his body. I slammed him into a wall, fracturing his bones and enfeebling him.
"P-please... Urgh..." he begged.
"Need mercy?" I mocked. "Tell me, where is Abigail?"
"That young lass..." he said faintly. "She's held... captive."
"WHERE?" I asked, as thunder roared and I slammed my scepter close to his head. "I DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE ANSWER."
"Ha... Ha," he chuckles, followed by his final smile. "In hell."
This infuriated me. I called upon a lethal thunderbolt and struck him, exterminating the poor goblin . The voltage was so powerful it left the deceased corpse twitching.
I turned around to see Viktor's anxious face. He shoots a laser beam and misses me and begins hovering away, yet for a slow speed. I strike a weak lightning bolt to fry the circuits of his tech chair, forcing him to crash down.
"zzWhy..." he said with a stuttering voice. "Just zzkill me!"
"I am going to," I replied. "Yet not instantly, your "majesty." I will let you taste the suffering my people have, yet in another way. I shall slowly take your breath, while you desperately beg for your life as excruciating agony goes through you."
I don't think he was able to clearly state his reaction, for random electronic buzzes only came out of the speakers.
I lift him, along with his chair, dragging him to the balcony to be exposed in the raging storm. Static began sparking from the electronic parts of his chair. Thunder was roaring, as the rain falls down heavily upon us. Insanity starts to take over my mind.
"Is zz this what you are zz?" asked Viktor. "zz A brutal per-zz-son?"
"Oh ho ho," I mocked. "Look who's talking, aye?"
I pulled out a dagger and sliced off a random tube, meddling with his stable nutrient flow.
"You shall suffer more than I have," I threatened. "You shall grieve similar to all these innocent lives. You shall be tormented until your death. Death is the most beautiful part of a person's life.... Heh...heh... And I shall make yours agonizingly perfect."
"zzJust..zz" begged Viktor. "zzzzzStop!"
I cut off a wire, taking away his ability communicate.
"HAVE ZZZZZ MERCY ZZ!" begged Viktor in a more intense jitter. "I CAN ZZZZZZZ RES-ZZZZZ-TORE WHAT HAS BEENzz.... ZZZZZZZZZZZ"
The downfall, along with the cut off wire made the speakers combust into electricity, staggering his body with the voltage.
"Don't die yet," I mocked. "I am not through with you."
I noticed a strange, deadly looking bug crawling on the corner of the balcony. I picked it up and stared at Viktor with a mocking smile.
"You goblins use to eat this," I said. "Let's turn the tide of the food chain!"
I stabbed his chest to slit open a hole, and inserted the bug inside. He cannot do anything but to struggle jerky movements.
I watched his tormented face shed tears, excruciating restless pain as the bug ate his insides. His life is close to death, and I decided to make the move that will finish him off.
I carried his chair and hung him on the iron rail of the balcony.
"Witness your kingdom," I said. "Witness it one last time. Witness its final beauty, before I send you to the inferno you belong."
He shakes his head sideways. I am about to cut off his life support, until a lethal sniper shot him right in the head, instantly ending his suffering. I turn around to see Abigail, aiming through what seems like an augmented sniper rifle.
"Enough of that Arlon," demanded Abigail. "You've tortured him much more than what he deserves."
I suddenly changed my mood upon seeing her beauty once more. I dashed towards and embraced her. The Lightning Rod cooperated with my emotion, disrupting the thunderstorm, revealing the beautiful sunshine.
"But..." I asked. "How?"
"I was never held captive," she said. "I am in complete safety all this time. I shall explain why I am here in the first place.
During the Battle of Wartha, I sneaked up to a goblin supply ship at the back line, in hopes of being able to arrive at the Goblin Kingdom. As expected, it made its way back to Anthrax Harbor. For many hours, the ship sailed, while I hid within the crates.
Upon docking at the harbor, I prowled through the buildings to make my escape. Those were my very first steps in the Goblin Kingdom. Such beauty can be seen, and I realized they can influence the world greatly when given the right leader.
I've encountered a goblin while lurking through the alleys of Anthrax, yet she did not seem to care. I went out of the alley for a walk around the market, and no one really took bad notice of me. At first they all looked because it is rare to see a human in the kingdom, and that's it. My experience contrasts your belief that goblins have hatred towards humans. I was able to explore around Anthrax City without even facing trouble.
I barely had to use my sniper rifle. A kind goblin even offered me to tinker the rifle, in exchange that he paints a portrait of me smiling, which is nice. I do love it when someone appreciates my beauty, but let us not get out of the topic.
For days, I roamed and settled around the great technological city, discovering a lot of new things and learning the advanced technology of the Goblin Kingdom. I have been enjoying my stay, until this moment came.
I was recently strolling around dusk time until I've heard scads of thunderbolts in this tower, presuming it was you.
Upon making my way up here, I've witnessed the horrifying things you've done to the goblin sovereign. I can not stand long to observe a poor, old creature suffering, so I put an end to his life. I do realize your choice of restoring the economy was part of the plan in the first place, and you made up for it."
"That is quite a story, and thank you for understanding my choice," I said. "What about your father?"
"He is dead," she replied. "No one is currently assigned as the archmage. His death may have been a huge loss for me and the army, yet it is destiny. He died a hero, and forever will be a hero in everyone's hearts."
"Sad to hear." I said. "Although, have we won?"
"Lord Viktor is done for," she replied. "I conclude we have."
