Chapter 4: Accidentally On Purpose

Jae Hwa’s POV

“Mmm…” I wake up in the morning to the sun hitting my eyes, an alarm blaring and someone trying to tug my left hand from under my body. I try to calm my head so I don’t get a headache and end up focusing on the alarm ringtone instead:

I want to tell you every single day that "I love you"

Would you marry me?

I want to live loving you and cherishing you

I want to put you to sleep in my arms every night

Would you marry me?

Will you give my heart this permission?

*I'll stay next to you for the rest of my life (I do)

I love you (I do)

Through rain and snow I'll cherish you (I do)

I'll take care of you (My love)

“Donghae oppa?” I mumble after hearing the words of the song. “Aha! So you did say yes then!” I peek open my eyes and see Melena next to my bed holding my right hand up in the air above my body staring at my engagement ring. I sit up in the bed quickly and stare at her confused, “So you changed my alarm?” I ask.

“Yes, it’s in celebration I had a feeling you would say yes so I thought this song would be a nice way to top it off!” Melena chirps happily now swinging my hand. I snatch it out of her grasp annoyed and the movement so early in the morning, “You knew he was going to ask me?”

“Yes I helped him pick out the ring and everything, he told me about a month ago.” She confesses sheepishly, probably afraid of my reaction. I put on a serious face for a second and then bust out laughing, grabbing a pillow from my bed and swinging it at her head. “And you didn’t tell me!” I yell still hitting her. She grabs a pillow in defense and stands on my bed hitting me from above, “Donghae made me promise not to tell you!” She shouts. We hear a banging on the floor from the room below and go quiet for a second before busting out into a fit of giggles, “Some people are just no fun in the morning!” She yells still laughing.

“Let’s go! We have to go to the dorm and tell the rest of them!”  Melena grabs my wrist and drags me into my closet.

“That’s if Donghae didn’t tell them first, speaking of which I wonder what he thought of his presents…” My voice fades as I finish my sentence, I forgot all about Donghae’s presents, I hope he liked them, I’ll probably have to go to the dorm and see since he never told me.

I get dressed as fast as I can and make sure Melena’s ready before running out of the apartment and attempting to successfully dodge the swarm of paparazzi that are always out here now. I get into Melena’s car successfully and we start moving headed towards the dorm.

“Donghae?” “Siwon?” Melena and I both yell as we walk into the dorm taking off our shoes.

“Hey Jae, Mel.” Kyuhyun greets us as we walk into the kitchen, opening his arms for a hug which I walk right into. “Hey Kyuhyun I haven’t seen you in a while.” I smile at him.

“We’ve been busy lately.” He smiles down at me, believe me I know what he’s talking about, since the Super Show 5 is still running the guys have been constantly jumping from country to country.

“Where’s Donghae?” I ask.

“In his room, still sleeping I think.” He says going to the kitchen sink and washing some of the dishes.

“Ryeowook?” I ask, thinking about my other friend. “He should be in his room, he doesn’t have to leave for practice until eleven.” He says referring to the new play Ryeowook’s in, the Korean version of High School Musical which I can’t wait to see, I grew up with high school musical so it’ll be cool to see him in it.

“Thanks Kyu I’ll be right back.” I sneak off quietly to Donghae’s room where I see him still in bed like Kyuhyun said with his new iPod and soccer ball on his bed next to him where his stuffed animals usually are.

I lean in and kiss him gently on the lips watching as his eyes flutter, he wakes up smiling at me.

“Hi Jae.” He murmurs sleepily. “Hi Donghae.” I whisper kissing him one more time and then pulling away.

“So did you like your presents?” I ask as I sit down on his bed, he pulls me closer to him by wrapping his arms around my waist and tugging me so he’s hugging me from behind.

“I loved them Jae, they were really thoughtful. I felt bad for getting you something so small.” He murmurs into my back. I giggle helplessly, “Donghae what you gave me was not little, you asked me to be your wife which showed me you want me forever, that was the best present you could ever give me.”

“Then maybe I shouldn’t have did something extra for you.” He let’s go of me and leans on an elbow so he can stare at me.

“What did you do?” I say confused, I didn’t expect him to do anything extra for me after that amazingly sweet proposal. He reaches into the drawer next to him and shows me an envelope with two plane tickets to New York inside.

“When did you do this?” I ask trying my best not to freak out.

“Yesterday I called your parents and talked to them. They want us to come and visit now that we’re engaged, I ordered the plane tickets last night, they got delivered earlier today.” He explains holding my hand.

I know how he talked to them, about two months ago Donghae started to teach me little bits of Chinese and Japanese and helped me make my Korean more fluent in exchange for me teaching him English, we’ve been watching movies together like The Avengers, How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days and Gone With The Wind to help him learn and understand and I’ve been coaching him along the way.

“Donghae you…shouldn’t have done that.” I whisper afraid.

“Why? Jae what’s wrong?” He rubs my back gently trying to calm me down.

“My parent’s and I don’t get along; I haven’t talked to them since the week before I came to Korea, my father called me and said I was worthless and a humiliation to the family.” I feel tears sliding down my cheeks.

“I’m sorry Jae I can cancel; I didn’t know it was that bad.” He wraps me into a hug as I sob into his shoulders.

“No it’s okay I need to get over it and talk to them, at least for your sake. When do we go?”

“In two weeks after our next concert.” He exclaims. “Well I guess we’re going to New York.” I whisper. New York, the last time I was there I tried to escape and the only thing that saved me was Sunhee, let’s hope with Donghae around I won’t need to be saved this time.
