she was laughing at what you said when a few girls passed by. they looked at her and giggled to themselves.
she immediately stopped laughing but they continued to whisper things to each other as they pointed at her.
you stood up to talk to them, but she stopped you. instead she stood up and went to give them a piece of her mind.
"you know what. i used to care about what you guys thought of me. i actually listen to your words and everyone else at the school's words and believed them. not anymore more. maybe it's your way of hiding who you are; to hide behind the words you're saying, so you're not bullied. maybe saying those things about me made you feel better about yourself. i'm not going to stoop to your level and say things about you, i'm not going make you feel bad about yourself. but i'm also not going to listen to your words anymore. say anything you want about me, whisper behind my back, but it won't affect me. it just shows what kind of person you are."
not waiting to see their reaction or wait for their response, she grabbed your hand and walked away from them.
she felt good about herself. it felt good to finally stand up for herself.
