"Elly, I'm sorry to do this but I have to let you go." My ears go red with anger.
"B-but I have done my absolute best! I swear I won't be late again! I can-" he cuts me off mid sentence.
"Elly your best won't cut it."
"If you fire me I'll lose my apartment. I'll be homeless for Pete sakes!"
He frowns but holds his posture. His hand finds its way into the bottom drawer of his desk. He pulls out a check and begins to write.
"Here's Twenty five dollars, that will get you a meal." He hands me the check and I stand up and straighten my skirt.
He thinks he can pull me down.
I'll be back on my feet before he knows it.
