one day we'll be driftwood,
washed up on stony shore.
bodies lifeless, stone cold, hard,
etched with what came before.
one day we'll be urchins,
within saline sea.
our bodies thorny, spiteful, dire,
crying out our pleas.
one day we'll be seaweed,
anchored to the ground.
bodies unsteady, uncertain, unloved,
in our own minds we'll drown.
one day we'll be sea foam,
riding horses white.
eternities and absence-free,
together day and night.
