Drip...Drip.
Melted snow water runs along the creases between my shoes and the pavement, making way for the damp soil to emerge.
It's skillful as it carefully navigates through the little cracks in the ground, trying to stay alive; to stay free but then it comes across fresh soil which soaks it up and it's little reign is over.
Is that how it will go for me? Will I allow my heart to melt for James? I don't know. It might have bitter consequences.
I sigh as I look up to meet the sorrowful face of the sky. It's been 5 days since I last saw James. Five Days. 120 hours of past information that I could've gained, gone.
I wonder what he's doing sometimes. Is he thinking about me like I'm thinking about him?
I hope he doesn't really think that this "thing" between us is going to work. It would be a pity breaking his heart. He seems like a nice guy.

"Yea, sure. I'll be there in a while Jessie."
"If your thinking about James, he called today. Said something about seeing you tomorrow."
I turned to meet her blabbering face but I couldn't hear a word. James didn't forget about me! And he's coming tomorrow!
Recollecting my thoughts, "Out of town.", were the only words I heard before Jessie went back inside.
If he thinks I'm going father than a mile away from home, he's delusional.

I smile with pleasure as I fold my hands behind my head and place my feet on top of my office desk.
Everything is falling into place. I will get my money and maybe just maybe, live a peaceful life.
I kind of feel bad for doing this but it's not like I'll be getting hurt in the long run. Just no catching feelings. Plus, I've done this before.
