I dropped my phone and felt my legs turn to jello. Aidens hands held me up.
"Mia! Mia? Mia!" Aidens voice was laud but quiet at the same time.
"Dan... Daniel!" I finally pushed the words out.
"What about him?" Aiden asked.
"He's in the hospital" i began cry. Aiden took my hand and dragged me out of the halls.
I cried and cried. What could have happened?
"Mia?" Aiden spoke. I realized we weren't at school anymore. We were in his car, in the parking lot, at the hospital.
"My dad said he's fine now" Aiden squeezed my hand.
"He's fine" he assured.
"I want to see him." After a second, it occurred to me what he jut said.
"Wait?" He stopped himself from getting out of the car.
"What do you mean your dad?"
He tensed up. "Shit" he sighed.
"My dad's his doctor"
"What?" I scrunched my face.
"I moved here with my father. He was his specialist during the summer when he was in New york. I met him there and we got to talking. After a few times of running into each other there we kind of understood each other i guess. He talked about you, a lot."
I tried to comprehend what he just said.
"That doesn't make sense. Why does he not like you?" I asked myself out loud.
Aiden sighed. "He thought I would tell you. He didn't want you to know until he was forsure..."
" Forsure?" He shrugged in apologetic way.
"Sure about what exactly?" I narrowed my eyes.
"It's his secret not mine" he repeated my words.
I followed Aiden into the building. We ended up in the fifth floor. He led me to a section of the floor and just as we turned Anne was outside the door.
"Anne?" I choked. Her watery eyes began to leak as she saw me. She enveloped me in her hug.
"Can i see him?"
She wasn't sure what to say. I passed her and stopped. He was laying down, tubes stuck in his arms, oxygen tube in his nose. His face was pale, his hair was thinning with some missing patches. I guess that explained the beanie.
"What are you doing here?" He choked. His voice dry and cracked.
"I...I..." I didn't know what to say.
"Get out. Get out Mia! Fucking leave !" He shouted. I flinched as he raised his voice. I ignored his request and slowly walked closer.
"How bad is it?" I whispered.
"I don't want you seeing me like this Mia, please just go" he faced away from me. His tears covered his cheeks.
"I love you" I whispered. I slowly grabbed his hand and laced our fingers.
"Im sorry I didn't tell you" he cried.
"No, I'm so sorry for being such a bitch about you not telling me" i sniffed.
"You're a stubborn girl"
"And you're a stupid boy"
"Stupid for you" he wiped his face.
"Can i stay?" I wiped my eyes.
"No" he sniffed.
"Well too bad, I am" I bent down and kissed his cheek.
"I love you Mia"
"Guess the cats out of the bag huh?" Aiden said from the door.
"Yea guess so" Daniel smirked.
