Fairy's POV
"Fairy!" Shawn shouts from his driveway.
"Yes Shawn?" I shout back.
"I have some good news! Meet me under the tree in 10!" Shawn shouts smiling.
"Okay!" I shout.
I jog inside.
"Hi dad!" I say setting my bag on the bench.
"Hey Fairy!" My dad says smiling.
"I'm gunna hang out with Shawn, I don't know how long." I say.
"Okay! Be home before 10." He says.
"I will be!" I say smiling.
You may think I smile a lot for losing my mom. I'm faking. Shawn knows it. But he actually makes me smile for real.
I grab my phone and head over to the tree.
The tree has been our meeting place for the longest of time.
"So what's the news?" I ask approaching the tree.
I climb up the tree, onto a branch near him.
"I've been invited to join magcon." Shawn says.
"Get out of the tree." I say straight face.
He looks at me confused but does.
I jump down and hug him tightly.
"This is the start of your dream Shawn!" I say.
He laughs and hugs me back.
"I know." He says.
"I leave in 3 days." He says slowly.
"What?" I say stepping back.
"I leave in 3 days for 3 months." He says looking down.
I hug him again.
We don't say anything.
"Movie night?" He asks looking down at me.
I nod.
"Let me tell my dad." I say.
He nods.
I jog home and go in the back sliding door.
"Dad! I'm having a movie night with Shawn!" I yell.
"I thought you would. His mother told me the news." He says.
I nod.
"Have fun Fairy!" My dad says as I run to the Mendes house.
Shawn swings the door open before I can even touch it.
He picks me up, throwing me over his shoulder.
"Shawn!" I says squirming.
"Yes?" He asks trying not to laugh.
"Can you pleaaase put me down." I ask.
"Mom can you grab her phone?" He asks.
I hear the sprinkler system turn on.
Shawn sets his phone on the table next to mine.
"Shawn! Don't you dare!" I say squirming even more.
"I dare!" He says running out to the back yard.
The sprinklers turn on. Shawn takes me off his shoulder.
He holds me so I can't run.
"Shawn!" I say.
"Fairy." He says smirking.
"I'm soaked!" I say.
"So am I!" He says laughing.
I manage to get out of his arms.
"Hey!" He says trying to grab me.
I run away from him.
Shawn catches me because of my short legs.
We slip and fall to the muddy ground.
"You're a jerk!" I say.
I grab some mud and rub it on his face and in his hair.
"Oh you're asking for it!" He says grabbing some mud.
"Kids get inside before you become mud monsters!" Mrs. Mendes yells.
"Sorry mom." Shawn shouts.
"I think Fairy beat you." She says laughing.
I stick my tongue out at him.
We stand up and get rinsed off by the sprinklers.
"Shawn. You're leaving tomorrow morning. They scheduled an early show." Shawn's Mom says.
Shawn doesn't say anything.
"I'm sorry Shawn, they need you there." She says giving us towels.
We dry off as much as we can.
We go up to Shawn's room.
"I think you still have some underwear here." Shawn mumbles digging through his drawers.
I get in between him and his dresser. I wrap my arms around his waist.
He hugs me back.
"I'm sorry." He says quietly.
I nod.
I look up at him and smile. A real smile.
He knows it and smiles back.
"Go shower. I did find your stuff." He says handing me clothes.
I nod.
I look at what he gave me when I get to the bathroom.
His favorite T shirt and my old volleyball spandex.
"Shawn!" I shout.
"What?" He shouts back.
"Seriously?!" I shout.
I hear him laugh.
I roll my eyes and turn the water on.
Shawn's POV
"Fairy!" I shout from my driveway.
"Yes Shawn?" Fairy shouts back.
"I have some good news! Meet me under the tree in 10!" I shout smiling.

"Have you told her?" Mom asks.
"I'm going to, we are meeting under the tree in 10 minutes." I say.
She nods and shoos me out.

I see Fairy coming across my yard. She gets to the front door. Before she has time to think I swing the door open.
I pick her up and carry her over my shoulder.
"Shawn!" She says squirming.
"Yes?" I say holding back a laugh.

I laugh. My shirts are giant on her!
I grab my guitar and start to play.
I finish playing. Someone claps.
I look up. Fairy. She's my biggest fan that isn't family.
I smile.
"You're amazing Shawn." She says coming to sit next to me.
I set my guitar back on the stand.
"You need to pack." She says grabbing my suitcase.
I groan.
"Shawn." She says slowly.
"I know. I just don't want to leave you." I say.
"We can call and text every day. You will come back." Fairy say coming back next to me.
She leans on my shoulder.
We sit there just enjoying each other's company.
"Come on now. Let's pack." Fairy says standing up.
"Ugh fine, okay." I say.
We pack for what seems like hours.
"Shawn! Fairy! It's 9:40. Go watch a movie!" My mom yells.
"Peter Pan?" I ask. Fairy's favorite movie.
She nods and runs down stairs.
I jog after her.
She runs and jumps on the giant bean bag chair.
I climb in next to her after putting in the movie.
When Wendy and her brothers are flying to Neverland, I notice Fairy shiver.
"Cold?" I ask.
She nods.
I grab a blanket and move closer to her.
I drape the blanket over the both of us.
She leans her head on my shoulder.
I pull her onto my lap.
"Shawn." She giggles.
"Shhh." I say holding her close.
She giggles but doesn't argue.
Her head leans up against me.
"I'm going to miss you." She whispers.
I squeeze her tightly.
"I'll miss you too." I say.
