~*Whisper’s POV*~
I wake up in the middle of the night suddenly. A feeling of dread fills me.
I sit up in bed to see James sound asleep and snoring in bed. I don’t want to bother him over a simple feeling.
That’s when I think of the only other person that I could talk to.
I pick up my phone and leave the bedroom quietly. I head down stairs and sit on the couch before dialing the number.
A stranger answers though. “Who is calling?”
I lean forward as I talk. “Whisper Woods, Sky’s cousin. Can I talk to her?”
The girl sighs. “I have bad news. About an hour ago Sky was murdered.”
My body freezes and every thought in my mind is put to a halt. I just sit and stare at the floor as the new sinks in.
But the girl keeps talking. “We think it was Fay. There was a huge fight thought. Aurora was found in the woods drained and dead. Her room is a disaster and all kinds of damages. Sky put up one hell of a fight. But I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But while I have you on the phone I need to know if you think you can handle the funeral arrangements or if we need to just have Celesta handle them.”
I slowly pull the phone away from my ear and hang up as I set the phone on the table. I then run both hands through my hair and hold my head.
About an hour later James finds me sitting like this as I stare at the phone.
He sits next to me. “What’s wrong?”
I take a deep breath and try to speak but it comes out in a whisper. “My mother killed Sky a few hours ago. Sky is dead.”
James sighs a few moments later and stands up and pulls me with him. He leads me upstairs and makes me lay down in bed. I curl up and hug a pillow still in shock.
I pass out after while.
When I wake up I try to just ignore the fact and go about my day. But it’s obvious that I don’t know how to handle it.
James finally gets tired of it and tells me to just be lazy. I obey and sit and play with the kids.
~*James’s POV*~
I make Whisper leave the house work to me after the second time that she forgets where dishes are out up. I clean up what needs to be cleaned and head to the living room.
Whisper is sitting on the couch staring off while the twins watch TV. Both appear to be 11 by now. I sigh and shake my head.
Maybe I need to just confront Whisper about it.
Thorn picks up my idea and brushes it away like dust. ‘Leave her be. She is trying to cope. She has lost a lot and gone through a lot of pain. It will take time but she will get over it. Sky wasn’t even that close to her. It was only because Sky is the only real family Whisper had before she learned of her mother. But she can’t just call Fay up and talk.’
I roll my eyes. ‘True. But I wish I could help.’
Thorn huffs. ‘Just worry about the pups and go with what you think is best. But listen to me even if you don’t hear my often.’
I nodd to myself and do as I’m told.
~~ I’m sorry that everything has been going by so quickly but it’s not easy to write all of this.
I do hope that you will not hate me after the last chapter and this one being short.
I do have a big plan for the finally which may be coming up soon.
