9.28.2084 Thursday Evening
The next day, I was pushed into a line of girls that filed through a door. Ladies in nurse outfits came and took us one by one. When my turn came, I was led to a small room with many small, rectangle windows. The lady walked around me, examining me from every side. She poked and stabbed me, making me hiss. She asked for my name and age; then when I gave it, she scribbled it down before leaving.
I sat on the cold floor, pulling my knees into my chest. I cried, letting the tears flow freely. I glanced up occasionally to see a boy peering in at me. I listened to footsteps pound by; then the sound dulled down as the boys begin to slow. I looked at the creaking door; then I stared at the floor again as the boy knelt before me. He lifted my chin and a smile crossed my face. “Ming,” I purred as he peered into my blue eyes.
“I choose you. I didn’t even have a peek at the others,” he whispered as he pulled me into his strong arms.
“I would have chosen you too,” I purred as my head fell onto his shoulder. I slept, warm and safe, in his arms.
