Chapter 45: Cheating???
Riley's POV:
BEEP! BEEP! I groaned as I turned off my alarm. I rolled around the bed a bit. Wait a second, something is missing. I opened my eyes and I looked at the right side of the bed. Tony wasn't here. That's strange.
I rubbed my eyes and I rolled out of bed. I put my glasses on and I made my way to the kitchen. I stopped once I saw Tony at the counter on his phone, his back was facing me.
"Riley's not going to find out, we'll be fine, I promise." Tony said in a hushed tone.
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"We just gotta find a perfect timing to meet up again," he added.
I cleared my throat to let him know I was here. Tony jumped and his eyes widened once he saw me. He quickly hang up his call. I put a hand on my hip.
"Who was that?" I asked him.
"Just.. Someone," he answered.
"Are you cheating on me?" I asked him.
"What?! No, of course not!" He denied.
I laughed sarcastically.
"Then please explain why you just said 'Riley's not going to find out, we'll be fine, I promise. We just gotta find a perfect timing to meet up again.'" I said mimicking him.
He sighed.
"I can't tell you," he said.
I shook my head. I turned away from him and headed back to our bedroom. I put on a simple hoodie, sweatpants, and put my hair up in a messy bun. I quickly grabbed my phone and bag and left the room. Tony was waiting in the living room.
"Where are you going?" He asked me walking up to me.
"I can't tell you," I mocked him, rolling my eyes.
I opened the door and left. I got inside my car and I drove away. My phone started to buzz. I pulled over and answered my phone. It was Jake.
"Tony just called and told me you left," he said.
I sighed.
"I think he's cheating on me," I told him.
"What? That's crazy. He would never," he said defending Tony.
That's something new.
"I heard him on the phone with someone saying 'Riley's not going to find out, we'll be fine, I promise. We just gotta find a perfect timing to meet up again.'"
"Well that does sound like he's cheating. I'll talk to him," he said calmly, which was surprising.
"I gotta go. Take care. Bye," he said in a hurry.
"Bye." I hanged up.
I looked at the time, it's only 11 am. I'm suppose to have a small mission to attend to right now, I guess I'll just skip it for today.
I still can't believe Tony might be cheating on me. But I feel like that's not the case. But I do know for sure that he's hiding something.
My phone rang. I looked and saw it was Nat calling. I answered.
"Jake just told me what happened," she said.
"Oh.." I trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"Hey cheer up. I'll tell you what. Let's hang out, we haven't done that in a while." She suggested.
"Mmm, I don't know," I mumbled unsure.
"Pleaseee," she pleaded like a little child.
I chuckled.
"Alright," I sighed.
"Okay, meet me at the Manhattan Mall," she told me.
"Okay," I hung up.
That's weird. Natasha doesn't like shopping, but yet she's asking me to go shopping with her. Today just keeps getting even more odd.
I drove my way to the mall. It took about an hour to get the mall because of the traffic. I parked my car. I took my hair out the messy bun and I put my hood over my head. I entered the mall. Now what?
"I almost forgot that you wear glasses," said a familiar voice.
I looked and see Nat on my right. I smiled.
"I hate wearing them," I told her.
She chuckled.
"Cmon let's have lunch," she said.
I nod in agreement. I'm starving. We made our way to the food court. Once we got our food we sat down at a table for two.
"Do you really think Tony is cheating on you?" Nat asked me.
I bit my lip. I shrugged my shoulder.
"But I know for sure that he's hiding something from me." I frowned.
"Tony use to be a big heartbreaker that's why it's so easy to think that he's cheating on you. But I know that he loves you too much and he wouldn't do anything stupid to ruin what you guys have." Nat assured me.
I nod. She's right.
"I have one question tho," she said.
"Ask away."
"Do you miss the old days?" She asked.
I raised a brow.
"Do you miss the days where you were a heartbreaker, when you didn't worry about getting your heart broken?" She asked.
I chuckled.
"Not at all. I found the man that I love very much and I'm happy where I am now." I told her.
"I still don't get how the two biggest players I know manage to fall in love with each other," she said.
I just shrugged my shoulder. Even I don't know the answer to that.
"What about you, Nat?" I asked her.
I smirked.
"How's you and Steve?" I asked her wiggling my eyebrows.
She scoffed.
"We're friends, nothing more. Plus believe it or not, Captain America has this big crush on someone." She told me smirking.
"Who's the lucky girl?" I asked curiously.
"Just some girl from SHIELD." She said.
"Well what about Bruce?" I asked.
She groaned.
"I've got no time for romance, Riley. So don't even bother." She said.
I rolled my eyes.
*Later*
It's about 8:30 p.m already, Nat and I are still in the mall. We're currently inside a dress store. Nat has been making me tryout a ton of dresses since she's urging me to go to a formal party with her tonight.
She threw another dress to me. It was a maxi dress, the top part was gold ish and the rest is black. I groaned.
"Last one, I promise," she told me.
I went back inside the changing room. I put the dress on. I looked at myself in the mirror. Damnn it looks nice on me. I got out of the changing room and I showed Nat.
"That's the one," she squealed.
Thank god I don't have to try anymore dresses.
"Keep it on, we're going in about half an hour after we get your hair done." She told me checking her watch.
My jaw dropped.
"This must be a very important party," I muttered to myself.
I got all my things in a bag and I payed for the dress and the black pumps that went with it. Nat and I went to the hair salon next.
"Now would do you want for your hair?" Asked the stylist.
"Just straighten it," I said.
Nat shook her head.
"Give her waterfall braids," Nat told the stylist.
"But that'll take so long," I whined.
Nat just rolled her eyes at me as the stylist began working on my hair.
"Oh shit!" Cursed Natasha as she checked her phone.
"What?" I asked curiously.
"Agent Hill has a mission for me." She said.
"Nat, you can't leave me here," I said.
"Don't worry, I'll have someone fetch you. Oh and I'm borrowing your car." She said flashing my car keys that was already in her hands.
My jaw dropped. Before I could stop her she had already bolted away. I grunted.
After about half an hour, my hair is finally done. I payed for it and I left the store. I opened my phone. Still no text from Tony. I frowned. What is up with this guy?!
I felt a hand touch my shoulder. My reflexes got to me. I twisted the hand a bit and I turned around and I grabbed the person by it's neck. It was Jake. Oh shoot. I quickly let go of him. He was wearing a fancy suit.
"Sorry Jake," I apologized to him fixing his tie.
He chuckled.
"It's alright. It's not like I'm not use to it." He said smiling.
"Nat sent you?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Oh and I have something for you," he said reaching in his pockets.
He took out my contact lenses container.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed as I quickly put my contact lenses on.
Much better. I put my glasses in my bag.
"Now let's go, beautiful," he said.
"To where?" I asked.
"You'll see," he smirked.
We exit the mall and got in his car.
"Put this on," Jake said passing me a blindfold.
"What for?" I asked confused.
"I have a surprise for you, it'll for sure cheer you up" he said.
"This better not be a prank," I warned him.
"Not today," he mumbled.
I put the blindfold on. After about an hour, the car finally stopped.
"Wait here," I heard Jake say.
I nod my head. After about a minute, I heard my door open.
"Jake?"
"Mhmm," he hummed.
He helped me out of car. I held onto his arm.
"Can I take this off now?" I asked.
"As a matter of fact, yes," said a different but very familiar voice.
I took off my blindfold quickly and I found....
