Leslie:
The ground shook below her. Everyone on the fifteenth story screamed frantically, trying to get to lower ground. Leslie stood in the middle of it. She pushed away a woman in an expensive looking suit, trying to get ahead. A man grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back, causing her to fall over. The shaking ground made it hard for her to get up.
"Someone please help me! I can't leave my little brother!" She screamed, knowing her little brother was waiting for her on the second floor. She was all he had. People scurried around her. No one offering to help her up. "Someone, please!" She begged. Then the building collapsed. The last thing Leslie remembered was the ceiling above her coming down on her. Then everything went dark.

Kevin:
Kevin hated the way his apron fit on him, but wore it anyway for his dad. He loved working in his father's candy store, even if he had to swallow his pride wearing the uniform that came with the job. A man and his young son walked up to the register.
"Is that all for today?" He asked with a smile.
"I'm afraid so. I can't afford any more." The man said. Three or four pieces of candy were on the counter. Kevin slightly frowned. He took a few pieces of taffy from a small container and gave them to the man.
"Keep them, no charge." Kevin said. He saw the man and boy's faces light up. "Thank you so much. I don't know how to repay you."
"The only way you can repay me is to pass the kindness along. That's all I ask for."
The man smiled and unwrapped a piece of taffy, handing it to the boy. A man suddenly walked in wearing a mask and holding a gun.
"If anyone moves, everyone dies. Give me all the money in the register, Pillsbury." He was talking to Kevin.
"Sir, I can—" The man gave him a sharp look. Kevin began opening the register. Then with a sharp move, punched the man. "Take your candy and run." Kevin said to the boy and his father. The two ran as the robber collected himself.
"We've got ourselves a hero," He said. Then pointed the gun at Kevin. "Night, night Pillsbury." The trigger then was pulled.

Gina:
She planted her feet on the board. She loved surfing and devoted at least two days a week to it. Living close to the beach helped with that love.
The smell of the sea wafted in her face. She couldn't get enough of that smell. It made her feel at home. Ever since she moved, the ocean was all she had. Riding waves was her life.
"Hey G, betcha can't stay on longer than me!" He best friend teased her.
"Who's been surfing longer?" She said with a smile.
"Three, two, one, go!" Her friend yelled.
Gina paddled toward the wave, then stood up. She looked over to her friend, she was surprisingly still on. The wave was difficult to ride, considering that the water was deep.
Gina felt her feet slip. Her face collided with the wet board and she slipped into the deep water.
  "G!" Her friend screamed.
Gina gulped for air and accidentally breathed in water. She came to a terrifying realization. She was drowning.
She found it harder to stay above the water as she gulped. She slipped fully underwater and couldn't bring herself back up. Water filled her nose and she closed her eyes. She suddenly went limp.

Mark:
The second the siren went off, Mark went numb. The storms had been bad that day, but he didn't think it would cause this.
"Mark, you know the drill. Get together pillows and blankets. Meet the rest of us at the shelter in the back." His dad said to him.
"Roger that." He replied. He went to his room first and got a duffel bag or two. He got his pillow and blanket and put them in. He put both bags on his shoulder and headed to his big brother's room.
He sat down on his brother's bed. He put his brother's favorite pillow in along with his blanket. He zipped up the first bag and opened the empty second one. He went to his parent's room and put their's in.
Lastly, he went to his little sister's room. He sat down on her pink bed. He put a soft pink blanket in, her favorite and her pillow.
"Mark!" His father yelled. "You need to come now!" Mark quickly zipped up the bag and ran down the hall and into the backyard.
He then remembered his little sister's favorite stuffed animal. The one she'd had since she was a baby. "Dad," he yelled over the howling wind. "I forgot her toy. I need you to take the bag." He then tossed the bag to his dad and ran back towards the house.
He ran to his little sister's room, he could hear the wind pounding against the house. He found her toy. She's gonna be so happy, he thought. He then ran back outside.
   "I found it!" He yelled.
   "Great! Now come on!"
Mark ran to his dad, who was standing beside the shelter door. Right then, a piece of debris hit him in the head, knocking him to the ground.
Wind pulled him off the ground. "Dad, take her toy." He said, tossing her stuffed animal. He couldn't see anything. The debris that hit him caused him to lose his vision. He was thrown by the tornado and hit something. Then, along with his vision, he lost his hearing. And everything. He was gone.

Leslie opened her eyes. She was surrounded by white.
"New arrival." A woman's voice said. Leslie sat up. She saw a woman dressed in full white at a white desk typing something into a computer
"Where am I?" Leslie asked the woman.
"You're in the afterlife, welcome to Heaven." She replied. Leslie screamed.
"I can't be dead!" She said in disbelief.
"You are. My name is Sarah. And I'm your guardian here in heaven." The woman at the desk announced. Sarah was a plump old woman. Her hair was white and her smile was similar to her grandmother's. Leslie thought she would be the type to bake cookies for neighborhood children. She looked down at herself and saw she was wearing all white. "Man, you guys really like the color white here."
"You could say that," Sarah said. "Here, follow me. I'll show you around."

Kevin sucked in a heavy breath. He was surrounded by the same thing as Leslie. The only speck of color was his own dark skin. He saw a man standing above him. He had messy red hair and freckles. His smile was lopsided. Welcoming.
"Howdy, hero." The man uttered. He reached his hand out to him. Kevin took his hand and was pulled up. The man was strong.
"Am I alive?" Mark replied to the man with a question.
"Not really. You're in heaven. I'm not the typical guardian. I help people who have died in a way like you did. You died saving someone."
"I was just doing what I felt like I needed to."
   "You want a tour?"
   "Sure."
"Follow me. Also, my name is Andrew." His guardian informed him.

Gina's eyes focused to the plain color. White. Just like the others. She saw a man sitting down. Staring at her.
"Who are you? Where am I?"
   "I'm Sean. And you're in heaven. I'm you're guardian."
   "I'm dead?"
"Yes. All of the new arrivals ask that. You know, you're my seventh one today, and it's only," he looked at his watch. "Eight-sixteen. In the morning."
   "I—I don't."
"It's okay, Gina. Follow me. You're gonna want to meet some people."

   Mark's eyes fluttered open. "I'm dead, aren't I?"
"That's a first." A child's voice answered. "And yes, you are."
Mark stood up. "Who are you?"
"I'm you're guardian. And my name is Cara." The girl said.
"Is my family okay?" Mark asked. He was genuinely concerned.
   "They are alright."
   "Good,"
   "Come with me Mark."
Mark followed Cara out a door.

"Where are you taking me?" Leslie questioned.
"To meet some people. They all died the same time as you. And they're all you're age. You're all special. And you'll all be guardians for someone you love." Sarah replied.
