Anna's Pov
By the sound of rain pattering and the dullness of the sky, I knew I would have a difficult time walking to school. I loathed the gloomy weather; as it tends to affect my mood. Whenever it was sunny, I would be pumped with adrenaline, but with the dreary climates, it was as if I could barely function properly.
I huffed out a heave of air and snatched a nearby jacket hanging by my closet. I forcefully trudged down the stairs and whipped the door open, only to be greeted with the running water seeping down the porch roof.
These were the times I wished I had a car to drive to school with, or even a driver's license. Since my parent's don't really come home often, I never got to get a permit or learn how to drive.
I draped the black hood over my head and started taking hesitant steps out of the house. I made sure to lock the door securely before heading on my dreadful, horrible, sickening journey.
I cringed as the rain poured upon my jacket, as well as soaking my boots. I shivered at the coldness, knowing there was no possible way in mankind to arrive at school decently dry. This was the end of me.
"Need a hand?"
I spun around quickly, luckily not earning a whiplash in the process. My eyes widened surprise at the presence of Louis. When had he ever walked to school? I have never seen him walk this route, or I would have probably noticed by now.
As if responding to my unanswered question, he said, "My mom's car is in the repair shop so I gave her my car to use to drive to work."
"Ooh." I mumbled. All of a sudden, I noticed that the harsh rain wasn't pouring on me anymore. I glanced above me, only to find a dark blue umbrella over my head.
"That's better." Louis grinned down at my short figure. My head only reached up to his chest, making me scowl at how small I was compared to him.
"Oh, Louis you don't have to! I'm fine and I'd be taking up space in your umbr-"
"I want to, don't worry." He interrupts, smiling sheepishly, "The umbrella is gigantic anyway. I couldn't let you drown in the rain even if I wanted to. Shall we?"
I bite my lip furiously in attempt to force back the huge smile threatening to make its way upon my face. I could practically feel the blush creeping on my pale face. After a few moments of striving to compose myself, I stutter a weak, "We shall."
We trudge through the wet sidewalks for a few minutes; which consisted of sneaking glances at one another. At the end, we would always end up as a blushing mess.
"Are you still going to the basketball game after school?" The brunette questions, interrupting the quiet enviornment.
"D-definetely!" I beam. To be frank, I totally forgot that he had asked me to hang out with him yesterday.
The thought of spending time with him made the all too well known butterflies erupt in my stomach. I could feel my entire body start to shake in excitement.
Next thing I know, we arrive in front of the building doors. Louis closes his umbrella and shakes the excess water off. Before I could even place my hand on the door, he opens the entrance for me.
"Thanks."
"No problem." He replies.
When we enter the school side by side, it felt different. I had always been alone and invisible in a crowd. I always walked by myself to my locker and trudged to my advisory room with no company. Therefore, it meant a lot that Louis was here with me. That another person; other than Riley, finally cared about me.
When I collected my belongings to my locker, I was rather more shocked to see the brunette there with his binder in hand.
"Uh, do you need anything?" I ask, tilting my head in confusion.
"Do you really think I would leave you now?" He questions.
"Oh, um okay then." I say awkwardly.
We trudge side by side in the hallway, recieving odd looks by nearby students. However, the most shocked look I got was from David, who was struggling to find a certain textbook in his locker. Both of our eyes met, but I was snapped out of my gaze when Louis nudge my shoulder and offered me a reassuring smile. Yet, he didn't even know what I was so nervous about.
In the meantime, we finally reach my advisory room.
"Thank you. For everything. You honestly made my day." I earnestly state.
"You're welcome. It was very nice having your company." He beams.
"Well, might as well get to class. I'll see you later?"
"Definetely." I frantically wave goodbye as he disappears around the corner.
Now, the only thing getting in my way from spending time with him is the whole school day.
Whoopee.
***
You would not believe how elated I was when the final bell rang. With the day filled with awkward glances from David, wiggling eyebrows from Riley, and the boring classes, I did not know how much I could contain.
Especially at lunch. I could literally not stop shaking from the nerves at the thought of the basketball game. During the whole time, I sat in my own world while Riley stived to complete her undone math homework. In the meantime, David tried to make a conversation with me, but with what happened to the previous lunch, the uncomfortable tension grew enormous. I only replied in short responses, which resulted in disappointed expressions.
I have a harsh time trying to carry the unbearably heavy backpack on my shoulders. Apparently, my math teacher decided it would be the perfect time to switch homework to gigantic packets. However, me being the worst of the worst in math, I needed all of the notes I needed to complete this task, since the assignment was counted half of my grade.
I remembered Louis' instructions that he gave me while I we both walked to science. I headed towards the library, in which he suggested to go to since the game didn't start until a half hour.
I enter the quiet library, the sound of faint whispers and turning pages fill the room. My eyes roam around the room, finally spotting Louis at a table near the corner of the room.
With every step I took towards the grinning boy, the pit of my stomach blossomed with butterflies. I flash an excited smile, carefully setting my belongings down in front of an empty seat on the table. I was trying my best to not make a fool of myself; as it was my first time hanging out with a friend other than David and Riley. There was no way I could mess this up now, especially with him.
I sit down hesitantly on the dark blue chair with a loud creak. Since the basketball game wouldn't start until later, I thought it would be a perfect time to at least complete some of the pages on the math homework packet. However, me being the disgrace of the subject, I would probably only get a problem or two done.
After a few minutes, the only writing I had on my paper was my name and the date. Everything was going smoothly until the first problem. At least I made some progress, right?
"Ugh! I can't do this anymore!" I groan loudly, earning a death stare from the librarian and nearby students.
"Can't do what?" Louis asks curiously, peering over at the math problems. "Need help?"
"U-uh, please?"
"Okay. So inequalities? Wait, you did it wrong." He states, observing my work.
"Oh I did? I had no idea!" I exclaim sarcastically, rolling my eyes in annoyance. "No need to make me feel worse."
"Okay, okay sorry." He smiles sheepishly. "So, you don't get rid for the coefficient first, you get rid of the constant using inverse operations on both sides of the equal sign."
"Ooh."
"Yeah. So do you need help with anything else?" He asks.
"No, I think I got this. Thanks!"
The curly headed boy offers me a reassuring smile and turns back to his homework, leaving me with mine.
Before I know it, the half hour had passed and I stared proudly at the eight pages I had completed. Along the way, Louis had helped me on some other problems, but otherwise I had it all down.
We had packed up our items and started strolling to the gym, where eager students and proud parents were waiting. In the meantime, we had been telling one another corny pun jokes, in which I had laughed to each time.
"Okay... okay..." Louis chuckled, trying to gasp for air, "I have another one. Why did the mushroom go to the party?"
"Why?" I giggle, watching him intently on how the corners of his eyes crinkled when he laughed.
"Because he was a fungi!"
"That's... so... lame!" I slap his shoulder playfully, as he pouted dramatically.
"Anna?"
Our laughs died down when David appeared out of the office in his basketball uniform. His blonde hair was messily quaffed and two dark gray armbands were placed on his wrists. I had totally forgotten that he was part of the team.
"Uh hey David!" I awkwardly greet. It was pretty difficult to not notice the way he glared lasers at Louis. His eyes were literally boring at the brunette that stood next to me.
"Hello! I'm Louis, and you are?"
"David." The blond boy spat, purposefully ignoring the hand that Louis had offered to him.
"Oh, very well then. Nice meeting you!"
I watched David scowl as Louis took my hand and gestured me to walk first. I blushed madly as I took strides forward, our joined hands sending shocks up my spine like haywire.
Once we had rounded the corner, Louis whispers, "Well, he is a very nice person."
"I thought you were angry with him for kissing your girlfriend." I reply in confusion.
"Well, my mother says kindness is still important in any situation. If someone despises you, kill them with kindness. Also, I guess it wasn't really a big deal to me anymore. She chose to kiss him, so I guess it was never ment to be."
"Wow. And sorry about David back there. He can get overprotective sometimes over me."
"Wait. Don't you hate him?" The burnette asks, confusion filling his features.
"Well, it's kind of a long story." I slump my shoulders. "I'll tell you about it another time."
I glanced around the room in surprise. There were more people than I had expected. The team mascots jumped around frantically, attempting to catch the audience's attention to call out their school name. Meanwhile, cheerleaders were practicing their dance routines. Teachers and staff administrators were standing by the entrance and corner of the room, gazing around the room intently for rowdy children.
Now, all I have to do for the past hour is hopefully maintain my self control and stay out of any disasters.
Aha. Very easy.

Hello loves! Merry Christmas! This by far is the longest chapter I have ever written while creating this book. I decided to tell what was going to happen in the next chapter because I was afraid I would bore you to death with this unusually long chapter. Thanks for reading!
