Expectation: A normal day of class.
Reality: Your teachers like GI Joe and gives you a random pop quiz as the break it or make it final of the year.
My Experience/ Opinion: Although I really wanted it to be reality that wins. It's actually expectations that does. It wouldn't be right to say that you aren't warned about tests and other important events a head of time by your teacher. They'd give you a three day notice on when you have a test which is good because it gives you time to prepare and study the materials you will need to focus on. You will never have someone give a random pop quiz.
