Caspar's POV
When I got home my mom was sitting in the living room.
" Hi Caspar, how was your day?"
I closed the front door and walked toward the stairs as I just wanted to go to my room.
" It was alright." I frowned.
" Why do you look so sad? Did something happen?"
I took a deep breath and started to cry. I can never fight back my tears when I'm around my mom," Joe broke up w-with me."
" Aw, sweetheart come here." She opened her arms as I walked over to where she was sitting on the couch.
She rubbed my back as I rested my head on her shoulder," Did this just happen today?"
I sniffled," No, a few days ago. I just didn't want to talk about it... B-but today I found out he got back tougher with his ex and they're going to homecoming with each other tonight."
She sighed," I'm so sorry Caspar. Break ups are hard but you'll get through it. "
" I don't know mom, I-I think I'm in love with him."I admitted.
Yes, I'm in love with him.
It's so crazy to even say that but I've always known. Well since last week that is.
I think I really realized one night when we were just sitting in my room just talking until like 4am about anything and everything.
My mom sighed," Love is a serious thing."
I nodded, " I know."
" Do you think he feels the same?"
I sat up and wiped my eyes," No, or else he wouldn't have broke up with me, got back together with his ex, and now going to homecoming with him. "
" Sometimes people don't realize what they have until it's gone. Give him some time. He'll realize what he's missing. "
My mom is right about a lot of things, but I don't think she's right about this.

I eventually got ready and headed over to Cara's house.
I watched as she walked out of her house.
She was wearing a long red dress with her hair curled. She looked pretty.
I bet Joe looks amazing.
I frowned just thinking about him.
She got into my car and leaned over to hug me.
" You ready?" I asked.
" Mhm." She smiled.
The car ride there consisted of her talking about things I don't care about and me thinking about what the night will hold.
Once we got inside the gym it was already packed.
Sorry by Justin Bieber was playing.
I looked around wondering if Joe is here yet.
I didn't see him.
" I'm gonna go say hi to my friend Macy real quick." Cara said.
I just nodded and went over to get a drink.
" We're gonna slow things down a little." The DJ said.
Livewire by Oh Wonder started playing.
I ran my fingers through my hair as I felt tears fill my eyes.
I frustratedly sighed," Stop thinking about him." I whispered to myself.
" Thinking about who?"
I looked up and saw Joe standing next to me.
I sniffled and cleared my throat," N-no one."
He tilted his head and scanned my face with a concerned look on his face," You've been crying."
" No I haven't, I-I'm fine. " I wiped my eyes and gulped.
He looks amazing... I bet his boyfriend thinks so too.
" You're not fine, what happened?" He lifted my chin to look at him.
I didn't want to break down in front of him so I rolled my eyes," Nothing Joe, I'm gonna go find Cara. Have a nice night." I started to walk away.
" Cara? You're back together?" He asked stopping me.
" No, we both didn't have dates so we just went together."
He looked down and nodded," I'm really sorry for the way I've treated you lately."
I shrugged," It's alright, how are you and Justin?"
" No it's not alright. You're the most caring, loving person I know and I treated you like shit all because of stupid jealousy. You didn't deserve that."
" Jealously? What was there to be jealous of?"
He bit his lip," Cara, I didn't want you guys hanging out."
" Why?"
" Because I- because she's not a good person."
" Justin isn't a good person." I crossed my arms.
He frowned and looked down," I know."
I looked at him in surprise. I thought he would have defended him.
" Then why are you with him?" I asked.
" I'm not, anymore. I caught him making out with him ex this morning. "
" Oh....uh I'm sorry."
" It's ok, once a cheater always a cheater I guess." He shrugged.
" You'll find someone better one day." I reassured him.
" I already have." He started into my eyes.
I gulped feeling sad just thinking about him liking someone else," Who?"
He broke eye contact," I know the feeling isn't mutual but it's...it's you Caspar. Y-you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
My eyes filled with tears only this time it wasn't because I was sad, it's because I'm happy," And you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
He looked at me in shock but that was quickly replaced with happiness," B-but I thought that y-"
" I love you Joe." It felt so good to say that.
He smiled," I love you too."
It felt even better to hear that.
He pulled my face down to his and pressed his lips to mine.
And as they say the rest is history.
But really after that we giggled like little teenage girls and danced with each other all night until a teacher had to kick us out because we were the last two in the room.
The real highlight of the night though, was when we walked outside in the rain.
Joe asked me to be his boyfriend and I said yes and we kissed in the rain like something out of a movie but then we quickly ran to my car because it was cold as shit.

I know this story was short but I never intended on it being long.
