I pull into my driveway and stop the engine, pulling the keys out of the ignition. I sigh as I grab my backpack off of the passenger seat and get out.
I walk to the front door and walk inside.
"Hey Lou!" Lottie greets me.
"Sup. Where's mum?"
"With Dr. Deakin," she states going back to her phone. Why wouldn't she be?
"His name is Dan! Stop calling him Dr." I roll my eyes.
I head to my room. I don't try to sound rude but I absolutely hate him! He's nothing but a cocky man who thinks everyone wants to be him.
My phone rings interrupting my thoughts.
"Hello?" I answer and wait for a response.
"Hey man, wanna come to Justin's and Jay's and hangout tonight?" Jackson asks once he gets on the line. Justin and Jayden are twin brothers, but we all act like brothers. Justin is the smart, straight A's, goody goody ome out of the group. Jayden is the complete opposite. He the carefree, doesn't really go to school one. Jackson, well let's just say he's the idiot one out of the group. Me, I'm the one who puts them in their place, mostly Jayden and Jackson.
"Sure, why not?" I say and hang up. I throw my bag to the side and walk out of the room. I run down the stairs and open the front door.
"Where are you going?" Lottie asks as I'm about to go out the door.
"Justin's and Jay's, be back later." I close the door and walk to the car. I unlock and get in. I put the key in the ignition and turn the car on. I put it in drive and begin driving to their house.
*
I open the front door to his house as if it's my own house, "evening Mrs. Matthews."
"Evening Louis." She greets, "we have a doorbell you know." She laughs.
"Justin told me it was unlocked. Sorry Mrs. Matthews."
"It's alright, the boys are down in the basement like always." She smiles and goes back to doing the dishes.
I go down the stairs and walk through the doorway.
"Sup losers." I walk over to the couch.
"Hey Lou, wanna play some pool, since they don't want to?" Jackson asks grabbing a pool stick.
"Sure, I'm about to whoop your ass." I laugh and take a stick myself.
"You breaking?" He asks.
"I always do." He nods. He places the balls in the triangle and rolled it in place. He lefts the triangle and I put chalk on the tip of the stick. I set myself up, cocking the stick back and forcing it forward hitting the white ball which collides into the triangle shaped balls. The balls break apart and shuffle around the table. Two of them landing in two different pockets.
"Not fair." I hear him mumble. I smirk and move to the side where it's easier to hit the white ball. I hit it and it bounces off the 'five' ball. The ball travels across the table into the side pocket.
"I'm breaking next." Jackson pouts.
"I'm not playing this again." I laugh as I pull the stick back, hitting the white ball, tapping the 'four' ball but it didn't go in.
"About time." He huffs and sets himself up.
"Miss!" I shout as he was going to push the stick forward, causing it to miss the white ball and the tip of the stick to glide on the table.
"You suck." He glares at me before he went back to the table.
The game ended, I won, shocking I know.
"Why don't you boys go out and do something before it gets dark out? Plus dinner will be ready soon." Mrs. Matthews comes down the stairs.
"Little two on two?" I ask, hinting to play what Americans call soccer.
"Louis and I take on you two." Justin states pointing at Jackson and Jayden.
"Can I be on Louis's team? I don't want to lose to him twice in one night." Jackson whines as he begs. I start laughing.
"Fine, twins on one team." Justin says annoyance clear in his voice. We all get up and go up the stairs.
"Smells good, mom." Jayden inhales loudly as he gets to the top.
"Can't wait for dinner, Mrs. Matthews!" Jackson compliments as he walks out.
"Do you need help with anything?" I ask while everyone makes their way outside.
"Do you mind watching the noodles, while I'll be right back?" She politely asks.
"Not at all." I smile and she leaves the room.
"Hey Tommo! You coming?" Justin yells from outside.
"I'm doing something real quick for your mother, calm down!" I yell back. The stove begins to beep, signaling the noodles were done. I turn the stove off and the timer, stirring the noodles. I grab the strainer that was left out and poured the noodles in, draining the water from them. I shake the strainer and then place it on the pot the noodles were in before.
"Awe thanks dear, the boys need more friends like you. Now go play." She laughs finishing up dinner.
"Yes Mrs. Matthews." I smile, walking to the back door. I slide it open and walk out. I slide the door closed and turn around. "Now who's ready for some booty kicking."
"You're so weird." Jayden laughs and he throws the ball to the ground.
~
"Dinner's ready!" Mrs. Matthews calls to us in the middle of game. We stop what we're doing and run inside like we were a bunch of little kids.
"Take a plate and pass the food around." She instructs, placing the food on the table. We all take our seats and begin placing food on our plates.
"This looks amazing Mrs. Matthews." I compliment while pouring Pepsi into my glass.
"Awe thank you Louis." She smiles.
A door opening interrupts our conversations.
"Smells good in here." A male voice spoke out.
"Hi honey." Mrs. Matthews says while Mr. Matthews strolls into the kitchen. He places his briefcase on the counter and joins us.
"Hi boys." He greets us as he begins putting food on his plate and pouring himself a drink.
"Hi" and "hello" was filling the room.
"Louis." He nods his head towards me.
"Hi Mr. Matthews." I grin taking a bit of a noodle.
"How was school for everyone?" He asks trying to start a conversation.
"Good" and "alright" was what everyone answers with.
"That's good." He smiles while taking a sip from his drink. I take a sip of mine. "What about you Lou? Going to do homework tonight I hope?"
"Oh Mr. Matthews you are a jokester." I laugh as I sip my drink.
"Well then I guess there won't be any tv tonight." He has a smug smile.
"Fine sir." I playfully roll my eyes and continue eating. Mr. Matthews and I have the bond where he's like kind of a father figure, but I don't use that term. I don't have a father and I never will. I don't care if my mother remarried or what, father is not in my vocabulary.
"Louis? Louis?" Mrs. Matthews calls my name. I go back into reality and realize I was drinking my Pepsi. I swallowed and started choking.
"Yes?" I ask once I finish my coughing fit.
"Are you going to spend the night?" She questions.
"Would you like me to stay over? I don't want to be rude and say yes and you don't want me. I also-" I ramble on and on.
"Lou, you can always stay the night." Mr. Matthews interrupts me.
"Okay sir." I smile and finish my food.
"Dude why are you always such a kiss ass when you're over here?" Jackson asks when the adults leave.
"I've known this family since second grade, they're like my second family. I always have to respect them." I get up and bring my plate to the sink. I rinse the plate off and place it in the dishwasher.
"This is the nicest I've seen you." Jackson says, causing me to roll my eyes.
"You guys are acting like you've never seen him while he's over here." Justin stops them from continuing on.
"Guys lets get something straight, I'm respectful to adults, but I hate people my age or people who try to control me." I begin walking down to the basement, followed by them.
"Am I the only one sleeping over?" I ask, grabbing the pull-up bar on the wall.
"Yeah Because little miss princess over here has to get her beauty sleep when she gets home." Jayden refers to Jackson, using a very sarcastic high pitched voice.
"Oh shut up." He speaks up.
"You guys are immature." Justin says as I laugh at their stupidness.
"Oh look who's talking! Sorry Mr. I sleep with a blanket I had since I was little." Jackson smirks
"You're a dickhead!" Justin punches his arm.
"Thanks I know." Jackson laughs going over to the couch.
"Can all of you jackasses shut up!" I shout causing them to be quiet and look at me. "Thank you." I get off the pull-up bar and walk over turning the tv on, before sitting on the couch.
"What are you guys doing tomorrow after school?" Jayden asks.
"I have something." I speak and pull my phone out from my pocket.
"I'm doing nothing."
"I'm not doing anything either."
"What do you have Tommo?"
"A family thing I don't want to do but I'm being forced to do it." I roll my eyes placing my phone back into my pocket. They'll never let it go if they find out I'm doing drama
"That sucks."
"Wow I totally didn't know that!" I sarcastically say. "I have to go get clothes from my house before it gets too late, b-r-b" I get off the couch and run up the stairs.
"You leaving?" Mrs. Matthews asks from the kitchen, once I get to the top of the four steps.
"I'm just going to get clothes and I'm coming right back." I say and open the front door. I walk out and unlock my car. I pull the handle and get in. I put the key in the ignition and started it up. I turn the radio volume up and back out of their driveway. They can fit four cars in their driveway, they have three.
*
"Where are you going?" He asks once I run down the stairs, about to leave.
"Why do you care?" I turn and look at him.
"Now now, don't speak to me like that."
"I can talk to you whatever way I want. Now I'm going wherever my feet take me and you're not doing anything about it."
"No you're not, you're staying in with me and your mother and sisters." He orders.
"Not even in your dreams will I ever listen to you." I sneer opening the door and start walking out.
"You know, it might be better you not being here for the night. Since your room is fairly close to your mother's and I's room, I don't want to disrupt your sleeping with screaming." He smirks.
"If you ever say that about my mother again I will-"
"Welcome home sweetie, where were you?" My mom asks while she came into the room. I glare at Dan before answering.
"I was over The twin's house. I came home to grab clothes and stuff because I'm sleeping over tonight."
"Oh well alright, go to sleep early and do your homework." She says walking over to me before giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Yes ma'am." I kiss her cheek before opening the door. I look at Dan who was thrusting the air behind my mother's back. I'm going to kill him one day. I walk out slamming the door shut. He really knows how to piss me off. I stomp to my car and get in, throwing my bag in the back. I start it up and drive to Their house again.
*
"Can everyone please shut up! I'm trying to get this done!" I shout over their game of basketball on the tv.
"Oh come on Tommo. Put that down and come join us." Jayden says not looking from the TV.
"No I told my mom I will do it. I'm actually trying to make something of myself so I can be successful and leave this place." I roll my eyes and get back to my work.
About an hour later, I finished my homework and now I'm currently in the bathroom getting my sweatpants on and a plain white t-shirt.
"Time for bed boys." Mrs. Matthews comes down the stairs. Groans were coming from every direction. "Now now don't be like that."
"Alright Mrs Matthews. Goodnight." We trudge up the steps to Justin's and Jayden's room.
"Bye guys, goodnight Mrs. and Mr. Matthews." Jackson says before opening the front door. We all say bye as the door closes.
"Goodnight sweetie, goodnight boys." Mrs. Matthews waves, before walking into her room for the night.
"How is it already ten-thirty?" Justin questions looking at his clock that's placed on his nightstand, next to his bed.
"It feels like it's six." Jayden states crawling into his bed.
"Are you serious? If feels like it's two in the morning! I'm exhausted." I comment stretching my arms behind my head and yawn.
"You guys are party poopers!" Jayden rolls his eyes.
"Well sorry we actually get up in the morning and go to school, instead of skip." Justin defends laying in his bed. I walk over to his closet and grab Myself a pillow and blanket. I make room on the floor for myself and throw the pillow down. I lay down and get as comfortable as I can get on a floor.
We stay up a little while talking about party memories we had and the girls we banged throughout the years. Jayden is the first to fall asleep, then Justin. I stare up at the ceiling thinking back to the times I had with my best guys, before closing my eyes and drifting in a deep sleep.
