"But did you see me? I was on fire!" April ranted on about the game. Colin shook his head, his long blonde hair falling into his eyes.
"I did the grunt work, you just hid in a tree," he grumbled, pushing the food around his plate. Dinner had just began and everyone was hungry; after the day's events, it was like an animal was clawing at my stomach, dying for something to eat. I had nearly inhaled my food, not even bothering to chew most of the pork slices.
"Well, maybe. But I helped to, I distracted them so you could get away," April pointed out, popping some food into her mouth and chewing loudly. "Ahh," she moaned, her eyes rolling back into her head. Colin huffed beside her, choosing to remain quiet for the time being; Theo strolled over, a mountain on meat piled on his plate.
"Have enough meat there?" I asked, shuffling down the wooden bench for him to sit down.
"Nah, I might have to go back and get some more," he said nonchalant, a hidden grin almost peeking through his lips. I reached over him, picking up a long, juicy strip of beef and shoving it into my mouth whole.
"Oh fuck, this is so good," I moaned, patting my stomach in contentment. The food settled down, warming my body from the inside out. Theo gaped, his mouth popping like a fish,
"What just happened?" He murmured, confusedly glancing around the table for answers.
"Huh?" was my intelligent response.
"My food," he whimpered, using his fork to poke the empty spot I had just taken the meat from, "it was right there and now it's gone. I didn't even have time to say goodbye," alright, now he's being overdramatic.
"Shut up, you fool. Just go and get some more, or better yet, eat the food still on your plate," Colin chuckled, motioning to the tower of heavenly roasted meat. Theo pouted but took a hearty bite, moaning at the taste and licking the juice from his plump lips.
"It is really good," I threw in, eyeing up his plate. Theo caught my gaze, narrowing his eyes and covering my view with his arm.
"No, don't even think about it. You're lucky you still have hands from before. If it was anyone else, it would have been a different story," I looked at Colin, trying to gather if he was serious or not. Colin nodded his head,
"Oh yeah, ever heard the story of the 'hash-slinging slasher'? He took food from Theo and now has a spatula for a hand," well that's just stupid.
"What? No, that's from SpongeBob, where he works the graveyard shift and squid ward tries to scare him," April deadpanned, not buying into their shenanigans.
"No, really. And the other guy, who took Theo's hat with the straws that sit inside beer cans on either side on your head,"
"HE WAS NUMBER ONE!" I shouted out, overly excited. Colin smiled, giggling under his breath.
"Yeah, Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen. I'll never forget him," Theo sighed wistfully,
"He really was a great guy," these noobs!
"You're all horrible and watch way too much TV," April was not impressed.
"You haven't really hurt anyone for taking your food have you?" I couldn't help but ask, I needed to know if I was in danger.
"Hmm," was his only reply. Well that wasn't helpful, I huffed,
"Have you?" I pushed, moving closer to Theo.
"No one would ever dare take food away from me,"
"So you haven't hurt someone for doing it?" He looked at me.
"No,"
"So you won't mind if I do this," I reached over and took another piece of meat. Theo froze, watching as it disappeared into my mouth.
"You did not just do that," I got up, watching him cautiously.
"Now, now. Let's not do anything rash," I pleaded, holding my hands defensively in front of me.
"It's not rash, you deserve it," he lunged for me, his big grabby hands grasping at the fabric of my shirt. I wriggled out of his grasp, sprinting away as fast as I could. my ears rung with the loud slaps of Theo's boots behind me. Shit. I've really done it now; I weaved around the tables and ducked between people talking, to try and throw him off my trail but he was relentless. He was gaining on me and I had no idea where to go; I spotted the stairs to the house and made a beeline over. He was really close now because I lost time on the stairs; it's not my fault that my legs are shorter than his, he's like a fucking giraffe! I ducked into the first hallway I saw, weaving around the corners and trying not to run into anybody.
Theo was hot on my pursuit, his shoes echoing in the closed space. I turned left, running full speed down the corridor; there were no lights on and the only light streamed in from the open windows. It reminded me of driving at night and you go in between the street lamps, getting flashes of light as you passed. I stopped dead in my tracks, shit, a dead end. Leave it to me to go the wrong way; Theo slowed down, stalking me like prey.
"Seems like you're trapped," he spoke lowly, sending chills down my spine.
"Hmm, it does seem like that, doesn't it?" What to do, what to do. I know, perfect idea. I turned to face him, sending him my flirty smile and sultry eyes; he stopped, momentarily confused. I used this to my advantage, diving for the space in between his legs and sliding along the wooden floor. Theo had no idea what I was doing; he was like a statue with a confused looked stuck on his unmoving face. I jumped up, clawing my way out of the hall but he caught me, lifting my body off the ground and against the wall.
"You're like Spiderman or something," he murmured, inching his face closer to mine.
"I hate spiders," I whispered, trying not to think about how close we were. Theo's body was against mine, I could feel every glorious inch of his perfectly sculpted body that pressing firmly into me. He shifted, moving a very hard object closer to my womanhood. "Oh," I gasped, moving my body back into the wall.
"What should I do? You've been a very naughty girl," his voice was like a breathless whisper, fanning over my flushed face.
"I haven't been naughty, I've just not been particularly nice."
"Oh, you've been very bad," he moved closer, his lips ghosting over mine in a sensual tease, "what to do," he breathed out. His lips grazed mine, gently moving his mouth with his eyes closed. He pecked my mouth, kissing the corners and moving down my chin; he trailed a hot line down my neck. I moaned out, loving the feel of him on my skin.
"I should punish you like you punished me," he muttered into my neck, breathing deeply.
"No. that's my thing, you can't have it," he smirked, his hands wondering over my thighs and gently caressing the skin.
"It can be our-"
"Summer?" Shit. Greyson moved closer, taking in out rather inappropriate position. I pushed Theo away trying to stop the feeling of my cheeks heating up.
"Hi," I gave him a small wave; my hands clasped my hips, crossing my arms as to shield me. Greyson looked between us, his mind running wild with accusations.
"What the fuck?" He whispered utterly broken. "So that's it? I don't even have a chance, do I?" He was getting angry,
"No, I..." shit, I couldn't think of anything to say.
"Calm down," it was Theo that tried to diffuse the situation. Greyson stilled, facing him head on,
"So what, you can sweep her away! I'm not a fool, I saw what was going on!" He yelled and balled up his fists up tight.
"Grey," I whispered on a sigh, this was going to be hard, "I don't know what to say. I'm sorry," he scoffed, folding his arms over his broad chest.
"Sorry? Sorry. That's bull shit and you know it; did you even like me or was it some kind of sick joke to you?" He accused me, visibly starting to shake. I shook my head, he had it all wrong.
"Of course not! I would never do that you, it's just more complicated than... I didn't want anything like this happen, I knew I should have stayed at home," my voice broke. I could feel the tears sting at my eyes, the familiar tingling of my bottom lip warning me.
"Fuck, Summer. When will you see the monster he really is!" He shouted, pointing a finger in Theo's direction.
"You better watch what you say, Sawyer. Because I won't be held responsible for my actions," Theo's voice was chilling, a clear threat in his words.
"Or what? You'll steal my girl? Too late for that," Greyson scoffed and swung his fist at Theo. Bone met bone; Theo stumbled back into the wall, rubbing at his jaw and set his steady eyes on his target. I couldn't do anything as Theo rammed his body into Greyson, it was like an out of body experience and I was just a ghost. The guys met the wall with a smack, the jib board bending under their weight. Greyson wrestled free, sending his fists to Theo's stomach in concession. Theo groaned out, using his arms to block the hard blows; Theo reached up, grabbing at the strands of golden hair and yanking them back. Greyson staggered back, tripping over his feet and falling to the ground. I gasped in shock, cupping my face in my hands as I watched the onslaught.
"She will never be your girl, understood?" Theo sneered, hovering above a crumpled Greyson. Theo held his hand out, giving me a pointed look, "come on, Summer," he instructed. I looked at him hesitantly, glancing between his swollen jaw and Greyson's bruised body. "Summer," his tone was deadly, daring me to challenge.
"Shouldn't we take him to see the doctor?" I asked, my voice like a mouse.
"He can take himself," he gruffed out, already walking back down the hall holding onto his side. I slowly walked over to Greyson, pushing the hair from his face and giving his forehead a gentle kiss,
"Sorry," I whispered into his hair, not able to look at him any longer.

I hid away for the rest of the night, tucked into my bed and stared off into space. My mind was reeling, Theo had pummelled Greyson and left him to pick himself off the ground; It was cruel. All this mate stuff was starting to get on my nerves, I just wanted everything to be easy and work out the way I wanted them to, was that too much to ask?
When the sun had finally come up, I didn't want to move; not just because I hadn't gotten any sleep during the night but because I would have to face the world, and I really didn't want to do that. It didn't help that I had to face Theo in capture the flag and see Greyson in his bruised state, knowing I was the cause. I finally managed to drag myself out of the comfort of my bed and into some clothes but my mind never left, I was like a walking zombie- dead to the world.
"Are you okay? You seem out of it today," April commented, poking at my dull cheeks, "you actually look like shit, like, really, really pale shit. It's scary because you're so pretty but I'm now considering breaking up with you."
"Thanks," I said dryly, really not in the mood, "It's good to know you're only with me for my looks. It's a really big confidence booster."
"Well shit, you are in a bad mood. That time of the month?" I sighed,
"No, April. I just didn't get a lot of sleep, okay."
"Yeah, okay. Should we head down now? Capture the flag is starting soon," I nodded my head, not wanting to talk anymore.
Everybody had shown up, talking excitedly to each other about who they wanted to win; I kept my head down, making my way over to Shane. He was discussing with some guys when I approached,
"Hey, Summer. You look awful," he commented,
"I know, I did look in the mirror this morning," I snapped, watching as Shane recoiled from my tone.
"Sorry," he murmured. Shit, now I feel bad.
"No, I'm sorry for snapping. I just didn't get a lot of sleep," I explained. Shane wrapped me up in his arms, hugging me close in a warm embrace.
"Don't worry."

"Right, so today will be the finals for capture the flag," the crowd burst out, excitedly murmuring to each other, "alpha's come forward and pick out a flag," Greyson spoke, a brown canvas bag hanging from his hand. There was a large bruise on his face, evidence of last night's fight; I couldn't look him in the eye, not anymore. He had called out, asking me to stay with him but I couldn't; I couldn't go with either of them. I was a coward; I ran away from my problems, hiding so I wouldn't have to face them. I wasn't proud, I wasn't happy with my actions but I just couldn't deal with them. It was like I was being pulled in two different directions and my arms were ready to snap.
The three alphas stepped forward; Shane was first, drawing out of red flag. The next alpha was one I hadn't come across yet, he stuck his hand in pulling out a yellow flag. Theo was last; he showed no regret for last night as he stared right at Greyson, a smirk resting on his lips. He reached into the bag, giving Greyson a lingering look; the crowd waited on baited breath, looking to see which flag he would pull out. A bright red emerged from the black of the bag; we would be up first, facing Theo's pack.
The packs had lined up, facing each other with hard looks. April had clung to Colin, her fingers digging in slightly as she gave me a guilty look; I smiled at her, she didn't have to feel guilty, it was only a game. Greyson blew the horn and we were all off, running to opposite sides of the forest.
I burst through the trees, pushing the prickly needles away and jogged over to my pack.
"Same plan as last time, find a spot for the flag and then we'll come up behind them," Shane explained, his eyes roaming the forest. We needed a place to hide the flag, the tree tops weren't an option anymore because they'll be expecting us to do that.
"Alpha! Over here, there's a hole under this tree," a young male pointed out, showing us the area between the roots. Shane nodded, tucking the flag out of view and gave the guy an encouraging smile.
"Good work, we still have time so I want everyone to run around the trees so they can't follow our scent here," everyone nodded, "and when the horn blows, I want the people staying to guard, to spread out and you," he pointed to the guy, "stand in front of this tree. I want you Pete, to guard a few trees down, they'll expect the biggest guy to guard the flag, let's throw them off."
We got to work, weaving between the trees in no order, just mindlessly running until the horn was blown. The pack split, grouping into our strengths; I tagged along with Shane, jogging a back route to the side of the forest Theo's pack would be. The trees rustled with the wind, playing a peaceful melody; it was too quite though. It was eerily quiet, like we were walking into an ambush. The group moved forward, tucking in between two large trees; there was a large rocky bank on one side of us and I suddenly got a flash back to Tyrion Lannister and Catelyn Stark when they were traveling to her sisters castle. Game of thrones really does apply to all aspects of life.
The leaves moved, shaking in fear; I stopped, staring intensely at the large boulders. It was all very suspect.
"Shane, I don't have a good feeling," I murmured to him. A shadow caught my eye, it was flying high in the sky and Shane was taken down. The pack jumped into action as more people flew down from the bank; I stilled, watching the mass of man wrestle around on the ground. I wasn't going to stick around for this; I sprinted away, jumping over arms and legs like it was an obstacle course. The forest blurred around me, it was like déjà vu; I kept my eyes peeled, darting around to find the red flag. The forest suddenly seemed a lot larger than before, like it was forever expanding around me; I couldn't believe my eyes, ten feet away the flag hung limply on a low branch. I couldn't believe this, it wouldn't just be that easy, would it?
I peered around, looking in the trees for any monkeys ready to jump at me; it all seemed very quiet and still. I hesitantly approached the tree, nervously swiping my head from left to right; I could feel the trickery linger in the air.
"Alright, if anyone jumps out at me, I'll be very pissed," I called out, seeing if anyone would catch my bluff. Nothing happened. I took the flag, hooking it around the loop in my shorts; this was way too easy. I took a cautious step, then another one; I took off, not letting anyone have the time to think as I jumped into action.
My legs pushed hard, straining against the uneven ground; someone collided with me, sending me sprawling to the hard dirt. I groaned out, not again! I could feel my shoulder start to pulse, drumming to the beat of my heart.
"Did you think I would make it that easy?" Theo grinned, jumping up and readying himself for a fight. I scoffed,
"Obviously not, that's why I called out," moron. I got up; let's get this over with. I brought my hands up, curling my fingers but leaving my middle finger slightly out, "game on," I swung out, catching Theo in the jaw. He staggered back, dazed; I reared my leg, kicking him in the stomach with all my strength and booked it. I wasn't going to wait for him to retaliate.
I couldn't stop, I needed to keep going; I could hear Theo behind me, gaining fast. Shit, shit, shit. This was not good. I ran towards a log, leaping over it and grabbing some fallen leaves and dirt, flinging them between my legs at him. I heard him curse, calling me a cheat but I didn't care, I was almost at the tree line and then I was in the home run. Theo continued to grumble, saying profanities under his breath as I put some distance between us.
Birds jumped and flew away as I barrelled past, unsettling their peaceful home; I could feel the forest thin out, giving me more room to be free. I was so close, I could taste the win; it was so, so very close. Theo reached out, grabbing the back of my shirt and pulling me to the ground; he straddled me, pinning my arms down.
"Stay," he ordered.
"You say that like I have a choice," I muttered, trying to buck him off. Theo stayed strong, determined to not let me get the better of him again.
"You punched me in the face."
"And?" I questioned, "It's just a game, babe," he grinned.
"It was a good punch, I almost couldn't believe how much it hurt. You have quite the arm there," I hummed in response, pushing my lower body up and trying to shove him off. I wasnt giving up that easily; Theo shifted, angling his body away but still sitting on top of me.
"Stop that," his voice was rough, scratchy like he'd swallowed something very dry. I did it again, pushing my hips up and meeting his body; he groaned, closing his eyes briefly. This was good, just where I wanted him; I wiggled my body up a bit, sliding my leg between his.
"Sorry for this," I murmured, Theo looked confused but didn't get the time to respond before my leg came up and hit a very sensitive spot. I really have to stop mutilating his dick, he'll be permanently damaged before the games even start, at this rate. Theo rolled off me, groaning and moaning; I jumped up, not glancing back as I ran. I was so close, like for real this time!
I broke through the trees, feeling the mountains breeze kiss at my skin; I could see the target, it was further away than I thought. I pushed my legs, wishing them faster; the crowd held their noise, waiting for the win. Colin burst through the trees, his legs pumping robotically; dammit, I needed this! My arms swung high, pushing my body to its limit; I was so close! I could feel the tension in the air, like a hot bubbling volcano ready to erupt.
Colin was gaining fast, like a rabbit in speed and agility but I was a wolf and she wanted this. Bad. Shane emerged behind him, his face red and chest heavy in effort. The wolf has its prey in sight; I tried focus on my goal, steadying my gaze on the table and nothing else. Colin was drenched in sweat, it was running down his face in streams; Shane was gaining, pushing his body further than ever before. Colin glanced back, peering over his shoulder and his eyes widened, fear was prominent and I wasn't surprised. It's never s nice feeling knowing you're being chased by an alpha, not when the stakes are this high. The table was so close this time, I'm not exaggerating like the other times. I could see the win, feel it in my bones but a looming presence had appeared behind me. If I could just make it a little bit further; I couldn't. Damn. Theo pulled me down from my waist, holding my body tight against him as we fell; this was becoming very laborious.
Our bodies collided, smacking into the hard ground together; I was lying on Theo's chest, my head tilted toward my goal as Colin sprinted up the table, holding his flag high. Well fuck me.
"Ahh," I whined, pounding my fists on Theo's pecks, "fuck you! I almost had it!" He chuckled beneath me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Exactly why I had to stop you. Besides, I couldn't let you win after that stunt you pulled; you really have to leave my balls alone if you ever want to have kids," I huffed, pushing myself away and stormed over to Shane.
"It's not fair," I needed someone to hear my moaning, otherwise it's not worth it.
"I know, but you did great. I thought you had it, I was so proud... Then you got taken down and I can no longer call you my sister," he said it with such a straight face I almost believed him. That is, if I hadn't grown up with the shit.
"Ha, ha," I drew out sarcastically, "you're so funny."
"I know," he agreed, pulling me into a brotherly embrace, "I am very proud though. You nearly out ran a very strong alpha; it's quite impressive."
"You should have seen the punch then, and when I kneed him in the balls," I murmured into his chest, wanting all the recognition I could get.
"AHHH, WE WON!" April shouted, jumping up and down. Her voice filled the air, drawing many people's attention; she didn't mind, instead she focused on Colin, waiting for him to come down to her. He did and when that happened, she pulled him in, grabbing at his neck and planting a big, juicy kiss on his lips. Well, well, well; get some Colin!
