Alone in my dark, quiet hideaway, almost ignorant
Of the world.
Except for the beat of my heart, reminding
Me of others.
Reminding me of others, of light and
The world outside.
More than darkness, overcoming loneliness
Is what others can do.
Then my mind slowly remembers the softness
And warmth of light.
And the fullness of belonging and
More emotions.
Remembering when I wasn't limited to
Sadness and darkness.
Then spiraling cautiously to light and
Open arms.
